Speak Out Spew Off...

Breaking News!!! Due to the skipping over of the NFL's Supplemental Draft from last week, Packers GM Ted Thompson still has all 7 of his 2011 Draft Picks remaining and is busy online checking out the 2011 NFL Mock Drafts and planning his fantasy trades. Hmmmmm a CB with the 32nd overall pick in the Walter Football 2011 Mock Draft and a nice complimentary list of CBS Sports 2011 Draft Prospects to ponder over.

In Other News!!! Packers DE Johnny Jolly has officially been suspended indefinitely by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell for his escapades centering around his possession of a 10 oz. prescription required codeine based cough syrup bottle. Although it happened over 2 years ago and hasn't quite come to trial yet, we fans all knew the suspension was about to happen anyway. Apparently no Texan Judge was willing to step in like the Minnesota Judges do so Jolly will be suspended by the NFL and not be able to ask for re-instatement until after the upcoming Super Bowl in February 2011. I should say after the expected NFC North Divisional Champions and eventually expected Super Bowl XLV Champions Green Bay Packers... heh, we Packers fans aren't any different than Vikqueen fans about dreaming Super Bowls every year... it just we Packers fans have more experience with the reality of those championship dreams coming true, having won 6 times in 8 tries during the last 50 years. Vikqueen fans have Zero-for-Four going for them... yeah, ZER0, but they do have Brett Favre, maybe... maybe not... maybe... loves me not... loves me... loves - Stop! I'll be here all day at this rate.

In More Other News!!! Packers start signing some of their 2010 draft picks, first it was 5th rounder TE Andrew Quarless and now 3rd round pick S Morgan Burnett. Still time to sign the rest before camp begins, the late rounders should be locked into certain salary ranges, while 1st round pick OT Brian Bulaga will take more time as other 1st rounders may need to sign for his salary slotting to finalize, you can expect 2nd round pick DT Mike Neal to want a little more $$$ now that Johnny Jolly has been lost for the year.

In More Super Secret News!!! Our roving producer and contributor Michelle was granted a media credential for the recently held ESPY's. We've been teased in emails and we eagerly await her post production audio and video work results. Here's some of her past ESPY interviews and pic's.

And from packernews, com: "You have to have a gun-toting, accurate quarterback in order to go win it all. Aaron Rodgers is a freaking linebacker in quarterback’s clothing," said Packers linebackers coach Kevin Greene, whose 160 career sacks rank third all time. "He knows he’s going to get rocked, and he gets back up when he does."

Let's spend more time providing accolades to what Aaron has accomplished last year. I am curious to hear how he is doing with camp where the REAL DEAL players show up!!!!! I am hoping that grandpa playing for the hopeless team in Minnie is flat on his back this year as should be expected, but I will speak about him no more. It should be on to the PACK here. WE NEED TO MOVE ON PEOPLE AS THIS IS 2010!!! The Pack will own the division this year and put all this to rest. If you need some fricking therapy to get over the past, then get some! My therapy are in 12, 16, and 40 ounces when watching the PACK are playing with some good brats and cheese curds...:0) I am just anxious for the season to start and the Pack to start winning!!! It is speculated that the Pack schedule could lead to a 6 - 0 start. Any others with thoughts?

How about that Rodgers? The "D"? The "O"line late in the 2009 season?

Wow, not visited the site in a while. I tried to find something to reply to. The Palace needs to have the season begin. We have the summer school session posting Favre re-runs. Can't wait for chat when camp starts. See you then.

P.S I have a good picture of AROD out buying drinks for my daughter and her friends in Brew City. They said he was nothing but a great guy.

Spew Off Speak Out...

Oh it's not game day, but there's nothing wrong with a little Arrogant Bastard Ale from Stone Brewery in San Diego. Nothing wrong with it at all.

Now on to the big question of the week:
Hey Beer Kid, how come we hafta scroll WAAAAAAAAY down here to get to the good stuff?? - #66 Chica

Hey Chica, yes my mom pointed this out the other day.... something to do with Windows and Internet Explorer, although Firefox and Windows doesn't look too great either. Damn... I was just trying to clean up some things behind the scenes and well, my only excuse, hmmm, after 20 years of living on Windows, I've been using the 24" iMac from Apple for 2 years and well, it was really easy to forget that previous 20 years of total hell that Windows had provided me with. So forgetting to see what my changes did for those of you who still use Windows... screw that, I ain't apologizing, but I'll fix the problem now that I dragged my little IBM NetVista kiosk computer out of the dusty closet and which seems to have no problems duplicating the issues that both you and my mom (and hundreds of others) are havng with my recent adjustments to tidy up the Palace.

Sounds like a job for Monday... I'm busy drinking today!

Update: I just went back to the old design and pushed all of the extra stuff back to the bottom where it was originally and where it seems to belong.

LOL@ Scott of Chippewa Falls - Believe me, I never thought I’d watch as much World Cup as I did, but it was mainly to cope with Packer withdrawal. Plus, some of those Spain players are *really* HOT! *lol*

I never thought about the whole horn thing, in regards to the queens. omg, BK is right. When I first started watching the soccer matches I thought, “what the heck is that annoying beehive sound?” Then I learned about the whole vuvuzela thing. Viking fake horn… vuvu-whatever… ICK on both!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending Jolly, but let's put things into perspective here - Jolly gets caught with some cough syrup used for "getting his drank on" after-hours, and gets an entire YEAR suspension. Meanwhile, over in Minny, the 'roidhead Williams sisters can use banned "performance enhancing" substances directly related to their play on the field, and get to continue playing.

Memo to Rodger Goodell: Quit coddling the fucking vikings!

Call 911 - Get an ambulance! Chica #66 must be in really tough shape to tune in to Soccer. PLEASE leave the crazy horns behind !! Vikings fans are annoying enough without getting the idea to bring those dumb things with them. Go Pack !!

Scott of Chippewa Falls

Hey Scott, I was watching some of the World Cup and I'll say this, whenever I hear the vuvuzuela horn, I think soccer, somewhat exciting when an elimination game is playing, but yet it's a wimpy sport of floppers and whiners, and then I think hey!!! That's what comes to mind when I hear the Viking horn blow too... Vikqueen whiners and floppers, well, and chokers too.  BK

Packers Training Camp Is On...

Just rolling some obvious thoughts out on the Green Bay Packers roster as they begin their Training Camp today. Not many positions are available to potential new starters, and the same faces are in the mix for the backup roles. What contributions can the new rookies make, especially T Bryan Bulaga, DT Mike Neal and S Morgan Burnett, who should certainly be in the rotations for playing time. Questions abound and only a Packers Training Camp can answer them.

Wide Receivers:  What's going to happen at Wide Receiver during Training Camp - not much, Greg Jennings and Donald Driver are the clear starters, so it's down to who's going to be #3 - Jordy Nelson or James Jones. Some think that Nelson is ascending, while others point to Jones' drops. #5 doesn't matter so much, as on the field that position is taken by TE Jermichael Finley.

Tight Ends:  Jermichael Finley is the clear starter over backups Donald Lee, Spencer Havner and rookie Andrew Quarless. Is Donald Lee's days done in Green Bay? I'm not sure that's the case but the Packers front office may think differently as camp progresses.

O-Line:  It seems that barring injury, left OT Chad Clifton, C Scott Wells, and right OT Mark Tauscher are locked in as starters. You don't hear much about RG Josh Sitton, so his starting position is probably secure. The action seems to be at LG, where last years starter Daryn Colledge played well, played left OT, played poorly when returned to LG. Jason Spitz is the primary challenger, unless the Packers decide to let TJ Lang or recently signed rookie Bryan Bulaga tryout. Considering the health of Clifton and Tauscher, it might be wise to keep those two as backup Tackles.

Running Backs:  Expected starters are HB Ryan Grant and FB Quinn Johnson. Will the Packers let one of the other FB's Korey Hall or John Kuhn go? Is Brandon Jackson a competent backup? Is rookie James Starks going to claim a spot? Can Kregg Lumpkin show something more than vague potential? Should the Pack go after Brian Westbrook? Too many big questions at the backup running back spots.

Quarterbacks:  The Packers are solid with starting QB Aaron Rodgers, who knows if he's competent Matt Flynn as the backup, and whomever is delegated to the Practice Squad - Graham Harrell for now.

D-Backs:  CB Charles Woodson and FS Nick Collins are the healthy lock-in's as starters. CB Tramon Williams is holding the other CB position for the return of Al Harris, with a battle for SS between oft-injured Atari Bigby and rookie Morgan Burnett. Brandon Underwood, Will Blackmon, Jarett Bush, Derek Martin and a handful of others are vie-ing for the remaining backup positions.

Linebackers:  The returning four starting linebackers are right OLB Clay Matthews, ILB's AJ Hawk and Nick Barnett, with left OLB Brad Jones. That leaves above average for backups Brandon Chillar, Desmond Bishop and Brady Poppinga positioning themselves amongst any newcomers brought to camp. Packers may be short a quality backup LB on the roster.

D-Line:  The Packers plan is left DE Ryan Pickett, NT BJ Raji, and right DE Cullen Jenkins. Johnny Jolly is gone for the year, leaving newly arrived rookies Mike Neal and CJ Wilson to go with hold-overs Jarius Wynn and Justin Harrell. One potential problem, backup NT is starting DE Ryan Pickett.

Special Teams:  K Mason Crosby along with LS Brett Goode, have their positions secure. The battle is for the Packers new Punter this year, between Chris Bryan and Tim Masthay. Speedster DB Sam Shields is expected to handle some return duties.

Coaching Staff:  Same basic coaching staff that took last years Packers to a 11-5 finish and a playoff loss in Arizona to the Cardinals. Led by head coach Mike McCarthy, d-coordinator Dom Capers and o-coordinator Joe Philbin.

So 4 positions are really in play - SS, LG, P, FB - barring training camp injuries. At Strong Safety, one would think that a healthy Atari Bigby is going to start over rookie Morgan Burnett, a healthy Al Harris is going to start over Tramon Williams at Cornerback. Health issues aside, the Packers have a strong defensive backfield this year, something that teams like Pittsburgh and Arizona can't easily exploit this year as what happened last year to the weakest DB in the Packers backfield.

At Left Guard, it would appear that Daryn Colledge will keep his starting job, without worrying about taking rep's at Tackle, he should do well. The Packers carried 3 fullbacks last year, you can't imagine that would happen again this year, so will Quinn Johnson step in as a starter, forcing the Packers to choose over John Kuhn who makes more plays, or Korey Hall who comes off as more athletic. A possible hard decision for GM Ted Thompson and HC Mike McCarthy to make. The punting situation last year was dismal, so one hopes that Chris Bryan or Tim Masthay are NFL quality punters, otherwise the punting situation will be dismal again this year.

So it comes down to that the Packers are a strong team, returning almost every starter from last years 11-5 roster, a couple breaks with the timing of their schedule, and the Packers may find themselves playing deep into the Playoffs, and into the biggest game of the year, Super Bowl XLV.
