One Wish...
I met a fairy today who granted me one wish.

"I want to live forever" I said.

"Sorry" said the fairy, "I'm not allowed to grant wishes like that!"

"Fine" I said, "I want to die when the Vikings win the Superbowl!"

"You crafty bastard," said the fairy.

Speak Out Spew Off...

Looking for Packers Training Camp News? You best roll on through these links for your complete coverage.

Start at packers.com and/or go straight to the video interviews page - packers.com/media-center/videos/all-videos.html to catch up on the players like Charles Woodson, Aaron Rodgers, and Clay Matthews. Listen in to head coach Mike McCarthy's post-practice comments.

Packer Net still does an admirable job in collecting the latest Packers headlines - packernet.com/articles.php - Still start my morning searching for Packers news by checking out this website first.

Now, Cheesehead TV is starting to really out-shine all the rest of us with their training camp coverage - cheeseheadtv.com/blog/ - I especially like the Live Blog covering the camp activities with its sources coming from every Packers Analyst that can tweet.

Need more? Expand your training camp coverage to include the other 3 teams in the NFC North - espn.go.com/blog/nfcnorth - Yeah, yeah, Kevin Seifert is a Vikings fan, but ESPN is the place to go for NFC North news on Duh Bears, the Vikes, the Lions and the Pack.

Last, to get more NFL news and rumors, head over to Pro Football Talk - profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/category/rumor-mill/ - and get lost in all the NFL training camp news.

Best part is, the above sites are updating constantly all day long so you can go back several times a day for udpates... and if you're still looking for more. Head over to our links page.

I'm making a vow [*gulp!*] from here on-out on Packer Palace, to ONLY talk about the starting quarterback of the Green Bay Packers. [*double-gulp!* BeerScout and BeerKid I am counting on both of you to hold me to this]

I will not talk about the Traitor. the Diva. the Addict. the purple prima-donna. Soap opera Queen-you-know-who.

The ungrateful asshole urinated all over the GREEN BAY PACKERS organization and fan-base who MADE HIM what he WAS (key-word being "was"). He is sick.

ok, that's it. I'm done. It's all 'out of my system' here. No more.

OMG! Brett Favre Quits... Again... Maybe...

We've all been down this road before, several times in fact, and at this point in the game, does anyone believe anything that we hear that centers around Brett Favre's "will he or won't he play" near drama queen mentality that has been coming every off-season for the last few years.

Brett Favre retires, again, maybe, again.

Must be fun to be a Vikqueenie fan today, from Super Bowl Contender (in their minds) to playoff longshot with one simple announcement from their QB. Bwah haha haha hah haha eh!

Update: Best quotes so far come from the Bears Brian Urlacher: "retired from training camp?" and from the Packers Nick Barnett: "We were going to do the same thing without him coming back or not. But do I believe it? I don't even know if I care enough to believe it or not to be honest. It's his career, he's got to do what he's got to do. But it doesn't change nothing for us. We're going to have the same goal whether it's Tarvaris [Jackson], Jeffrey Dahmer or Norman Bates quarterbacking. We're still trying to do the same thing."

You can find more over at Yahoo Sports Blog - Shutdown Corner - The 10 best quotes about Brett Favre's alleged retirement.

Then you get news that the Vikes have offered BF a contract upgrade to 17 million with 3 mil in incentives. Is this really a contract ploy holdout and has absolutely nothing to do with his ankle... or arm... it's about the money. Brett Favre 20 Million Dollar Man.

Gosh, this Soap Opera will not go away!!! I cannot wait for the day it does. Here is my prediction:

On week 1 for Minnehopeless Brent Fart will be there - mark my words. He is stupid enough not to quit and jump on the tractor.

What's next: How many weeks will B Fart last? I predict between weeks 5 thru 7 he will be out for the season or at least injured enough that his body will not make it...look what New Orleans did in 09 Playoffs!!! Week 5 is the Jets, Week 6 is Dallas, Week 7 is the Pack. I sense some hurt is coming...:0)At this point only a .500 record. B Fart will then give up.

Then, T Jello or Sage Spice will run the team into the ground.

Go Pack Go (but one more year with that idiot on the MN team)

Or Brett himself. Not one teardrop. Once we get TV face time from these players in the saga, we'll get the real answer.

Hey, I wonder if we'll get a quote from the father of Brett's illegitimate grandchild? This dude HAS to get in on the action.

I will only believe it when I sit down to watch the week 1 Thursday night game and 2 QBs run up under center who are not named Brett. Until then, I'd still bet a two chickens that the ol' gunslinger will stroll into Minnesota in 3 weeks to save the day for the pathetic pissants in purple.

If I were a ego maniac qb trying to constantly feed that ego, what would I do? I would constantly waver on playing or retiring. Then all of the media outlets would constantly be having my name all over the news.I can see it now "fbg3 watch". Then when the media slowed down I would just change my mind because of my LOVE of the game. But the "fbg3 watch" would be annouced on ESPN every night and some stupid horn would blow. Sort of like some of the announcers. I would do this every year. In fact I would start years before I even officially retired then unretired. That way I could effectively control the franchise while my ego is being fed. I like it. Let it be done.

And God Created Wisconsin...

God was missing for six days. Eventually, Michael, the archangel, found him resting on the seventh day. He inquired, "Where have you been?"

God smiled deeply and proudly pointed downwards through the clouds, "Look Michael. Look what I've made."

Archangel Michael looked puzzled, and said, "What is it?"

"It's a planet," replied God, and I've put life on it. I'm going to call it Earth and it's going to be a place to test Balance."

"Balance?" inquired Michael, "I'm still confused."

God explained, pointing to different parts of Earth. "For example, northern Europe will be a place of great opportunity and wealth, while southern Europe is going to be poor. Over here I've placed a continent of white people, and over there is a continent of black people. Balance in all things."

God continued pointing to different countries. "This one will be extremely hot, while this one will be very cold and covered in ice."

The Archangel, impressed by God's work, then pointed to a land area and said, "What's that one?"

"That's Wisconsin, the most glorious place on earth. There are beautiful rivers and streams, lakes, forests, and hills. The people from Wisconsin are going to be handsome, modest, intelligent, and humorous, and they are going to travel the world. They will be extremely sociable, hardworking, high achieving, carriers of peace, and producers of good things. Champions shall come from here!"

Michael gasped in wonder and admiration, but then asked, "But what about balance, God? You said there would be balance."

God smiled, "I will create Minnesota, wait till you see the clowns I put there. They will field a football team to provide entertainment, will wear purple and play in a domed stadium."

Michael inquisitively asked, "Why a domed stadium?"

God chuckled and said, "You see Michael... even I don't want to watch them play football."

How come the Packers are always sold out and only have the 97% attendance, according to Portfolio the Vikings had 98%.

Jesse in SF

Hey Jesse... I know I read your email but this morning it's nowhere to be found... (so I re-created it from the corners of my beer-stained mind) the 97% attendance ranking for the Packers in the Portfolio's Success Index is probably based on "paid" attendance versus "walk past the turnstile" attendance and as-for the Vikqueens, Favre was the reason that last year, and I would guess last year only that they've been anywhere near 98% to full capacity attendance for the year.  BK

Packers Portfolio: 7th Of The 32 Teams...

Portfolio.Com decided to rate the success index of the NFL's 32 teams using the following categories: Record, Points, Attendance, and Franchise Value.

7. Green Bay Packers
    Success Score: 64.88 points
    Record: 11-5-0
Average margin: 10.25 points per game
    Playoffs: Lost in early round
    Average home attendance: 70,708
    Percent of capacity: 97
    Franchise value: $1.02 billion
No surprise that the Packers at 7th lead the NFC North in this classification, Vikings came in at 8th, Bears were 22nd, and the Lions brought up the rear at 32nd.

Here's the story over at Portfolio.Com: National Football League Success Index

Update: It might help to include the link to Portfolio's methodology: NFL Success: A Methodology

Spew Off Speak Out...
Well we knew that Brett Favre was coming back... we didn't know that it would require Viking football players Jared Allen, Steve Hutchinson and Ryan Longwell (are kickers considered football players?) to have to go retrieve him from Mississippi and drag his sorry ass up to the Vikings training camp.

So it's good news, the NFC North had got more interesting and the Vikings never ending quest for Super Bowl legitimacy will forever be found on the edge of the road, next to the flattened skunk, with a noticeable reek that will leave us Packers fan laughing forever. Go Pack Go!!!

You people are pathetic. Why don't you discuss your team, the Packers, and stop obsessing about Brett Favre. Maybe your obsession is because Brett destroyed your team twice last year. Maybe it's because Brett found his real home in Minnesota, where the fans, staff and players appreciate his greatness. Your bitterness make you look stupid, which is fitting for a bunch of losers like yourselves. I will be in Lambeau again this year to witness Favre and the Vikes destroy your Packers on their home turf. It will be twice as gratifying this year. You all disgust me.

Adam, brother of Crazy Jesse

Hey Adam, there's a word for fans like you - it's called "projection". Love him or hate him, or just waiting for him to actually retire before loving him again - BF is the starting QB of our main rival for the NFC North title this year. Best part, BF is jerking the Vikes around like he started to jerk around the Packers during his last few years. Vikes will be lucky to finish above 8-8 this year.  BK

Did anyone notice that NOW Brief Fart doesn't trust Brad Childress. Remember last year when he wouldn't leave the field. Remember when he told TT that he wanted Randy Moss on the team and Steve Mariucci as his coach. It seems that besides being the greatest QB in the history of civilization(his opinion). He believes that he can also coach and be general manager. Me thinks that the reason he can't retire is that he believes the NFL can not exist without him. Who would want to be responsible for that???

I know that Craig Newsome was #21 from 95-99 and Charles Woodson now wears that number with distinction. Is there any one that could help me? Thanks ! ( I love my wife dearly, but where's her priorities?)

Scott of Chippewa Falls

Hey Scott, according to my Packers Media Guide, former number 21's include S-Earl Little (2005), CB-Bhawoh Jue (2001-04), S-Garry Berry (2000), CB-Craig Newsome (1995-98) and then a bunch of no-names although you could throw RB-Brent Fullwood (1987-90) and DB-Bob Jeter (1963-70) in there as mentionable. Current #21 DB-Charles Woodson (2006-present) deserves to be mentioned too. BK
_____________________________________

Regarding Scott's 21 question, which BK answered so very adequately!~~~ No one ever made 21 stand out as a player on the Packers' till Woodson. Remember Bhawoh Jue & Newsome made some good plays during their time to remember the names. Give your wife a break! She never said her son's name? (must not have been proud of his term as 21?)

We had heard out of Minnesota that it was match made in heaven, and now from Greg T in Minneapolis comes the photographic proof - "She Said Yes" - and Vikqueen fans are rejoicing. All it took was a bunch of guys to get down on their knees and re-propose their commitments with a new engagement ring on top of millions of dollars more to woo the immortal QB back into the fold, and well, you know, there's nothing wrong with that. No really! BF only wins games, he deserves the money, it's the rest of the team that lost those games last year. Just saying.... that nothing pleases this Packers fan more than to have the Queenie's throw all their nuts into 1 basket again this year. Go Pack Go!!!

...after a few hours I decided that the dresses didn't look purplish enough so... above image altered by BeerKid to make it look more Vikqueenish than originally submitted. Refresh your cache where appropriate.

Allright boys.... prove that a few experts deserve their pay and show us something solid against the Colts!

JONNY C

Hey Jonny C, I hope that 59-24 shellacking of the Colts was what you had in mind... Now to carry that over into the regular season opener against the Eagles.  BK

Beerkid, How can I get a copy of the wedding picture??

dfarmer

Hey dfarmer, it's pretty easy to save any picture at anyone's website, just right-click on the image and save it to the Desktop folder. Personally, I just normal left-click-and-hold on the image in question and just drag it to my Desktop. Simple as that. Oh I added the link to the larger image of the She Said Yes Wedding Photo.  BK

Well, that was fun to watch, wasn't it? Especially in the second half when some of the second- and third-stringers made some noise.

I loved the halftime story on the players riding the kids' bikes. What still amazes me is that those bikes don't collapse (especially the wheels/tires) under the weight of some of those players, as clearly they are designed for kids, not 280-lb. linemen!

GO PACK!!

What a Game Thursday the 26th I am from Indiana My father grew up a Packer Fan As his father was a big Don Hutson fan. Over my 44 years Ive watched the Packers and enjoyed this with my sons, and now my Grandson. To go to a game with my Father was an all time Dream. The Season tickets being almost outta reach for my pockets.

Dad came down with Prostate Cancer 2 years ago March I had a many Soul searching moments during thoses 2years of treatment Dad has been Cancer Free since March2010

I called him in May & said "Were going 2 GreenBay" He thought I had lost my mind Although I was only able to afford a PreSeason Game set of tickets I had realized time is Not always on your side I took both Mom & Dad and enjoyed your city, the people, the food(brett Favre Steak House) as well as Jon Gruden who was there Great pics of Dad & Jon The Amazing Tour of the Stadium & Hall of Fame!! I think Dad's all time high came the day of the Game when we had lunch at Burger King, you know "Havin it your way" Dad recognizes Mark Murphy sitting there Dad had bought a Book the day before at the ProShop "The Packers" So Dad approached Mark & asked "Are you the guy Im reading about" The 1 Mark was Gracious enough to take a moment and sign Dads Book and I got another couple of Great Photos Too top that Well The Packers did All the way from Indiana we traveled to see GreenBay play the Colts, and hoped for a Slaughter The Packers did just that Highest scoring Game in 38 years We sat at MidField Coltsside(Bummer), Section 119, Row 49 Again Just about as Perfect of seats u could hope 4 ever I wanted to extend my deepest Thanx for your Entire cities courteous Hospitality and wonderful experience in GreenBay!!

Now if I could just find a way to get some Season Tickets. The 4 Generation of Packers in my family would have another adventure to take. GO PACK GO

P.S. We must have GreenBay Humor. Dad had commented before the game that wouldn't it be Great if they carried Manninig off the Field Nothing too Serious Just rip his arm off!! LOL

Lori C.

Hey Lori, thanks for checking in and good to hear that your Dad is cancer free...   BK
