Speak Off Speak Out...

For the simple fact of Reggie being on the other side of the ball, not to mention other highly able operators, plus what I still have to call a very happy draw at the qb position, (yes I know the cons of Brett's game, but lets not forget the pros, too many to mention), I would have to make that a dead even draw. Plus both had very competent special teams, lets not forget Travis Jervey. Additionally either might be more than challenged by any of Lombardi's championship teams, 9 and 1 I recall in playoff games. A very happy situation to even be able to make such a comparison for the team you love.

LemonDrop! Thanks..... but WHEN have you ever seen this kind of football? NO WAY that '96-'97 could compare! This team would KILL the '96 champs! Sorry Reggie! but it's true!

Keep checkin in on my photos! Always adding more!

JONNY C

Hey Jonny C, I don't know if the 2011 team could kick the ass of the 96-97 team... but the game would definitely come down to the play of the QB's... the Gunslinger vs the Efficiency Expert... I'd go with the latter, probably...

Presagin' Packer Prognosticators...

Q:  Today, will the Green Bay Packers win their 12th game of the season against the New York Giants?

A:  It Is Decidedly So.

Magic Gold G-Ball

Packers head to New York to play the Giants in New Jersey and just like in their previous 18 games, the Packers, just like you after a snowfall having to go out and shovel off your driveway, will win their 12th game this year with little trouble and clinch the divisional title in the NFC North.

Green Bay takes care of their business and handles New York 29-16. The game will look close, but not really be close. Hey Der! Go Pack Go! Make it 12-0!!!

Spew Off Speak Out...

Packers Smack Giants - Clinch NFC North

The Packers took every hit that the NY Giants could lay on them, and when the Giants finally tied the game late at 35-35, and just like an over-sized musky hitting your bait, all it took was a couple big pass strikes from QB Aaron Rodgers to TE Jermichael Finley, WR Jordy Nelson and WR Greg Jennings and K Mason Crosby was able to make the chippy 31 yard FG and the Packers left New Jersey with a 38-35 win for a win-loss record of 12-0, and also clinching a playoff spot by winning (and with the Lions eventual loss to the Saints) the NFC North.

As long as LB Clay Matthews keeps making big plays, like his 38 yard INT return for a TD, it will be easier to overlook the lack of QB sacks we all keep looking for... oh yeah, he had a sack of Giant QB Eli Manning that forced a fumble recovered by DT B.J. Raji that helped out the under-manned Packers defense. LB's Robert Francois and D.J. Smith are playing well as backups, but the Packers are going to need a healthy Desmond Bishop and A.J. Hawk to continue this run to the playoffs.

Packers win a tough game on the road, earn their playoff spot, some lessons learned, and now time to run-out the rest of the season for that perfect 16-0 record. Screw that talk of needing to lose a game for whatever reasons, that's for losers, and the Packers are winners. Go Pack Go!

BeerKid - Always 12 Pack 4 Life!

Losing in the playoffs wouldn't be too bad. Losing in the SB after a 16-0 season would really suck because then we end up as the new Patriots. Egg on our faces for the rest of eternity.

You can't say the lockout didn't have an effect. The two best teams in the league (us and NO) have almost no defense.

don't know about anyone else, but this is almost surreal. I mean, last season was surreal - losing 15 players to IR, squeaking in as a Wildcard, going on the road for 3 playoff games... and then winning the Superbowl - Uh, that was surreal in and of itself.

But this is even more surreal. 12-0? Aaron Rodgers playing at a phenomenal level that most of the 'expert' talking-heads are saying they've never even witnessed before in the history of the league? It's almost too easy. That last drive yesterday... with 58 seconds left... I said to myself, "He's gonna pull this out." I barely freaken BLINKED, and he did.

This is surreal. If I'm dreaming, pleeze... don't wake me up.

Presagin' Packer Prognosticators...

Q:  With the Oakland Raiders coming to Lambeau Field this Sunday, will the Packers extend their record to 13-0?

A:  It Is Certain.

Magic Gold G-Ball

With the Packers offense sitting 4th in the league at 405 yards a game, and the Raiders sitting 12th at 367 yards you might think this game could be a close one. Throw in that the Packers defense is down there at 31st giving up 398 yards per game and Oakland is at 26th at 373 yards you might really believe this game is going to be a close one. I don't see that way at all.

Green Bay is going to roll the Raiders at Lambeau Field and improve their record to 13-0 this season by releasing their inner beasts. Packers 39, Raiders 13. Go Pack Go Make It 13-0!!!

Speak Out Speak Off...

Packers Boat-Race The Raiders 46-16

I've always had casual NFL fans who never understood why I never wanted the Packers to win in close competitive game manner, that I always preferred the Packers to win 55-10. Like Sunday's game against the Raiders, Packers kick off, still score first, and then run away from the Raiduh's to claim a 31-0 lead in the 2nd quarter, and cruise to a 46-16 win. Exactly the way I like my Packers' games.

Games like this allow the game-day experience and ambiance to settle on to other things, the taste of a good beer, the conversations will fellow fans on all things Packer-related. Yeah, with the Packers at 13-0 life is good, as in the "Life Is Good" with capital letters kind of way.

So how do you break down a game, where the backup ILB's each get an Interception, where QB Aaron Rodgers statistically plays his worst game of the year, gets replaced by his backup QB, oh, let me mention that the game that Matt Flynn starts for the Pack is the game they'll lose. A game where TE Jermichael Finley doesn't catch a pass, a game where FB John Kuhn is taking the hand-offs, you know, this was a game where Oakland was confident that they could take the Pack on their home field. You can't break it down without concluding that the Raiders are crap, the Packers are awesome, and there's nothing that a Packers fan can't expect except perfection... and it's coming. Go Pack Go!

Aaron has the Montana (and Unitas) genes. They gotta stay focused since the playoffs are one and done, but McCarthy is the best guy to keep them on track along with Wood, Drive etc. Yeah, I like blowouts too, I prefer the green monster that crushes opponenents, then I can enjoy a good shot or 4 of tequila.

Hey BK, Isn't there a 2012-2013 opponent list floating aroud somewhere out there on the internet? I know I've seen lists before where it showed teams' opponents for 2-3 years at a time, but I can't find our opponent list for next season. Anxious to see who we're lined up for!

Lady K

Hey Lady K, here's a breakdown of Packers opponents up until 2017, but you'll see the pattern that the NFL has etched in stone for now, next year the Packers play the NFC West, followed by NFC East, followed by NFC South....repeat over and over. As for the AFC, it goes South, followed by North, East, West...repeat again. The only thing that's still up in the air is the 2 games against NFC opponents that finish in the division standings the same as the Packers, next year it will be the 1st place teams in the NFC-East and NFC-South. The hat-tip goes to Johnny Road Trip for laying it all down.

Great win!!!!Had a huge Packer party here in Nebraska. Lots of Brats, wings and of course a couple wheels of cheese all washed down with plenty of beer!!!!!!! I love your analysis of the game. Spot on. Basically we can play an average game and still kick the crap out of the pretenders like the Raiders. Speaking of average, here in western Nebraska I am so sick about hearing about Tebow. Those Donkey fans are about to take a beatdown by the Patriots.

Hopefully we can finish this thing off. I hope we have leads like yesterday so we can keep the starter fresh, pull them at half time and still get the win.

CONGRATULATIONS to our beloved PACKERS on winning the Division and continuing their AMAZING run (12-0 and still rolling). Compared to last season, our injuries this year have been kept to a minimum but one injury stands out from last Sunday's game against the Giants that seems like such a waste and that would be to Andrew Quarless. He was injured while covering a kickoff on special teams. The Giants player waived one arm for an apparent fair catch but continued to run after catching the ball while mayhem ensued. The "Zebras" did not whistle the play dead and Quarless blows out his knee in the process and is lost for the season. Was I the only one yelling at the T.V. wondering W.T.F. was that?!?

Let's hope we take care of business against Da-Raiders, continue our winning ways and limit our injuries throughout the playoffs and on to Indy!!!

Presagin' Packer Prognosticators...

Q:  With all the changes in coaching and QB this week, will the Kansas City Chiefs prevent the Packers from going 14-0?

A:  No.

Magic Gold G-Ball

So KC gets a new head coach this week, too bad it's going to help them against the Packers. Having QB Kyle Orton start isn't going to help them either, because as ususal, the 13-0 Packers bring the better offensive team, the better defensive team, and the better coaching to this week's matchup against the Chiefs.

It looks like a repeat of Super Bowl 1 is in the making, Packers roll the Chiefs 35-10.

Spew Out Spew Off...

      Packers Finally Lose A Game...

Packers allow the Chiefs to roll them and make them play dead, and so it was, a 14-19 defeat. There might have been something worth commenting on, besides the dropped passes on offense and the complete lack of a pass rush by the Packers defense, but I can't think of it now... and it's all water under the bridge at this point. Packers lose.

On a lighter note.... I did spend 12 hours (6pm to 6am) pre-gaming which included a performance of the Drunk Drivers at the House Of Rock - here's a youtube video of them singing Gwyneth Paltrow which is pretty good song to close with, hey, if you think the Badgers and their jump-around can be fun, jam into a bar with these guys and all the beer-flinging rowdies (like me) who... drink alot and jump around. Bar-tips to everyone as the Whiskey-Coke's and Black-Top Ales were going down ultra-smoothly... yeah! Gwyneth Paltrow, Gwyneth Paltrow, Gwyneth Paltrow! Hell yeah!!!

I've read about all the "Potential" Finley has as tightend.

Well it's the third year for Finley as a Pro and what's he done lately, dropped three passes, caught one long pass and acted like a fool! Yeah he's what 23 years old and still acts very immature.

Finley could be great if he'd grow up!

Finley will get paid in his next contract even if the Franchise Tag amount if paid. Finley's had one truly good game this year and that was against the Bears, he needs another good game this Sunday against the Bears. In fact if Finley doesn't come through this week with a big game I'd say Finley will be like one of the hundreds before him that had "Potential" but never fully developed to the level of Greatness each thought they had.

Jimmy Graham and Finley are very much a like in the skills they bring to the game. There's a huge difference in performance though because Graham is making plays every week. Finley's talking about being a "Play Maker", it's time to stop the talking and make the plays. If Finley starts making plays the accolades will be heaped upon him from everyone and he won't need to bang his own drum. Stop the drumming and YOTTO demonstration right now, because Finley's drum beating sounds hollow!

Note to TT:   2012 draft list

#1 Pass Rushing Interior Lineman
#2 Pass Rushing Linebacker
#3 Left O-Line Tackle
#4 Pass Rushing Outside Linebacker
#5 Cover Cornerback
#6 Big Nose Guard
#7 Safety

An interior pass rush could solve a number of the present defensive problems. Where's the lift the D-Line was hoping for from Mike Neal? Neal must still be hurting because he's just a guy now!
v Loosing Sherrod to a badly broken leg might mean an end to his career. Truly a shame but it happens. If there's a Left Tackle available in the 1st or 2nd round take him! Rogers seemed gun shy Sunday and for good reason.

Can't wait much longer on finding a cover corner. If there was one on the roster he'd be playing by now. Woodson can be a great Safety but who fills Woodson's role at Cornerback? Woodson can still be near the line and blitz as a Safety.

The D-Line really missed Pickett this week. Finding a big man that can anchor the middle shouldn't be overlooked.

With all the help the Offense got in the 2011 Draft it's time to draft some Defensive players in 2012.

I still have faith. TT and gang need to be looking at who's available with the 2012 draft 32nd pick!

Presagin' Packer Prognosticators...

Q:  Are duh Chicago Bears going to win today in Green Bay against the Packers?

A:  Don't Count On It.

Magic Gold G-Ball

One would think that after last week's near embarrassment (I can give some credit to the Chiefs Defense) in Kansas City that the Packers ripe for the pickin' by duh Bears. You would think wrong. One might think that the Packers have a weakened offensive line that could be exploited by duh Bears defensive line. But again, you would be wrong. TJ Lang played most of last year as the Right Tackle and well, it's duh Bears, and the Packers are looking to clinch the 1st seed and home field advantage through-out the NFC Playoffs. Look for the Packers to shine.

Last time these 2 teams met at Soldier Field, duh Bears made it look closer than it really was in losing by 10 points. Today in historic Lambeau Field, the Packers will once again strike fear unto duh Bears and into the rest of the NFC playoff contenders... Packers stomp on duh Bears 31-12 and throw their carcasses down in front of the green-n-gold fireplace to where all good rugs and door-mats belong. Go Pack Go! Start The Playoff Roll! Go Pack Go!     Packers Blast duh Bears 35-21
Secure 1st Seed in the NFC Playoffs

Yo Ho Ho! The Packers have the home-field advantage through-out the NFC Playoffs after beating down duh Bears in a near blow-out win that gives the Pack the 1st seed in the upcoming playoffs. Yeah, duh Bears were a little under-manned, but presented no match to the now 14-1 Green Bay Packers.

So the 2011 NFL Season has come down to one more home game against Detroit, more than likely joining San Francisco in a week off, and then another home game against either New Orleans, Atlanta, Detroit, Dallas or New York depending on how the rest of the seedings fall into place. Last year it was the 3-on-the-road to make it to the Super Bowl, this year the path could be easier with 2-at-home to qualify. Go Pack Go!!!

Hey I got my Christmas wish... Packers host the Road to the Super Bowl. Ho Ho Yo!

Hey Chica, that's awesome, like a cat in a Packers hat wouldn't win in any state, none the less, congrats to you and Riley - now that's completely unlike my cat who almost won something once, but he lost points for drinking a Heineken and then falling asleep on the couch before being presented and judged. At least he finished his cigarette before passing out.

Man, I was doing some backtracking and Beerkid predicted an undefeated season. And with the minor hiccup from KC that is one hellava educated guess. Take down Sue and the lions and let's get ready for some playoffs!!! Dom Capers this is your time to flip the script. Play to win and win we shall. XLVI or Die!

LiferPackfan

Hey LiferPackfan, my prediction really wasn't all that bold, I was just using the predictive scale that a duh Bears fan gUrt was using to get his duh Bears to 12-4... 16-0 seemed to be the only conclusion I could come to against that drivel.

Hey Beer Kid....and all those who make this site such a destination....thanks for providing Packers' fans around the country...nay, the world....a place to chill and spill some news on our favorite team!! Good humor, vast knowledge, and some of the most stoopid (in the best sense) fun you can have without breakin' the law.

Plus, you've got a photo of dudes swimmin' in ice with one of my favorite beverages....a frosty, cold "Old Style".

Have a fantastic 2012, and keep bringin' the cheese as we chase another Super Bowl.

Skol!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Beerkid!

We lost a game, so the pressure of perfection is off. We'll be better off for it. And then Rodgers goes to 7-2 against Duh Bums. Gotta love that.

Time to rest some guys. I don't even care if the Lions win and get their third 11-win season since they relocated to Detroit from some hell-hole called Portsmouth, OH, some 700 years ago. The Lions can enjoy a little fun before the whole place goes up in flames around them.

Steaming towards Championship #14. GO PACKERS!!!!!

It's amazing to me that as ugly as the Pack played in the first half, they still had a 14-3 lead at the half. This is what makes them winners. Not rush yards or time of possesion or any other stats except the numbers on the scoreboard. And then they just took the game over in the 3rd quarter. How much fun it is to watch the Pack win this year. I just found out this morning, that I am a part owner in the Packers franchise. The best gift I have ever received. It's my Red Ryder BB gun. Merry Christmas Packer fans everywhere!

A perfect season wasn't happening in reality and I knew the Chiefs were a trap game. Sooo now the Loins made it into the playoffs. *clap*clap*clap*clap* We shouldn't have to deal with them in January (I don't think) because I don't see an inexperienced team like that getting past the winner of the NFCE or South. Most likely we get SF or NO or the Cowboys/Giants in the divisional round. And we never lose home playoff games except when Brett Favre chokes, and he's no longer there to choke. Our crap D is the only real concern I have.

For now anyway, we got da Bears at home. Doesn't mean much for us except seeding, but they'll still try to win and keep their faint playoff shot alive.

And then we end the season playing the kitties. We may still be competing with Frisco for the #1 seed and they may still be trying for the #5. But I think it's more likely both teams rest their starters.
