Hey CC, that would be the infamous "Never Been That Far Before..." from 2002 featuring Conway Sherman. As a side note... when you are on any of our animations or logo's, the beerkid icon at the bottom of the page takes you to the "team" page, that may help narrow down the search when trying to wade the over-swamped waters of 14 years of Packer Palace. Packers Verses Vikings...

It Took A While But Now It's Time
To Dissect Our Two Favorite Teams
Each Did A Little Better Than Expected
Both Fell A Little Short Of Our Dreams

Over In Green Bay Change Was Everywhere
As New Schemes And Coaches Were In Place
Defensive Stars Were Out Of Position
And Their Play Was Nearly A Disgrace

Likewise On The Offensive Side
The Team Wavered Between Hot And Cold
Sometimes Looking Like They'd Conquer The World
At Others Looking Slow And Old

Aaron Rodgers Took The Brunt
Of His Offensive Line's Shortcomings
But He'd Stand In And Take Those Hits
Until His Head Had To Be A-Humming

If It Weren't For Great Receivers
The Packers' Record Would Have Been Dismal
For Without Being Able To Block
The Runnng Game At Times Looked Abysmal

By Midseason The Pack Was Four And Four
And The Future Wasn't Looking All That Bright
But Then It Seemed A Miracle Happened
As The Team Got Better Almost Overnight

They Kept Rodgers On His Feet
And There Were Holes For The Running Backs
The Defense Started Stopping The Run
And Piling Up Some Sacks

Charles Woodson Played Lke A Master Corner
While Clay Matthews Was A Great Surprise
Their Play Demonstrated Their Leadership
Which Inspired The Rest Of The Guys

The Season's Second Half Rolled By
With A Record Of Six And Two
Gaining This Packers Team Some Respectability
And A Berth In The Postseason Too

So After All The Drama And Excitement
The Pack Faced The Cardinals In Their Dome
They Fought Tooth And Nail Right Into Overtime
Where L A Mistake Sent The Green Bay Packers Home

But This Offseason Won't Be Spent Moping
As The Pack Is On The Edge Of Great Things
By Adding A Few Of The Proper Pieces
This Team Could Be Contending For A Ring

Yes Many Things Are Happening
And Most Are To Green Bay Fans' Liking
And Next Season You Just Wait And See
They'll Be Beating Up On Those Darned Vikings

The Vikings' Lockers Have Also Been Emptied
Most Of The Players Have Headed For Home
Leaving Behind Shattered Expectations
That Were Crushed In The Superdome
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For The Vikings Believed This Was Their Year
And Said "We'll Do Whatever It Takes"
Going So Far As Signing Brett Favre
Who's Known For Making The Big Mistake

With A Supporting Cast That Looked Outstanding
On Both Offensive And Defensive Teams
And Adding Percy Harvin To Peterson And Company
Ensured They Were As Fearsome As They Seemed

Favre's Talents Helped Develop The Young Guys
Like Shiancoe, Berrian And Sidney Rice
Who Already Possessed Notable Speed
Now They Learned To Keep Their Routes Precise

Behind This Collection Of Players
The Vikings Started Pretty Well
Only Losing One Of The First Twelve Games
And Looking Like They'd Could Do Nothing But Excel

Then Somehow Things Began To Go Awry
As The Defense Developed Some Leaks
And Injuries Began To Take Their Toll
Knocking Key Players Out For Weeks

Still And All They Won The Number Two Seed
And Just Blew Out The Cowboys At Home
Earning Their Way To The Championship Game
Down In The New Orleans Superdome

This Wasn't A Game For The Fainthearted
As The Teams Managed To Stay Neck And Neck
Until The Vikings Started To Self-Destruct
Leaving Fans Screaming "What The.....Heck?"

And At The End Of A Remarkable Game
Albeit One Filled With Mistakes And Fumbles
The Vikes Came Up A Little Short At The End
When The Quarterback's Last Play Was Bumbled

As The Final Few Seconds Ticked Away
Packer Fans Felt A Sense Of Deja Vu
As With The Vikes' Run To Miami In His Hands
A Horrendously Bad Ball He Threw

After The Pickoff Overtime Ensued
And The Saints Won The Game Just Fine
When Everything Was Said And Done
Brett Wasn't Ready For Prime Time

WOW! What a season! The Packers showed that, with a little help in the offseason, they should be among the contenders next season. At least they'll be fun to watch !! Meanwhile-the vikes are still licking their wounds from the OT loss to the Saints, and are about to climb aboard the Brett Favre merry-go-round.

Have fun braid-wearers..........

Packers Are Souper-Bowl Champions... Again!

Thanks to everyone who put in the effort to re-vote as much as possible in the Chunky Click For Can's Souper-Bowl match-up between the Packers and Jaguars.

Jag fans never had a chance as Packer fans voted over a 100 thousand times, doubling the votes for the Jags.

The Packers are once again, the uncompromising and never give up, never surrender, for the 8th consecutive year, Chunky's 2009 Souper Bowl Champions!!! Congratulations to everyone.

Spew Off Speak Out...

Today, football officials at Minnesota Vikings headquarters have just announced that "just like previous years, the Vikings are just a Quarterback away from making the Super Bowl."

In other news.... you do the math on the Vikings season - 10 Pro Bowl Players + no Super Bowl Appearance = EPIC FAIL!

If you want a good chuckle, go to this vikings board www.nfcnorth.com, and read some of the threads there on the loss. 99% of the "fans" there are blaming the refs for the loss. Claiming "the fix was in" for New Orleans to win the game (because we all know there is a "conspiracy" against the Vikings around the league). LMAO

Yeah, right. These are the exact same fans that always claimed the refs "protected" Brett when he was a Packer and every time the Packers beat the queens it was *always* because of bad calls by the refs. They're also bitching and whining that the Saints played "dirty" and took a gazillion cheap shots at Favre, trying to injure him. Which again, the refs did nothing about, because they wanted New Orleans to be in the Superbowl.

Vikingfan: a whiny, blame everything and everyone except poor play by the team, sorry excuse for a "fan".

Of course, the interception was no big surprise and is Favre's fault entirely. The 12th man in the huddle is partly to blame on Lord Favre, also. Watch A-Rod--he stands away from the huddle, counts the players, and then enters the huddle. Favre is a veteran who makes rookie mistakes at crucial times. Favre was very tough against the Saints and took a beating but did anyone else notice how much more pronounced his limp became after the game?

Hey, I was just wondering, now that the queens have lost in the most glorious fashion and at the hand of Brent Favre no less. Do you think Brent thinks that team was the 'best he has ever played with.'? Since, you know, the team he played with back in 1995-96 WON A FU#KING SUPER BOWL, and, ahem, this queen team didn't.

Good luck queens with the retiring drama for the next 6 months.

ray, I don't know what you tried to post here that was deleted, but I just wanted to say that the "I used to like green" quote from that QueenFavre commercial really torqued me off too. Yeah, I know it was meant to be "cute", and I know it's only television (advertising, at that), but something about him "making fun of" the Packers just strikes me as, well... not funny. It's just rubbing salt in the wound for all of the Packer faithful who believed in him, supported him, and put up with/forgave him for his 'youthful transgressions' (vicodin, pal-ing around with Chewey, partying, etc.). The Green Bay Packers and their fans were better to (and FOR) Brett Favre than ANY other NFL franchise ever could have been.

And by all of his actions (and words) over the past two years, it's clear that not only does he not appreciate that, but he just doesn't even get it.

He sickens me. Frankly, I am torn between wanting him to get the hell out of the league for good, and wanting him to remain in Minny and play for umpteen more years. The latter might *almost* be worth having to put up with more of the insulting bullshit from him, in order to continue to be able to enjoy watching him sink the team. After all, he's only getting older. While our boy Aaron is only getting BETTER.

I'm up for another 2 "FavreBowls" next year, the more I think about it. Because I think we'll win at least one of them. And it sure would be sweet in either venue - the Dump, or Lambeau.

At least he's Minny's problem now. He claims he's not going to keep the team waiting very long for his "decision." Yeah. Right. Like *anything* that comes out of his mouth anymore can be taken seriously. I hope he does string 'em along. Right up til late August would be perfect.

Chica

p.s. - Don't hold your breath on that "public apology". Such a thing requires an awareness that one did something wrong in the first place. And secondly, it requires class and grace. None of which the Traitor possesses.

51 Days...

A bartender in Wisconsin is sitting behind the bar on a typical day, when the door bursts open and in come four exuberant Viking fans. They come up to the bar, order five bottles of champagne and ten glasses, take their order over and sit down at a large table. The corks are popped, the glasses are filled and they begin toasting and chanting, "51 days, 51 days, 51 days!"

Soon, three more Viking fans arrive, take up their drinks and the chanting grows."51 days, 51 days, 51 days!" Two more Viking fans show up and soon their voices are joined in raising the roof. "51 days, 51 days, 51 days!" Finally, the tenth Viking fan comes in with a picture under his arm. He walks over to the table, sets the picture in the middle and the table erupts.

Up jumps the others, they begin dancing around the table, exchanging high-fives, all the while chanting "51 days, 51 days, 51 days!" The bartender can't contain his curiosity any longer, so he walks over to the table. There in the center is a beautifully framed children's puzzle of Ragnar, the Vikings Mascot.

When the frenzy dies down a little bit, the bartender asks one of the Viking fans, "What's all the chanting and celebration about?" The fan who brought in the picture pipes in, "'Cuz we've never won a SuperBowl, everyone thinks that Viking fans are dumb-asses and they make fun of us. So, we decided to set the record straight. Ten of us got together, bought that puzzle and put it together.

Speak Out Spew Off...

It's Sunday, hours before the New York Jets@Indianpolis Colts on CBS and the later Minnesota Vikings@New Orleans Saints game on FOX... and man o man, let me say, my least favorite teams in the NFL, just happen to be 2 of the 4 teams left, yes, the Vikings and the J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets.

Oh duh Chicago Bears fit in there somewhere too, but a New York Jets vs Minnesota Vikings Super Bowl would be... well, I'm not sure I'd watch that game. Former Green Bay Packers and New York Jets and now current Minnesota Vikings QB Brett Favre or no Brett Favre.

So.... here's hoisting a cold one to a New Orleans Saints vs Indianapolis Colts Super Bowl. Go Saints! (ah gawd, what's that after-taste in my mouth) Go Packer Pro Bowl Players!!! (that's better)

Update:   Vikings lose in OT, 28-31 to the Saints, and with the Colts win over Jets 30-17 so we're going to have a New Orleans Saints vs Indianapolis Colts for Super Bowl XLIV.

In the NFC Championship game, Viking QB Bret Favre looked pretty good in a hard fought game against the blitzing Saints defense, taking a tremendous beating all game long, but still standing at the end, and all those fumbles aside, we get the classic "Jay Cutler INT throw" (sorry Jay, but if you're going to have 17 of your 26 INTS be of that type of weak throw across the field, it's eventually going to be named after you) anyway, then the classic INT that all of us Packers fans have so fond memories of by Bret Favre, compiling a mistake on top of the previous play's mistake and the Vikings last chance to win was gone. Saints take all day to drive a handful of yards and kick a 40yd FG to win. Even with that finish, I'm still not in favor of changing the OT rules.... fair or not fair as it may seem to the Vikings SB chances.

In the AFC Championship game some QB who was 2nd in the NFL in most INT's lost to the QB who's been around forever. No one but J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets fans were surprised.

Hey, I got the Super Bowl I wanted, umm, forced to endure out of the remaining 4 teams that the NFL had left. I finally get the correct prognosticatin' vibe and I didn't put any money down. Damn....

yeah, sorry if i actually became so rage consumed by Brett's pre game commercial with the "ah use to like green" quote, set against a backdrop of this years team having been the best he ever played on that I contributed a line of bile so strong that it actually had to be edited on a board that will let you write nearly anything. I suppose I need to get a life. And to throw the mirror of hypocrisy back on myself, I will be one of the cretins welcoming him back, when he does come back. Brett for the 1000 th time played bravely yesterday.

The highest compliment I can give him as a 53 yo man is he has impossibly moved alongside Bart and Ray as my favorite Packers ever. But whenever I see him jumping up and down celebrating Packer defeat at Lambeau some primordial beast comes out of me. My wish is that Packer fans take a much more balanced view of the job TT has done, worthy, if not of praise, then of one hell of a lot more patience than Packer fans have showed him. What was it he said when he had to sign Brett's release? Even if Aaron wins 3 times here, it is unlikely I will ever love him more than Brett. But Brett as a Viking clearly brings out something very ugly in me. So, Sorry. Forever grateful for your miraculous board, and the lovely Packer girls who would make such cool cheerleaders in my bong world. So lucky to have Aaron. Thank you Ted Thompson. God speed and continued clear vision to you, may your blinders always be securely on.

I still will always hold that Brett owes him a very public apology, and after all the bile spewed about TT, I don't particularly care what others perception is, God knows you have already been heard all too loud and clear.

BK, any word on A-Rod's retirement decision...oh that's right! Head to the dailynorseman.com for some real entertainment: not sure if it is funny or surreal...oddly feels like the end of the 2007 campaign for our dear Green and Gold...Favre throws an ill advised pass late in the game, everyone wonders if he'll retire. Actually the comparison stops there as the Sage/Tavarious options at QB post-Favre retirement make the Vikings laughable. As painful as it's been the last couple of weeks, I am hoping Favre comes back for another year, the drama he brings is priceless and our boys deserve another shot at that purple clad geriatric QB.

Well, well, well. I'll even go "third person" for this rare occasion. First of all, Ruppert says "when you sign a dick to be your quarterback, he will screw you." It basically doesn't matter what happens during the 16 regular season games. What matters to Ruppert is the playoffs. And once again, Butt Fart managed to piss away a chance at a Super Bowl with another totally stupid INT in OT. It's hard to fathom, actually, how a guy could make yet another totally asinine decision when a trip to the Super Bowl was on the line. And in true Favre fashion, the latest indiscretion is probably the most heinous. None of us Packers fans could possibly believe that he could f*ck up worse than he did against the Giants...but he did.

Sure, the Drag Queens fans can point to every other dumb play that their purple-clad warriors made during the game, and say how "this isn't Favre's fault." But they are all dumb. And wrong. As usual. The Brett Favre era in Minnesota turned out to be yet another painful, horrible chapter in the choking history of a pathetic, horrible football franchise. GO PACKERS, NOW AND FOREVER!!!!!

I hope someone has the presence of mind years from now to replay this new commercial where Brett is heard to say "Ah used to like green." At the moment when an element of we Packer Backers will be knocking themselves over to "welcome him home." As much as he lead me out of 29 years in the football wilderness it is not just a commercial to me, it is Brett pissing on Curly Lambeau, Don Hutson, Vince Lombardi, Bart Starr, Ray Nitschke, well you know the roll call. You broke my heart asshole. I will never forget. Unlike the Vikings the Packers are not an occasional diversion, and its legend you are clearly unworthy of. Be very grateful the talons of the Chicago mob do not extend to Green Bay, generally speaking, or that restaurant would have been in flames long ago. I hope residents think twice about giving it business, but I am sure they don't. May football justice be brought down upon your traitorous head today, although I have a near certainty it won't, as evil is celebrated in all its forms here in 2010. I still hold the day will come when you will regret your treachery. I want to hear more... (edited: come on dude, that's really harsh) O to hear your bones snap but Nitschke, Deacon Jones and Dick Butkus are no longer around, let alone Joey Batters aka Big Tuna aka Tony Accardo.

A pox of a nightmarish tone be upon you. It ain't so much a problem with your wanting to continue to play ball as the deception as to what actually went down at Green Bay, where it is taken as fact that the Packers didn't want him anymore, end and beginning of story. And whatever else is perceived of Ted Thompson, usually wildly incorrectly by the tea party element of Packer fans who feel the need to express their opinions in block letters,facts be damned, lacking the intelligence for their words to speak for themselves, he is completely without guilt in the Favre affair, though he manfully has taken part of the blame, when as far as what is known publicly, he is guilty of jackshit. If justice were served, and it so rarely is, it is us who gave u birth, and by rights us who should take u down, it just makes me sick to know how passionately your ass will be kissed once time has passed. Speak up of your own guilt right now asshole, much as you did during your retirement speech, or know that there is an element, albeit a small one, of Packer fans who will never forgive u. You filthy prick.

He obviously had an off-week....at first I thought I was listening to a church hymnal, which is fine in and of itself, but a fight-song for a team entering an NFC championship game?? This song will NOT stir the masses...I thought I'd never say this, but bring back 'Pants on the Ground'! Ha ha

Btw Beerkid, have to say I love the Ditka crawfish....creepy, but funny! Can't wait til August...such a long time off. What ever will I do until preseason comes around? Help!

I am not understanding Packer fans that want the Vikes to lose to the Saints??? Me? I am Favre fan, not a blind one, because I was tired of his crap and Rodgers is better at this point than Favre was. The Vikes just have more talent then Pack at this point.

If your a Favre hater it seems that a Super Bowl loss would be a more bitter pill to swallow than a NFC Championship loss. It would be rougher for Minnesota and its fans to get to Miami and the Big Dance and lose to the Jets (would be classic) or the Colts. I am still not over our Denver loss...

here's a suggestion: do the opposite of what you would normally do. root for Favre to beat the Saints and maybe the Saints will win. i mean, the anti-Favre contingent rooted against Favre in the Dallas game and that didn't work...

as i don't make predictions, i'm just hoping Sunday's NFC Championship is a good game. and to whoever was screaming about that last TD pass to Shiancoe in the Dallas game, that play wasn't called by Favre. nice try. course then you'll say Favre audibled that call, so he's damned regardless. someone explain to me why Dallas called all three of their timeouts with 6:30 left on the clock if they thought they were beat? i mean, why extend the game longer than it should be if the game was out of reach???

Packers Verses Vikings...

The Playoff Process Continues
It's Natural Selection At Its Best
As The Weaker Teams Are Eliminated
While The Strongest Pass The Test

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fresh From Their Win Over Green Bay
The Cardinals Ran Headlong Into New Orleans
Where The Saints Administered A Beating
That Nearly Could Have Been Called Obscene
Likewise The 'Mighty' Dallas Cowboys
Rode Bravely Into The Metrodome
Where Brett Favre Unleashed An Offensive Storm
Showing Why The Vikings Don't Lose At Home
The Saints Are Now Waiting For The Vikes
Who'll Come To Visit Sunday Afternoon
Each Team Is Ready And Willing For This Game
That To Them Can't Come Too Soon
Both Quarterbacks Are Ranked Among The Best
While The Rest Of Their Teams Aren't Far Behind
The Score Here Could Be So Big And Close
The Winning Coach Will Be The Most Creative Mind
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Somehow San Diego's Chargers Made The Mistake
Of Letting A Lesser Opponent Hang Around
And Sure Enough With Good Running And Defense
The Jets Pulled The Favorites To The Ground

The Ravens Thought They Had Reson To Believe
That They Might Get To Peyton Manning
But When Push Came To Shove The Indianapolis Colts
Found The Way To Be The Last Team Standing

This Week It's The Colts Against The New York Jets
In A Game That Seemingly Should Be One Sided
As A Rookie Quarterback Goes Against Peyton Manning
With A Berth In The Big Game To Be Decided

No Matter How Romantic It Might Seem To Be
To See A Return By The Jets After All These Years
The Indianapolis Colts Are Just Too Good
To Even Consider The Jets As Peers

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Colts Should Hardly Break A Sweat
As They Send The Jets Crashing To The Ground
While Sanchez And His Team May Make It A Game
It's Indianapolis Who Is Going To Win This Round
The Vikings Have Been To Four Super Bowls
While The Saints Haven't Managed A Trip As Yet
Though Favre And The Vikes Might Be The Favorite
It's On New Orleans That You Should Bet
Shades of 2007 happening to the Vikes!!! Could it be...I just sense this happening. With the Bandwagon Fans starting to "Hope" in Favre, I believe he will rip their hearts out with some audibles that fail miserably. I predict Sharper two picks with one big run back putting the game out of reach for the BYEQUEENS. Oh, Mckenzie most likely with grab his pick as well. GO Pack and my second favorite team for Sunday - NO!!! With Rodgers and some O-line and D upgrades we will own the Division for 2010 and on. I cannot wait!!! Will Favre retire after being so close? Ohhh those poor Minniehopeless fans, they do not know what they got themselves into...the drama to continue.
Wanna see the Saints give an old fashioned beat-down on Favre and the rest of those Purple Panzies.
Admittedly I'm not fond of Jerry Jones and his team but what Favre pulled was pretty classless. When you're up by 24 points and you have the ball deep in your opponent's territory with 2 minutes to go you keep the ball on the ground and run the clock down.
Instead he tosses a TD pass to rub the 'Boy's faces in it and/or set his personal post season "TD's in one game mark" record. In any case it was pretty cheap of him and I hope it motivates the Saints "D" to kick his ass all over the Viking end of the field.
At The Rockwood Lodge In 2006...
Big Ol' Jet Airliner... PackSquatchin' The Jets!
And In 2009...
Half Yellow or Let That Be Your Last Battlefield!
Spew Off Speak Out...
Sunday's Playoff Recap: The Dallas Cowboys looked like their cheerleaders, or better yet, like their counterparts the Dallas Desire in the Lingerie Football League and that style of play on the field, and with predictable results against a high-powered team on it's home turf, the Minnesota Vikings put a bitch-slapping down on Cowboys, in a game that was close right up until when with barely 2 minutes left in the evenly-matched close game, a moment so crucial it required the almighty BF to throw another 4th quarter TD on 4th down in the closing moments to ensure that the Vikings would squeak out a win at 34-3. With pantsdowning congratulations, the ever-prideful of their play Vikings are off to New Orleans as a result and geez, after watching the Cowgirls play like that, makes you wonder how the Packers would have faired in that game.
Some other team beat some other team in light rain... oh wait, that would be New York Jets playing the mediocrity card right up until the bitter end, but heh, what can you say, actually not much, because they won in San Diego 17-14 and give themselves, as the only wild-card entry left in the playoffs, the compelling Cinderella story to match the Overbearing story sure to come on Peyton Manning and the Colts and just how smart it was to rest those key players down the stretch during those last few games. Eeeks! A prediction I didn't want to be right on.
Hey Beer Kid and Beerscout!
Awesome Rockwood Lodge video posted for the Pack - Card game! Aaron and the receivers gotta get the deep ball timing figured out... Had a great time watching the game at Billy's in Austin with all the other Packer Fans.
RETURNING: At the dallas/fort worth airport: I really enjoyed the 10 year-old kid talking "smack" to the +40 year guy wearing what looked like "a brand new viking randy moss jersey". Here in the busy airport this kid was walking by the guy with his mom and other little brother, without provocation, he said, "vikings are going down!"
Flight back - a serious note: Had some severe problems on the return flight yesterday both departing dallas, and arriving in minneapolis. Man was the ride rough... This morning on TV, a National Weather Service Meteorologist said, "That an unusually large low pressure area (vacuum) has engulfed both cities since their football teams have entered the playoffs... He was sure, however, that both of the teams seasons would end very soon."
Go Pack, Go!
To recap Saturday's games.... Thanks to the 1 big bottle of Chimay Triple, 1 big bottle of Stone IPA, and then the 6-pack of Stone Ruination Ale which capped off the game-day activities at Packer Palace for BeerScout and myself. Actually the pro that he is, BeerScout went out looking for more...
The Arizona Cardinals get their butts kicked big time by the New Orleans Saints, who win at home 45-14 and will be expecting the winner of the Dallas Cowboys - Minnesota Vikings matchup. Geez.... Make you wonder what the Packers would have done in New Orleans.
Indianapolis Colts put a beat-down on the Baltimore Ravens, 20-3, and will be hosting the winner of the New York Jets - San Diego Chargers game next Sunday
Reminder that the Packers have 4 players involved with the Pro Bowl the week before the Super Bowl game. Alternate rookie OLB Clay Matthews was added recently to the festivities in Miami, to go along with original selections QB Aaron Rodgers, CB & Defensive Player of the Year Charles Woodson, and S Nick Collins.
More to come?
Hey Scott... Hard to disagree with that...  BK
It is so funny to hear from the BANDWAGON Vikes fans. This is the same team that has failed miserably in the playoffs for years. Is Favre the answer? Do they really think this? He is better then what they had. Maybe this year the Vikes will not have a QB with a 45 rating like TJack last year. I've lived in MN for almost a decade and cannot tell you how many of these fans have taped the games for years or found something better to do then be disappointed. For some reason these same Vike fans think they have already won the Super bowl knowing this feeling will be their downfall in the end. Do not count your chickens before they hatch? Favre is 0-3 in the postseason vs. Dallas. If not Dallas beating the Vikes it will be 1999 all over again with AZ/NO putting their lights out. It may be the Jets... would that not be poetic justice?
Lately, being only 5 days after the Packer Loss it is quite embarrassing to hear from these bandwagon fans who have not won anything in the postseason yet, but believe they need to get their final say in since our "Championship level Pack team" were one play or stop from playing next week. Did Arizona not play in the Super Bowl last year? The other side of the coin is for the team that Favre left behind? Both the Pack and Jets are still playing at a high level with or without Favre. How is this possible? Pack fans we are so close to being the Division leader again and this is what excites me for the next decade. I believe the Vikes are afraid of what will happen... as always does and they fall well short of the Super Bowl goal. Once their loss happens this year... will the Vikes fire Childress, bring back Denni Greene or Mice Tice, because in MN it is always the coaches fault.
Yet, we know, in the end, it is the pathetic Band Wagon fans that cannot sell tickets to their games without bringing in a circus. Where will the Vikes be playing next? I know my seat in Lambeau is their for my lifetime and my sons though so many else would want to be there. These are real fans, Pack fans, do not forget this... :0)
Hey Adam, nice comment about Wisconsin... You are currently commenting from there correct? Let me see... the last time the Packers won the Super Bowl was Jan 1997. The last time the Vikings won it was.... never. If you want to get on us Packers fans for re-living the 60's fine... it sort of falls under the "at least we Packer fans get to re-live glory from previous decades" where as you Viking fans get to "re-live the repeated EPIC FAIL's of the 1970's" and proudly wave-about the well-earned moniker of "best 15-1 non-Super Bowl team ever!". This is fun, come back after the Vikings loss to the Cowboys and we'll spout and spew at each other some more. One last thing for you Adam, would it be considered an EPIC FAIL if a team had 9 pro-bowlers on it and didn't win the Super Bowl?  BeerKid
2 things. Valiant effort by the Packers. watched the last half of the 2nd half. shitty way to lose and i'd feel shitty as well. Packers came back strong though - wasn't sure what to make of that 30-17 deficit (or whatever it is). And congrats to Woodson for his Def Player o' Year.
one other thing. can Packer fans and anti-Favre fans - think logically now - back off the "Brett lost the NFC Championship game in 2007" talk?
PackerNation screams that Favre is a selfish diva. "There's no "I" in "TEAM", you say. If there's no "I" in "TEAM", why blame just Brett Favre for that loss? Contradiction. More importantly, when Aaron Rodgers fumbled the ball in OT Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals and AZ won isn't that the same circumstance as the aforementioned NFC Champ. game? No?
Same situation...QB makes an error that leads to the other team winning. (technically, the Packer D had a chance to stop the Giants from scoring in OT and didn't....you never had that chance Sunday). By anti-Favre fans' own logic, why shouldn't the loss be pinned solely on Rodgers?
i'm not saying it should. the TEAM lost that game, NOT just Rodgers. same should be said for that 2007 game. and i'm not gloating so don't even fire back with "i hope Brett gets his ass kicked Sunday by Dallas". hey, Vikes could be on the losing end of their game Sunday. this has nothing to do with that game. just trying to see if anyone in PackerNation will admit that what happened with AR is the same thing that happened to BF.
i'll also admit that TT should be given more credit for his forward thinking about AR and his future with the Packers. doesn't change how i feel about the douche and how Packer management contributed to the PR debacle last year.
Hey Jeff, the Compare for Yourself is an encore post originally from December 2004... only the pic is different and we've even done one for duh Bears - Nobody's Done It Better if you have the time to get over yourself and you're scorn for the Packers front office... Brett Favre was the unquestioned starting QB of the Green Bay Packers until he quit for 6 months... in hindsight, every thing BF did that summer falls under a text-book example of "how to get off the team you're under contract to" and go play for their bitter rivals. Delayed by a trade for 1 year, he pulled the same stunt with less fanfare on the NY Jets... gloss over it anyway you want by faint-praising the Packers now... I've hated the Vikings my whole life! No reason to change it now because I no longer live where I grew up.  BeerKid
With The 23rd Pick In The 2010 Draft...
...The Packers Select:
The Packers have prematurely put themselves into the 2010 NFL Draft ordering process along with 3 other teams. The Packers are going to pick 23rd overall, according Greg Rosenthal over at PFT - 4 More Draft Slots Are Set - and that should put the Packers into.... where, exactly?
Yeah, I don't know either.... GM Ted Thompson must be considering an OT for the offensive line as somewhat of a priority this year, and he knows they could use some DB help in the defensive secondary too... and a DL, a RB, a Punter, another DB or two... I'm sure there's a mock draft out there somewhere that will explain it to me.
A big question is what the Packers do with S Nick Collins, he's a priority, but he's destined for being "tagged" and Safety is a cheap (by comparison to other positions) as a franchise tag as a GM can get. So expect Ted Thompson to use it on Nick Collins.
Now, to me this is the biggest question, what to do with DE/OLB Aaron Kampman. The Packers missed his presence down the stretch, and as much as I like the play of rookie OLB's Brad Jones and Clay Matthews, their inexperience limited the Packers defensive playcalling was reduced to just pretty much allowing them to speed rush the corners. Aaron Kampman is needed to anchor one of the End's on pass-rushing plays with Clay Matthews destined for the other side. Remember when the Pack paid KGB a ton of money to be a specialist. Kampman is better at it, and there's a role for him on this team.
Something else to consider, the rules for 2010 if it becomes an uncapped year, get a little more confusing, each team will have one franchise tag and one transition tag or two transition tags to limit the options of unrestricted free agents. Players will need 6 years of service to become unrestricted free agents. The final 8 playoff teams have restrictions placed upon them for signing free agents. Go Pack!
October In 1935 Milwaukee...
1935 Green Bay Packers take on the Chicago Cardinals in Milwaukee.
Here's a cool picture (not sure where it's from, had it saved for a while) from 1935 featuring the Green Bay Packers playing the Chicago Cardinals. Well, it's cool because according to Packers Uniforms this was the first year the Packers broke away from wearing the Blue N Gold and went to the color scheme of green. The experiment lasted two years as the Packers went back to the Curly Lambeau Classic Blue N Gold uniforms.
The other interesting tidbit about this picture, besides the Cardinals in Red and Light Blue, is that although the Packers finished 8-4 that year, the Cardinals beat them in Green Bay 7-6, in Milwaukee 3-0, and in Chicago 9-7. A trifecta beatdown, and although the background in the picture looks like September in Green Bay, with golden shoulders on the uniforms a mid-season change, it's likely to be the October game in Milwaukee rather than the November one in Chicago.
Hey wait... that kind of sucks, losing 3 times to the Cardinals. So why mention it? It has to with lessons learned, knowledge gained, revenge satisfied. In the following 1936 season, the Packers won the NFL Championship with a 10-1-1 record, at the time their 4th over-all, and yeah, they beat the Cardinals twice, tied them (the infamous 0-0 game) on the last game of the year. So I don't know, the chance to rebound after a near-miss successful year, it's something to look forward too... I guess. It's been done many times since the Packers did it in the 1930's. While heading into the off-season, at least we fans have that much going for us.
Fat Lady Sings... Crushing Hopes Of Millions.
There it is, the Green Bay Packers fate has now been officially determined... the over-sized woman with the over-sized lungs has sounded her cheddar flushed funeral dirge loud and clear across Cheesehead Nation. After so much wailing and howling early on in the 1st half, she paused to catch her breath, sucking all us in with her tension induced drama, while hiding behind her bemused smile. One last howl sudden death shriek of angst that sent Banshee's into hiding and left Jack Frost off running for Florida... and leaving the Packers to losing a heart-wrencher, a game they gave away early, struggled back to tie, and then using a late missed FG by Arizona to force overtime... sudden wild weirdness erupts on field and the Packers give up a sack-fluke-int-fumble play that results in a Cardinals defensive TD and their final 51-45 OT playoff win over the Packers.
Fat Lady Sings... Super Bowl Hopes Of Cheeseheads Crushed Beneath Her Song.
Some of the most disappointed are those who were ready to send Thompson and McCarthy out of town with a one-way bus ticket. I say these young Packers are going to be good for a long long time. The defense is not quite there yet, but getting some guys back along with the development of some of the young guys is going to make our defense potent.
Sure it hurts like hell to lose one like this, but it does help build the character and awareness that is needed to be great. I remember the sinking feeling after those losing trips to Dallas in the 90's, the 4th and 26 in Philly, TO at the end in SanFran, and more recently the cold and old Brett Favre tossing the INT to the Giants to keep us out of the Super Bowl. The hurt does not go away easily, but those losing games made the team stronger and more prepared for the future.
We will be back and mad as hell when we get there.
Rodgers played one hell of a game and the kid is not going to be a great quarterback, he is a great quarterback!! We have a set of receivers that are second to none. We need some pickups in the off season. Which means nothing when you have TT looking for those pieces. I continue to hope for a few free agents to fill the wholes we have on D and O line. The draft will be hit or miss as always.
P.S. Those of you that continue to mention Favre or say you have forgotten about Brent only makes you look like you can't get over him. Get over him!! He spanked us and kept us from having that Arizona game at Lambeau. You think the cold this last weekend would have allowed Warner to throw like he did. I think not!! Favre got one over on us, no matter what happens against Dallas.
Hey Beerkid,
Well our "2009-2010 Green Bay PACKER Magical Mystery Tour" has come to an unfortunate and abrupt end in the desert. Not to sound like a Vi-Queen fan but when the NFL sends their "Cream of the Crop" of Officials for the playoffs, we should get just that. But the cream did not rise to the top with those "Clowns" who were doing their best impressions of Randy Moss (a.k.a. Mr. "I play when I wanna play"). Those assholes officiated when they wanted to officiate and blew obvious calls that would have favored the PACKERS and our chances of advancing.
I am sure that the NFL will sweep this one under the rug (along with passing something else under the table in an effort to see a possible 39 & 40 year old match up of NFL QB's for the NFC Championship game perhaps???)
I have sobered up enough now to realize that "Coach McMeathead" failed to manage the clock well at times during the game and Mason "Don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out" Crosby and turn-overs cost us yet another game and yet another opportunity to hoist another Lombardi Trophy.
This PACKER fan can not wait for training camp to begin and I honestly feel that we will improve as a team, take the NFC North next season and with this slight taste of playoff experience only make the PACKERS hungry for more.
This year's PACKERS have nothing to be ashamed of. They certainly met and exceeded my expectations going into the season.
My thanks to the team, the entire PACKER Nation and to you BeerKid for keeping us informed and entertained each and every year!!! GO PACK GO!!
I understand that we played poorly but I could not overlook the piss poor officiating that gave the cardinals a distinctive edge. Like on the final play where a defender grabbed Arron Rogers facemask and no flag was thrown or play before where Rogers got a helmet to helmet shot that should of drawn a flag or the Fitzgerald touchdown where there should of been offensive pass interference even Troy Aikman in the booth said it should of been called, instead there a roughing the passer penalty that was called which was a bad call.
What a ride this year has been. Disappointing about yesterday's game, but pleased with the way the offense kept fighting back. Dom Caper's D didn't fade in this game, they never showed up. Think Kevin Greene is ready to be a Defensive Coordinator? Think TT can draft some replacements for the O line? We still have a great team that will only be better next year. Go Packers!!!!
Thoughts - was it or was it not Mason Crosby that pooched that kickoff PERFECTLY so that we were set up to score a touchdown? Sorry, he's not the goat today. And he's been my goat a lot this year, trust me.
ARodg stunk up the joint at first, but redeemed himself as well. Fitzgerald had naked pictures of the refs, since he could molest CWood however he wanted to and not get called for it.
Guys, we have a really young (for the most part) and very talented (for the most part) team. The future is bright.
And I agree with Ruppert, it just about killed me to say this to my spouse but I did..."I don't care if the damn Cowgirls win the Super Bowl, so long as Judas DOESN'T." Yikes.
There were so many terrible calls...On the drive where Fitzgerald scored, he KNOCKED WOODSON DOWN, which as I understood it is offensive pass interference, and while Jenkins was being held on the same play, they somehow call roughing the passer on him while he's being held...Also the play before the fumble, there was clearly a helmet to helmet on Rodgers...again never called. And of course the last play of the game, IT WAS CLEARLY A FACEMASK, HE HAD HIS HAND ON RODGERS MASK THE ENTIRE TIME, PULLING HIM TO THE GROUND..I feel like it's 1998 all over again and Jerry Rice didn't fumble...oh wait he did. This was such a huge disappointment considering we would've won with no defense.
Billy's On Burnet...
Hey Beer Kid and Beer Scout,
You guys been as great as the Packers! What great wins over the cowgirls n da' bears!!! WOOOOOOOHHOOOO!
Been on travel to Austin, TX the last few weeks... Found this sports bar, Billy's, and filed this "On Assignment Report" for Packer Palace Nation! I think I'm going back for a couple weeks in January. If so, I'll be there for the playoff game!
Hope the following and pics are OK to post!
    On Assignment - "Billy's on Burnet" in Austin, Texas
    While on business travel last week in Austin, Texas, I checked the Packers website to find a place where I could watch the Packers beat the Bears:  http://www.packers.com/fan_zone/where_to_watch_listing/
    First on the list, was "Billy's on Burnet". A sports bar on Burnet street, in the heart of the Texas state capital. After doing a quick web check, I found it had some very positive reviews from Packers Fans. So, hungry and thirsty, I headed down at high noon on Sunday. The outside of Billy's was a sea of Green and Gold. All right - just like home!
    Inside of Billy's was "packed" with Packers Fan, and one Bear Fan. There was every kinda beer you could think of either on tap, in a bottle, or canned. (Yes, BK they do have Chimay!) The food was awesome. I had a "Billy Burger, with chili cheese fries" (I assumed it was WI Cheese). It was great.
    Met three first timers at Billy's. They found Billy's the same way. One was a young man recently out of the service, Chris, from Fond du Lac, WI. He's done tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Thank you for your service Chris! The Austin Packer Fans are just like all other great Packer Fans, knowledgeable, respectful, and loved to Tailgate!
    I even got to meet Billy - The Man. He's owned this fine establishment for the last 5 years. Keep it up Billy - You're doin' an awesome job supporting the Green Bay Packers! See ya soon!!!
Lady K Sends Some Pics...
Hey BeerKid, Here's some pics I took today. What's really sad, is that most of the pics I took of the stadium seating were in the 3rd/4th quarters... people just started leaving.
Near the end of the game, you could clearly hear "Go Pack Go!" chanting throughout the entire dome. Too funny! On to next week. Go Packers!
Packers 2nd Place NFC North 11-5...
Packers win an easy one... a final of 33-7 over the sleepwalking Arizona Cardinals down in Phoenix. Packers secure 2nd place in the NFC North with a 11-5 record, finishing behind the Minnesota Vikings and their 12-4 record. The Packers also secure the 5th seed wildcard spot in the NFC Playoffs, and with be heading right back to Arizona for the Sunday 4:30pm EST matchup.
Congrats to several players:
  • QB Aaron Rodgers for back-to-back 4000 yard passing seasons, being selected for his first Pro Bowl.
  • CB Charles Woodson for getting his 9th Interception of the season, his 3rd runback for a TD, and his selection to the Pro Bowl.
  • RB Ryan Grant for having a quiet 1200 yard, 11 TD rushing performance this season.
  • WR's Donald Driver and Greg Jennings for their 1000 yard receiving season, to go along with Aaron Rodgers and Ryan Grant, the only foursome on any NFL team to go back-to-back seasons with big yardage contributions
  • OLB Clay Matthews for leading the teams in sacks, and showing how a rookie can make a big contribution to a defense.
  • P Jeremy Kapinos for treading the line between being awful and yet, somehow making it the whole year without being cut from the roster.
  • Everyone else on the Packers roster, who made the big plays to help rescue a decrepit 4-4 team and move them to a more comfortable 11-5. I mean everyone, but specifically that's you, Mark Tauscher, Nick Barnett, Nick Collins, Scott Wells, Tramon Williams and Jermichael Finley.
Go Pack Go! Let The Playoff's Begin!
It's time to everybody to admit that the '09 Packers are a very good football team. This team won 11 games and could have won 13 if not for the Pittsburgh miracle and blowing an 11 point Q4 lead against the Creamsicle Bucs. If they keep on doing what they're doing, they can definitely beat the Cards. If they can keep Rodgers off his butt and keep Jarrett Bush from covering good wideouts, they can beat anybody. GO PACKERS!
Like Chica, I too was glad to be rid of Hasselbecks' pic. I really enjoy the site, but after sending the link to a friend and them wondering what in the world I spent my time at (I'm a minister) I am now sadly reluctant to pass along one of my favorite sites. Please keep up the good writing, good news articles, but PG on the satire please. Thanks ! BTW, I have it on good authority that GOD IS A PACKER FAN !
As a displaced Yooper, I can tell you I am still in search of snowmobile boots with a "sole opener". I would buy them for my wife since I can't get my foot high enough to open bottles any more. Gotta love this time of year - no need to lug coolers around - unless you're headed to Arizona.
Spew Off Speak Out...
Hey Beer Kid and Beer Scout!
Happy New Year! While I was diggin' this week's Rockwood Lodge, and its either Beer Kid or the Alien (that's BeerScout) that asks at the end, "Where's the opener?"
I think I found it! It's on the bottom of my new replacement pair of Reef Mick Fanning flip flops!
May you, or anyone here at Packer Palace, never, ever be without an opener...
Go Pack, Go!
Boz
Thanks Boz! We knew a long-time Packer Palace contributor would stand up, remove his flip-flop and say "I have a Vince Lombardi approved opener" when BeerScout requested immediate aid, as all were in dire need of liquid consumption, often in heavy amounts, and no way of continuing our awashed in foamy suds festivities of removing 99 bottles of Blitz beer from the wall. Our thanks to you for stepping up, wriggling your toes and rescuing our Packer Party Train. Hoo-rah!
You know that feeling in the morning, when you wake up just before your alarm goes off? And even though you know it's gonna start buzzing any second, you TRY as hard as you can to slip back into your precious dream world.... all for not.. THIS, is where all Queen fans are mentally as thier "team?" goes into the playoffs. Tick... Tick.. Tick.. the snooze button has been hit too many times on the purple timebomb this year. Time to wake up.
Thank goodness for the new Rockwell, I was cringing every time I came to the site and was greeted by Matt Hasselbeck's **XXcensoredXX**. BK in the future remember that some of us sneak onto this site during working hours - horror of horrors if my supervisor had walked in and seen my monitor!
Anyway, on to bigger (no pun intended) topics... How will McCarthy approach this weekend's game? By kickoff the Cards will know whether they are playing for any higher seed. I can see both sides of the "to rest or not to rest" debate, however I am of the philosophy that you play to WIN. Players can get injured by "taking it easy" out on the field as well - not paying attention, playing out of position, getting blindsighted by hits, etc. To me that's just as dangerous. The head coach sets the tone and philosophy for the team. What message does it send the players if you don't have them play all-out to win? What would Lombardi do?? Aarrghhh.... too difficult of a dilemma for me. Time to go mix a bloody mary and watch some more of the New Year's Day bowl-a-palooza. HAPPY PACKER NEW YEAR to all!!!
Who is the last team to have both present and past qbs in probowl and when did this happen? My guess would be 49ers Young and Montana.. As a Packer fan this makes me proud and shows the right decision was made. Go A-Rodge!!
Baraboo Mike
Hey Baraboo Mike, Favre and Rodgers are on the same NFC squad. Young (49ers) and Montana (Chiefs) were facing each other across the field.  BK
Besides the Packer games... Jared Allen has 6 sacks in 13 games.... very AVERAGE. Looks like that motor DOES quit.
Buck Frett
Hey Buck, Packers radio was going over his sack totals from each game this year.... alot of zero's, but then when you can get 7.5 sacks against the Pack in 2 games... bastard!  BK
WE ARE HERE IN ALVIN, TEXAS, AND WOULD LIKE TO JOIN OTHER PACKER FANS TO WATCH THE GAME ON SUNDAY. WHERE CAN WE GO?
JOYCE FROM WISCONSIN
SORRY JOYCE, TOO BUSY DRINKING ALL WEEK TO GET YOUR COMMENT OUT SOON ENOUGH FOR SOMEONE TO RESPOND TO YOUR PLIGHT ON GAME-DAY. GOOD LUCK FINDING A PLACE TO WATCH AND LISTEN TO THE PACKERS GAME.  BK
