Speak Out Spew Off...

We've been in a dilemma for a few weeks here, If the Packers aren't going to make the playoffs this year, which NFC North team do you root against for the rest of the year.  Some would say the Bears, because of their 8 wins, some the Vikings because they just suck.  We fall into the latter category, we've always hated the Vikqueens more than the Bears, so we started rooting for the Bears last week and will continue to do so even though we will sweep both games from that overrated team this year.  Go Pack!

As much as the fortunes of the Packers control our drinking levels during game days, we continue to drink in heavy moderation, teased until the end, that the Packers can still win out the rest of the games.  Do we want Reggie Bush as the #1 pick in the draft, sure we do, we just can't believe that Packers will lose out to clinch that draft position.  But DiGiTaLB25 provides us with a handy chart to see what teams we're up against.

We do like Steve Mariucci as a head coach, we would welcome him in G.B., and we think that Brett would play another year with him at the helm.  Our current pear-shaped head coach has done what he can with an injury plagued team, and you don't just jump off into a new direction for the hell of it, but sometimes the situation requires it.

We're Still Pack 4 Life!

I for one hope the vikings win the next 5 games 3 reasons:
1. they may keep tice :)
2. they have to have a high draft pick
3. get to hear them funny story how the vikings are a super bowl team in the off-season

ONE PACK ONE LOVE GREEN BAY PACKERS
_________________________

I want to go on record as saying if worse comes to worse and the pacjers have an extremey high draft pick next Spring that Thompson has the good sense to tarde it for a fistfull of second and third rounders. The top of the draft is a minefield, with as many busts (see: Mandarich, Tony) as successes. Do we really want to see 20-odd million salary-cap dollars go to an unproven entry-level employee?

I've slipped into wait-til-next-year mode after Sunday, and it's not such a bad sight. I'd hate to see it spoiled by first-round gamble.

Duane in God's Country

P.S. To HAHAHAHAHA!: The 'Queens are NOT going to the Super Bowl, so just settle down.

I cant beleive we are this pathetic losing to charlie batch and Mike Mcmahon 2 bad QB's the defense is playing really well and i think could be formidable in years 2 come. Favre leads the league in INT's and threw 2 more andre thurman fumbled, Gado fumbled, Lee fumbled, and they are all rookies gado the best one go to www.nfl.com to vote gado rookie of the week we should fire sherman this year and get marriucci im suprised we've won 2 games but NO OTHER TEAM IN THE NFL COULD DO BETTER THAN WE ARE WITH A PRO BOWL RB AND A PRO BOWL WR AND A GOOD BACKUP RB NO ONE

Verrrrry clever skit this week vs. Chicago!! Love that song, too.

Oh, the Carolina @Buffalo game was kinda boring (13-9), and Buffalo is less than exciting to visit for a game...but of course, the Pack play up there next year some time, you know...I intend to go with some co-workers. Anyway, we arrived a little over an hour before kickoff b/c we were hung up in Ontario at border control--lots of Bills fans live north of the border, and we hit the traffic just right (wrong)!

Maybe have to fire Sherman now and grab Mariucci? Haha!

Take care, Mike

Sometimes the only way to feel better about yourself is to take pleasure in the misfortune of others, like so...

Back in September, Michael Irvin criticized Brett Favre's off-season comments about Javon Walker, and now: Friday, Nov 25th - Irvin was charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia after police searched his vehicle and arrested him on an outstanding warrant for speeding. And even if the Lions have a better record right now: Monday, Nov 28th - After two-plus seasons and a 15-28 record with Detroit, Steve Mariucci was fired Monday after he was unable to turn around a franchise with one playoff victory since 1957.

Maybe someone should ask Favre who he would rather have as coach next year, Sherman or Mariucci?

Click For Chunky Cans...

A special request for all of you who visit, the Packers usual insurmountable lead in the Campbell's Chunky Soup 'Click for Cans' Contest is in jeopardy.  We can't let the ballot-stuffing Steeler Fan's out perform us.

Click For Cans  Vote Today!  Vote Often!

Happy Thanksgiving, I need a Big favor and I figured your the person that can get it done. On click a can by Campbell Chunky soup, the Steelers are getting too close. Do you think you can put it out and let the other Packer Fans know to go and click a can daily. We've won every year and I don't know why the Steelers are moving up so fast. Thanks Beer Kid. Have a Happy Thanks giving.

Here's the link: http://www.chunky.com/clickforcansvote.aspx

Hi, I saw your Packer Backer club on msn groups and thought you'd know people who would help with this: http://www.chunky.com/clickforcansvote.aspx

The Packers are undefeated in this. Some “stealers” fans started voting over & over & over each day early in October. It’s supposed to be one vote per person per day but they delete cookies and keep voting & voting & voting. Now they’re really gaining on us.

Help the Packers stay on top again this year. If you can, vote and ask anyone that you think will help to do likewise. Voting is through November 30th.

“This year, two NFL teams will earn donations of Campbell’s® soup to the food banks of their choice. How much soup? For the team with the most clicks, we’ll get the stats for all the players on the team’s official roster and donate the team’s total weight in cans! So far, the Green Bay Packers remain the undefeated Click for Cans champs– will they stay on top, or will they get a run for their money this year? It’s up to you!

Thanks if you can!! Go Pack!!! Jane  (Wauwatosa, WI)
________________________

Dear Beer Kid, Can you post on your site to encourage people to vote for the Packers on this. There are only 7 days left & every day the Steelers get closer. The Packers have won this at least the last 4 years, maybe even more.

This ends on November 30th. So please go in and click for the Packers & pass this on to other Packer fans. Don't let the Steeler fans catch up. They have been closing the gap each day.

http://www.chunky.com/clickforcansvote.aspx

I just wanted to pass along that the Steelers have a little web chat room about this contest and they are been quietly coming up on many teams. If the Packers can't win it on the field this year at least we can win a bunch of food for Paul's Pantry in Green Bay.

If you have a chance go back a vote again and pass this along to all the Packer fans you know. If you read the Steelers chat line... one guy is voting 100 times per day.

If you want to read the Steeler Fan Comments it is pretty funny... they even comment about the Packer Fans...

http://mboard.steelers.com/fanzone/mboard/news/39431

Have a great Thanksgiving! Thanks, Susan

Speak Out Spew Off...

Oh how the Mighty have fallen... It took a few key plays during the game, the Vikqueen DB slowly juggling the interception catch, so he was not down by contact, and then racing to the endzone.  A dropped pass here, a bad play call there, several 3 and out series during which the Vikqueens took over the momentum of the game.  Voila!  We lose by a FG on the last play of the game, again, to the Vikes.

The Packers did make adjustments during the game.  Samkon Gadow, love this guy, but he's just too raw, fumble or not, Sherman did right by putting Tony Fisher in to replace him.  The Offense did go back to the TE's, but it was late in the game when it was too late to catch-up.  I can't blame Brett for throwing to Driver in triple-coverage, Donald was more open than the "other" guys in single coverage.  Swept away by the Vikes with another tough loss, the only thing left to save this season is that we can still beat the Bears twice.

Still Pack 4 Life!
_____________________

Beer Kid, Ok, so the Queens want to quash the run and stack the box against Tony Fisher (decent utility back) and Sam Gado (raw, potential laden prospect) and do so successfully. How does Mike Sherman/Tom Rossley respond? Keep throwing to Driver in double coverage, cuz we know the other receivers cannot get open. Hey, how about using your 3 competent TEs, all of which have Favre's trust and two of whom can run like wide receivers, on 5 - 10 yard slants, hooks and a seam here or there to pull the backers off the line to open up the run game, and as a result, exploit the void left by the safety rolling over to double Driver. How about that, Mike Sherman, "offensive genius"!

Favre looked defeated with several playcalls that came in and untypically blew off his presser. Seems like he may be losing faith in this staff... I mean, Sherman/Rossley have ONLY been outcoached in second halves by Mike Tice twice this season. And anyone who attempts to put blame on the defense has to realize they were abandoned by the offense for the entire second half by piss-poor offense. While sadly it may force Favre to retire (if this season already hasn't, I do not believe I can witness Sherman and Rossley ruin another season. I know we are short on talent, but, again, the tight-ends were the centerpiece of the WCO until Sherman and Rossley got their mitts on it. Failure to use the strongest unit on their offense is impeachable.

Typical Packers last monday night i was at the game and i noticed lots of things Favre had a good game with 2 more pics he leads the NFL Gado and Fisher had a combined 21 yards rushing i dont think you can get any more pitiful than that. we had the lead 7-0 than favre throws and INT for a TD intended for ODell Thurman than we get it back throw it to driver 14-7 at the half then where the packers screw up all year maintaining the FREAKIN lead 3 times we went 3 and out and the vikings had awsome field position the whole time how do you not take adavantage of that then they have an 80 yard Driver thanks to a few penalites (Mark Roman) then they score then we have the game in our hands 3rd and 5 and favre throws perfectly to ODell Thurman and he drops it field goal than Johnson hits wide open Koren Robinson for a 30 yard game WHERE THE FUCK WAS THE DEFENSE then Paul Edinger kicks another game winning field goal same old bad play calls more fumbles INT's even Ferguson was back and sherman didnt take advantage of him its sad WE'LL BEAT THE EAGLES THOUGH.

What a "ball busting performance"... NOT! That had to be the worst second half performance I can recall ever witnessing by our beloved PACKERS in a very long time. Dropped passes compounded by poor play calling sealed our fate. One fumble and Sam Gado is benched? What the F?

Our D basically "left the building" in the second half and Harris looked as though he was taking plays off with his half assed tackling and lethargic attempts to take down a runner. I think Bates ought to study the game film in depth and see what NOT to do next Sunday against the Eagles. It seemed that he failed to make ANY adjustments defensively in the second half.

Between Brett and Tice, I would have to say that this was coach Tice's last Monday Night game at Lambeau Field. Brett will be back and so will the PACK! Green and Gold Forever,

Hi BeerKid! Long time no see, but I have been a rather "stressed" Packer fan, as I am sure all of us have. Nail-biting, Edge-of-seat, scream at TV kinda season, Huh? We lost by so little in some, played too good to lose in others. Aye-Karumbah!

Anyways, in my surfing around the Internet, I came upon this site. http://www.myspace.com/samgado Seems our newest shining star on the Packers has his own little space. Quite nice, you should check it out.

Its under 2 hours to game time. I gave my tickets to tonites' game to a handicapped friend. Ya ya ya... I know, it was tuff, but you see my Wheels are in the shop, and there was no way to go the (over 4 hour) drive to Lambeau. 'Sides that, I have yet to watch a WIN in person at Lambeau, and realizing that, I decided me staying home was for a higher REASON (than the car in shop). We'll see! GO PACKERS GO!!

"We are going to beat you to the ground packshit, let's go."

I am at a total loss for A) what the hell that means and B) how it is a rational insult.

See, if you make fun of a name, follow our lead. For instance: You are the Manyhopeless Victims, or the Minnesota Viqueens, or the Manyhapless Domequeens, Choke Kings, Etc...

These all reference the fact that the team itself has a storied past of calamity and failure. It also conveniently references the fact that the teams fans are a bunch of mouthy bitches, or "queens", as frequently referenced.

So please. If you are going to be a Vikings fan writing in to a Packer website, here are the instructions:

1) Sober up.
2) Gather up all 78 IQ points you have and construct a rational thought.
3) Turn off your computer because nobody wants to hear it anyway.

by the way, I'm living in central New Jersey, an area swarming with Eagles fans. I saw the Giants-Eagles game today, and trust me, Philly looked pretty sorry without their boy McNabb in there. Here's to hoping the Packers finally defeat the Eagles and avenge that 4th and 26!!

"Thanks for Darren Sharper, Thanks for Darren Sharper", "Squawk".  You hear crap like that and its hard not to imagine a flea-ridden purple parrot sitting on low branch of a tree squawking away.  Now if Eli Manning had pump-faked last week during the Giants-Vikings game, Sharper would have been laying on the ground at the 2 yard line and his Guy would be open in the back of the end zone for a TD.  Whatever.  Come Monday night the Packers are going to beat the Vikqueens simply because The Pack won't give up 3 long return TD's and the Vikes have trouble scoring offensive points.  Easy call.  Go Pack!

If The Packers beat Minnesota and Philadelphia in the next 2 weeks they will win the division here is why:  The Bears leading the NFC North have the hardest part of their schedule coming up w/ the Panthers, Bucs, Packers, Vikings, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, and Green Bay again. They haven't played anyone w/ any talent except for the Bengals who wooped their sorry asses the Packers have the easiest part of their schedule comin up. Play It Again, Samkon...

Samkon Gado.  As John Madden is bound to say "There's a football name if I ever heard one".  Samkon improved from last week's game against the Steelers, not just in total yards.  Samkon ran like a veteran against the Falcons.  Yeah, he fumbled twice and we recovered both, but a solid performance during a big game win.  We'll tip our Beer's to Donald Driver, Brett Favre, Nick Barnett, and the Defense as a whole.  Everyone had big performances.  It's a big win to pull us up to 2-7 and with the Vikqueen's coming this Monday Night to Lambeau, a chance to get our 3rd win of the year.

But with all the big plays by the Pack on the field, truth be told, the game didn't swing into their favor until our "new" favorite bartender at The Pint, Janna, she broke out 7 of those green jello shot's right at the key moment late in the 4th quarter that sealed the victory for the Packers. Janna, we thank you for your contribution to our cause.  Skol!

Yeah, yeah... yeah, come on Vikqueens, Bring It On!  Bring your limping Coach (Who won't require surgery. His coaching ability is listed as questionable for the game) to Lambeau.  Here comes another Packer win on Monday Night Football, and who cares that another angry defender of PurplePride.Org has shown up, ahh geez, is someone posting our graphics in the Vikqueen Forums again.  You know how unhappy they get when some of you out there do that... Heh heheh heh eh.

Tice got laid out, screwed up his MCL or something like that. I thought that was the funniest thing watching Tice fall on his face like that. Now he's questionable for Monday's game against the Packers :)

As for the Falcons, It looks like the "Michael Vick Experience" forgot to add something. Turns out they forgot to include the part where you sit on the sideline and watch a 1-7 team destroy you at home. Go Pack Go!!

Speak Out Spew Off...

Dead Bird Roasting.  The Goose is Cooked.  Now am I talking about the Atlanta Falcons or the Green Bay Packers?  My Heart says I'm talking about Falcons chances against the Packers this Sunday.  That even with our weakened running and passing game, that Brett Favre is going to find a way to win.  That our defense with speedy linebackers can limit Michael Vick's effectiveness.  That the Packers can win this game.  I'm not going to tell you what my Head says, no way...

Go Charlie Go!!!  Brett Favre is definitely the best player that the Falcons have ever drafted.  Thanks for sending us the updated design, we'll watch for your sign on the big-screen from our regular "bellied up to the bar" spot.

To "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! You guys can't make fun of Vikes anymore...", and Why Not?  We've made it our life's ambition to make fun of the Vikings, for us, it's completely un-related to what the Packers happen to be doing.  Just check out our Vikqueen Team Page or the recent Vice Boat Escapades and the always enjoyable Flog Me Again archives.  And by the way, Charlie's favorite flash movies that he mentions below, just happen to be the top two requested pages on our website.  Seems that everybody likes to make fun of the Vikqueens!

Go Pack!  Someone smack Vick for me please...

I'll be going to watch the Packers - Falcons game at the Georgia Dome with a bunch of annoying fair-weather Falcon fans. I need a sign to hold up that can silence them all.

I'm thinking:

Who is the greatest player ever drafted by the Falcons?

Michael Vick
Jamal Anderson
Brett Favre

Go Packers!

Then I'll cross out Vick and Anderson and leave Favre.

Guts and Balls...

The difference between "GUTS" and "BALLS"...

GUTS - is arriving home late after a night out with the guys, being assaulted by your wife with a broom, and having the guts to ask: "Are you still cleaning, or are you flying somewhere?"

BALLS - is coming home late after a night out with the guys, smelling of perfume and beer, lipstick on your collar, slapping your wife on the ass and saying to her, "You're next."

No reason for me to elaborate, but Rashard Lee's fumble on the 3rd offensive play, Brett's fumble (after 2 frickin' 5 yd penalties on Klemm and Franks that made 3rd and goal at the 12), Drivers tipped pass resulting in an interception instead of a 1st down, and then Brett forgetting to run for the 1st down on a 4th down late in the game.  There were some nice plays, Robert Thomas caught the interception that was thrown right to him, Kenny Peterson with a 3rd down sack that led to a blocked FG by Cullen Jenkins, Samkon Gado having a decent game at running back, it could have have an awesome debut if he had thrown a stiff-arm to avoid a tackle that would have resulted in a very long run, Antonio Chatman came through with a big catch on 3rd and long.  So there was a few good plays offset by many bad plays.  Same ol' Packers.

There is no way in HELL that I would be in favor of T.O. joining the Packers.  Good thing the Eagles are going to suspend him with pay and not release him until next February.  T.O. may want to play with Brett Favre, but does Brett want to play with him?  As bad as it's been this year, there is still a good chance that both Sherman and Favre will be back next year, it's going to be hard for GM Thompson to justify firing Sherman with so many injuries on the roster, I mean we are missing 6 of the top 10 offensive playmakers on the team.

The Packer's haven't hit on a top 10 draft pick in a long time, it's a great chance to get some top level talent.  Reggie Bush?  I don't know, I've watched him play quite a bit for USC this year, he is amazing, but maybe its QB Matt Leinart that the Pack will go after.  Wouldn't surprise me any, we needed defensive help for years but we keep going after QB's instead.  Hell, I don't know why the Pack doesn't like Craig Nall either, must be his decision making, because he looks like he throws the deep ball even better than Brett does.  Yet the Pack keep trying to get rid of him.

And the day we worry over our Links Page being outdated is the day that you'll see a big fat Advertisement at the top of it.  Not happening anytime soon, but hey, if its some Packer links you want, go here or try here.

I say we pick up TO for the rest of the season and see what happens. I mean, we just tell him: "Hey - what the hell else are you gonna do?" He can get his numbers from a great QB (even he knows that) and then market himself in the offseason.

I mean, what have we really got to lose?

Here's another thought. How about maybe begging Brett to play another year after this one... Then for the rest of the season, we start the Brett and then if the game is even remotely out of hand after the first half... we put in Rodgers or Nall (who nobody likes, though I can't understand why). I mean seriously... Let's try to get into the Reggie Bush Lotto here.

Oh, Dear. Are we really entertaining the notion that the Packers will have a top-five draft pick come April? If that turns out to be the case let's hope Teddy T has the good sense to trade it for a bunch of other picks. The last two top-five picks were Terrell Buckley (shades of Ahmad Carroll?) and Tony (we coulda had Barry Sanders) Mandarich. I sure don't relish the rest of the season having that rationalizing feeling that, "They COULD win this one."

By the way, the definition of rationalize is to tell yourself rational lies.

The time is gone, the song is over, Thought I'd something more to say.

Oh, yeah. PACK4LIFE!

Wutup Packer Palace, I know it may be alittle early to be thinking about next year, but I can't help but be intrigued by a few of the free agents. Edgerin James and Shaun Alexander both could help us in the run game if we cant get Reggie Bush.  And Charles Woodson, he is a great corner who doesn't post a lot of Interception's because he is always all over his man. Harris, Roman, Collins, and Woodson---could be a dangerous secondary.

Heres what I see happening:  KGB to San Diego for Phillip Rivers. Aaron Rodgers to Miami for a 1st round draft pick and with our draft pick we take Bush and Hawk if their available. Still hoping we can turn this season around.

Going to the Packers @ Bears game. My sign will say: "MISSING Cedric Benson"

Just wanted to tell you you have a great site, the animated shorts are very clever, and I'm looking forward to beating Pittsburgh today!!

Also just wanted to mention... some of the links are wildly outdated! I point a lot of people from all over the planet to packerpalace, and they end up asking me what's up with some of these links. Anyway, it's tough to keep everything straight on a website...

Finally a question: What are the best Packers blogsites? The stupid Vikings have a decent one in purplepride.org ... we must have hundreds of good ones, eh? Keep up the great work!

Mike

p.s. Cheesehead U. is also outstanding--thanks for that good link!

Speak Out Spew Off...

"Cell Phone Gets Bad Reception", "Cell Phone Rings Packers Hang Up".  Those headlines sound like a few of the Packer game plans we've seen so far this year.  So first we get Coach Sherman patting himself on the back for the fine coaching job he's doing this year and then we get Total Freak-Out over a cell phone ringing during his news conference.  Waa-Waa I'm not talking to you anymore, Waa-Waa and if no one comes forward then you can't talk to Brett on friday either, Waa-Waa.  Oh, and when my Cell Phone Commercial comes on, please spend your money.  Joey Thomas isn't the only one in Green Bay who needs to grow up a little bit.

Come on Sherman, we need some over all coaching that can produce some wins.  Pittsburgh comes to town without Big Ben at QB, so here's a chance to win a game.  Oh you know there going to run, run, run at us until the play-action fake starts messing with our defensive secondary.  So it's going to be a big test on how well D-Coach Jim Bates has done this year.  So my question comes down to can KGB hold up on the end against a powerful running team?  I think the rest of the defensive line and linebackers are going to do OK stuffing Pittburgh's running game. It's a game we can win if we show up to play with some intensity.

Thanks to Packer Paul and Greg, we have the powerpoint presentation file on that likely alcohol-related incident from last weeks Cincinnati game, just click on the below image of Brett's shuttle pass being intercepted by the Bengal fan in question.  Lady K is upset over Brett tying his fate to Sherman, although we did hear this from Brett several years ago too.

Beerkid, Remember the dude running out onto the field at the end of the Bengal/Packer game? The one that jinxed Favre’s rhythm and prevented him from leading the Pack to another come-from-behind victory?

Check out the play-by-play (that you didn’t see on TV) of that fella’s fortune…

Good morning Beerkid, My Sister-in-Law sent me this e-mail of the drunken fool who ran out on the field late in the game last Sunday and basically gave the "Cincinnati D" an opportunity to rest and deflated our momentum.

I understand the bastard also pleaded innocent at his hearing too. Anyway, I hope you can open this one up. It looks good for the PACK on Sunday, no Ben and no Bus... too bad for them. Let's hope for another game like we had against the "Aints" at home. Have a great weekend.

Aaargghh! &%$!@!@ Now I've heard it all; according to Brett Favre, he may not return next season if Sherman is let go. What? They're a 'package' now? No one ever told us this 'little' tidbit! oy vay!

Favre's future might be tied to Sherman's

I know for Brett it's more of the issue of learning/getting to know a new coach this late in his career-as opposed to some dying loyalty-but, does it have to come down to this? (sigh)

Hey Brett, listen; can't we work something else out? Let's not be hasty now. Do we have to keep Sherman to hold on to you? Don't do this to us! You never know...a new coach may be just what the doctor ordered. Name your price....what else would it take, hmm? Give this some more thought and get back to us, ok buddy? Anything but this! We're beggin' ya!

Speak Out Spew Off...

Here's some specific points about Joey Thomas and why they contributed to his release, from Jason Wilde at the Wisconsin State Journal's website - Second-year cornerback Thomas dumped, summing up some of Joey's shortcomings.
Two weeks ago at Minnesota, Thomas allowed Vikings receiver Marcus Robinson to catch a 12-yard pass and get out of bounds in front of him to set up Paul Edinger's winning 56-yard field goal - even though defensive coordinator Jim Bates had told Thomas before the play to protect the boundary and not let a receiver get out to stop the clock.

Then, at Cincinnati Sunday, Thomas was benched in favor of Hawkins after committing a second-quarter illegal hands to the face penalty on a third-and-5 play from the Cincinnati 47-yard line. The flag gave the Bengals a first down and kept their touchdown drive alive even though quarterback Carson Palmer threw incomplete on the play.

Not only was Thomas flagged, he also fell down on the play and would have been burned for a huge gain had Palmer thrown to a wide-open Kelley Washington rather than Chad Johnson on the other side.

Asked afterward if he deserved to be benched, Thomas angrily replied to the State Journal, "Hell no." Sherman was less than thrilled to read that but insisted Thomas did not have an attitude problem.
So, bad attitude, un-coachable, mistake-prone, no speed.  Sounds like decent enough reasons to cut him to me, it was too late to trade him for a conditional draft pick or anything, but when someone as mistake-prone as Ahmad Carroll is playing much better than you are, how can you expect to be on the 1-6 Packers roster, let alone any other team's roster in the NFL.

All Hail to Elroy and the Diehards, thanks to Das Wolf for sending us "I Love Brett Favre" & "When The Packers Kick Your Ass" by Elroy and the Diehards, great stuff!  I just sent a note to have my Mom run out and find me a copy of my own, you can go here and order it online - PackerSongs.com.  Heh heheh heh eh.

Hey Beerkid, I came across this story today on Packers.com.....Sherman's got the gall to talk about being responsible for your actions!?

He waives a guy just because of a penalty call of illegal use of the hands, and the fact that he didn't own up to it?? Oh, and of course he was thoughtful enough to 'sleep on it' before making a decision.

Sounds like someone else we know should be packing right along side him, if that's the case! Lead by example, Sherman! Take one for the team! It'll do us all a big favor!

How come we haven't had any accountability for all of the awful playcalls this season(and last)? How come we never even got an apology for that horrible game last season against Minnetonka?

from Packers.com's Jeff Fedotin - Packers Part Ways With Once-Promising Cornerback.

"Linebacker Nick Barnett usually chatted up cornerback Joey Thomas before practice, but when Barnett did not need see him on Wednesday afternoon he assumed Thomas had suffered an injury.

Instead Thomas' absence was because the Packers waived the second-year cornerback on Wednesday afternoon.

"It's kind of shock," Barnett said.

The Packers had high hopes for Thomas, a 2004 third-round draft pick. He entered training camp as the starting left cornerback, but injuries to his calf and hip sidelined him for the majority of the summer.

He earned the start against the Cleveland Browns Sept. 18 but made a crucial gaffe during the game. Thomas jumped outside, and Browns rookie wide receiver Braylon Edwards beat him inside on a slant for an 80-yard-touchdown.

Last week he made another egregious error. On a 3rd down-and-five in the second quarter, the Packers had stopped the Cincinnati Bengals to force a punt, but the officials then called Thomas for an illegal use of hands. The Bengals received the first down and went on to score a touchdown on the drive.

Thomas' play had slipped on the field, and he had not assumed proper responsibility for his actions off of it.

"You've got to be accountable and honest with what you're doing and how you're doing it," Head Coach Mike Sherman said.

Sherman said Thomas probably saw the roster move coming.

"I think so," he said.

Sherman thought about waiving Thomas on Tuesday night. He then slept on the decision before talking to Executive Vice President and General Manager Ted Thompson on Wednesday morning."

And he's got the nerve to talk about accountability? Aaargggghhhh!

Hey Beer Kid, I just came back from Eau Claire. I seen this disk at the gas station and had to pick one up. Rocked a few 70 cent taps at the Joynt and thought you might dig 'em. One's super Country and the others rock out. The band is Elroy and the Diehards... dudes are from Chippewa Falls I think. PACK FOR LIFE!!! No matter what I've never seen a 1-6 team play with that much heart or that good over so may losses.

Agreed, the "step-ups" are giving the Pack a fighting chance. Don't forget Chatman and Fisher. I was especially impressed with Fisher blocking TWO rushers at the SAME TIME during the second half. talk about effort! How the hell did he do that!!

All in all, the point differential is still revealing. They lose, but not by much.

Don't jump ship. There are plenty of teams with fair weather fans and out-of-state fans who show up then times are great. I know many Wisconsinites who "grew up liking" the Steelers, Cowpokes, etc (take your pick) because they were the hot teams of their childhood. I even have a young relative who is a Pats fan now (" I dunno, I just like 'em..."). Pretty shallow stuff, if you ask me.

Yeah, I grew up watching the Pack pound the puss out of whoever showed up. Yep I'm that old. But I didn't give up when the twenty year drought ensued. I sat in the stands at Milwaukee County Stadium when you could walk up and buy tickets. And I watched disgustedly as drunks who could hardly stand up spat on and cursed the Pack as they left the field through the dugout. No honor there.

And I also watched Favre and Co. win the Super Bowl with a tear running down my cheek. Keep the faith.
