Speak Out Spew Off...

So heading into this weekend and with the Packers vs. Eagles game coming up on Monday Night ESPN Football, I'm looking for ways that the Packers can win in Philadelphia.  First off, it's a road game, then you notice it's a night road game, hmmmmmmmmm, not good.  It's rare for the Packers to play well on the road in late games, hell, they didn't even show up to start the season at home against Duh Bears.  What makes a betting man think they might take the road win in Michigan against the Lions and parlay that into momentum that can lead them to a win in Pennsylvania against the Eagles.

It will take an alignment of stars to lay the groundwork that's for sure, but more importantly it's going to take some brilliant play by the Packers Offense (you can read that as No Turnovers!!!) and the Packers Defense to play twice their best game so far this season along with a smart coaching move or two (or ten) for the Packers to win this game monday night.  It leaves one looking at all that gray area between probabilities and possibilities... This current Packers team is not really a young team, it just plays like young team, which right now doesn't give us any certain kind of indication on what to expect, so take your pick, expect the worse or expect the best, just expect the Green Bay Packers.

Hi BK (and thanks for the Packer love, back at ya Duane)

What a game...Lions. I had to drive 16 miles from My hometown to a bar that showed it. And I live by the BIG LAKE...remember? (Its all about them Direct TV people) Duluth MN TV, they say they are our Local channels. and show the Queens. So be it...we had a blast at that bar. The bar had a 1910 school bell from a school that is no longer there..and they rang that for every Packer gain. HOW FUN WAS THAT!! huh? I still can't hear.

BK...you gotta make the trip back to WI to watch a game. Nothing could be finer. Not to wreck the old song....but Carolina just is NOT.

I check into Packerchatters....X4 Packers. They all wanna kill and burn amongst themselves and the team. This place is a Packer Fan place. Keep it that way!!! PLEASE

Thank you very much.

Lemondrop

I know how they feel about the Pack on the forums... I went through that phase the whole off-season right up until the opening of training camp when it started to become obvious that the team's weakest area is the Coaches... but it's now stand and cheer for your team or go home... I'm gonna keep standing, I have no choice, I'm Pack 4 Life!

Hey BeerKid..... Just had to send a quik one. Everyone needs to get the hell off Al Harris' ass. Been reading all these articles about him and the deal is this. He's playing decent ball. He covering the top receiver on 3rd downs, because Woodson can't if he lines up on his side. Harris is making much less than Woodson and I don't blame him for being irritated!! You can say he should have never signed that contract.... sure. You probably should say they should have never paid that for Woodson... I will say the Pack fucked this up.... and now they need to fix it somehow. They've paid Harris too little and Woodson too much. You have to know a little about human nature and what will happen if the big money guy doesn't succeed.... cause even if it's a janitor, the guy making several $/hr. less isn't going to bust his ass to out work the other guy. Pack fucked this up, now they need to fix it. I'm getting tired of losing good players because personnel can't get their shit together!!!

Long Live the Pack!!!

I think the same type of thing was happening with our WR position last year... Robert Ferguson was the highest paid WR though 3rd on talent depth list, it cost the team Javon Walker and then the Packers to their credit, gave Donald Driver his contract upgrade to correct the mis-adjustment.  It's now a different era and the Packers management is going to have to jump through hoops to keep its players happy or... well, put it this way, we don't have a Reggie White type player to bring the other high talent players in here to play for us.

Hi, I'm a fan of the site. I think it's great.

Anyways I don't know if you're familiar with the game Tecmo Super Bowl but I made this little clip. It's from the Vikings @ Cardinals game when the McCown to Poole TD pass knocks them out of the playoffs and puts us Packers in. Anyways check it out.

Heh heheh heh eh, I know I catch myself watching our version of the clip That Magic Moment over and over and over again.  Here's the lost animated gif - Hopes Alive! that BeerScout created before we found that perfect "magic moment" music to create the flash movie with.

Monday nite football...... I'm not one for predictions in fact I think they could be more of a jinx but since the leaves are turning and the shadows are growing longer, I see us winning monday night. The image of a youngian Favre is too strong in my mind for loss! I wax nostalgiac, and yet optimistic even confident! Last weeks win hangs heavy like bar-b-que smoke and beer!

Hey BeerKid, I Googled up Shott's bio. 87-87 Browns spec. teams. 1989-2001, K.C. Spec. Teams (89-94), DB coach (95-98), Def. Co. (99-01) (his defense had a good year once where they forced a lot of turnovers and returned for alot of TD's, etc.). 2001 Redskins DC. 2002 Detroit DC. 2004 GB DB coach. Then this year too in GB (because he did such a wonderful job in 04 I guess) and I'm not sure where he was 03. I'm thinking the Redskins wanted upgrading. Looks like from the game Sunday, they still haven't recovered from him being in Detroit and then he's fired here two years ago.... so we bring him back. As you can see, nothing stands out from his bio. Just hope they don't become OK and all the people now that would like to see him gone, stop writing in about it. We can't settle for OK, when we want more!!! And too, I'm not impressed at all with McCarthy's bio either,,,,but he's hand picked by TT, and I am with his!!! Interesting stat I found reading articles..... before the last two games Favre was 6TD's and 23 INT's in the last 11 games. And had more TD's in a game than INT's in nearly a year.

Poor Vikings'......breaks my damn heart!!!!!!!!!

Long Live the Pack!!!

I downloaded the Sissy Wa Wa tune, that fits into the edge of my music experience, remember, I was cranking Kyuss at overly loud levels (frustration can be fun) because I was rebuilding my laptop after losing over a year's worth of personal stuff (I still swear that's backed up someplace - no luck finding the disc's though) and have since moved on and up and around with Queens of the Stone Age, Eagles of Death Metal, The Distillers, The Sword, Priestess with old favorites like Love & Rockets, Iron Maiden, Shriekback, Dead Kennedys and early 70's favorite teen Sammy Hagar singing for Montrose (Rock the Nation, Bad Motor Scooter, Rock Candy), sweet stuff...  Well don't forget Packer favorites - Elroy & the Diehards.

We are no longer the worst team in the league!!!  Woo hoo!!!  I was really starting to reach the boiling point on these pre-game prognosticators from Detroit.  "The Lions are playing one of the worst teams in the NFL this week...", crap like that, all over everywhere.  We get a reprieve on that designation for awhile, as the Packers outlast the Lions 31-24 in a game that sounds close, but take away those 2 fumbles by Ahman Green at the end and Noah Herron before halftime and it might have been closer to a blow-out.  Big road win for the Pack, big division win, and the first of many more to come.

Now the Eagles have started to look much better than their injury-plagued, T.O. ruined season from last year.  All it took was a big-time WR Dante Stallworth to come in and the Eagles went from pathetic to contender.  We can play them tough, we have in Philly before, but it will show if the Packers can at least be pretenders, in the race for the division crown.  Go Pack!

The Packers didn't look all that great with their first win, the Lions may give the Raiders and the Bucc's a run for their money as the worst team in the league, but I like winning, I actually had a fun time watching the game at The Daily Pint, first time this year I left with a big smile on my face.

sorry beerkid but the bears beat the vikings today, the bears might suck but they are 3 and 0 and they are the best team in the nfl.

ps, I am a fantastic speller.

The lone Bear fan in the bar was making some of the loudest, most painful noises I've heard in a long, long time... but an ugly win is still a win.  Oh, I couldn't break over 20 years of traditional Vikqueen hate and found myself rooting for the Bears to win, yeah, yeah, it was an ugly scene.

Blitz Beer Banned...

Report: Fans at Lambeau are less behaved when the Packers lose.

AP - GREEN BAY, Wis. - About 50 percent more people are arrested on average at Lambeau Field when the Green Bay Packers lose than when they win, according to a newspaper analysis.

The Green Bay Press-Gazette analyzed arrests from 94 of the 107 games at Lambeau Field between August 1996 and January 2006, including pre- and post-season play. (Arrest data was not available on 13 games.)

The newspaper found that when the team wins, they are an average of 5.8 people arrested, compared to 9.08 when they lose.

Al Timmerman, retired Green Bay Police operations commander who said the difference is tied directly to the mood of the crowd. "When the Packers lost, the fans drank more and they became more unruly and it goes along with the way the game goes," Timmerman said. "When the team is losing and they're down, everyone is down in the dumps and the beer was flowing a little bit better."

Speak Out Spew Off...

Joe T from Illinois has finally done something that hasn't happened in 20 years (turning my stomach happens everyday without Joe's help)... He's forcing me to root for the Vikqueens over the Bears this week up in Minneapolis.  Yeah I know, earth-shattering.  I've always wanted the Bears to beat the Vikes every year, so let me explain, being from western Wisconsin has left me with a sour taste regarding the Vikes as the Pack's bitter rival.  We didn't have any of that FIB tourist flood that GB/Door County gets every summer, just kids "from the other end of the block" that showed up in purple every once in awhile - mostly during fair weather.  I'm an anomaly, I don't hate the Bears 2nd to my passion for loving the Pack (it's 3rd or 4th).  The Vikes losing are the close 2nd to the Packers winning!!! I want the Vikqueens to lose every day, every Sunday, but Joe T has turned my mood (and my stomach) this week, and I'd rather go against 20 years of precedent and see the Vikes at 3-0 than the Bears, just to shut a Bears Troll up. It's tough being Pack 4 Life!

I should talk about the Packers at least a little bit... we'll see how well Koren Robinson plays when the 3 or 4 WR sets take the field against the Lions.  The Pack don't often win in Detroit, but this week we have a great chance for the new coaching regime to get their first win.  The Lions might suck worse than us.  However, it always comes down to how Brett plays... and he doesn't always play so well on the road, especially inside domes, so the effort of those around him will be more important this week than usual.  I'd love to see the same lopsided run-pass ratio as last week, against the Lions defense, 55 pass attempts would give the Packers 49 points.  Go Pack!

Wow - I haven't checked in for a while man. That Joe is pretty riled up. He's a fantastic speller too. It's such a pleasure to read through his poetic musings.

I wonder if he's still pissed about the time Favre opened up Monday Night Football in Chicago with an 80 yard pass for a TD? That's probably it. I'd be pissed too. I'd get over it though. In fact, I'd already forgotten about the Chicago game in week one. I guess cause once the L or W is on the board, the number stops mattering so much. The score only matters for 60 minutes.

I guess I also don't understand what he's saying about the past and now... Everything is the past. He's reveling in the win two weeks ago. That too, is the past sir. So, that said, we're arguing now over the magnitude and glory of what has happened in days gone by.

This now begs the question... Is there more glory in having an entire sport's championship named after a coach in one organization's history, or opening a season with an admittedly astounding thrashing of a rival opponent. While the latter is remarkable, I'll take the previous.

Let's just all remember. Being a Packer fan isn't about Vikings fans, and Bears fans (and for that matter Lions fans) being fags or goat rapers or whatever. It's about us. It's about the green and gold. It's about living in any city in the nation and running into a fellow Packer fan and knowing that you shared the love for a storied franchise, not the hatred of some other folk who are oddly invisible when their team plays poorly.

This week, I was in a Packer bar where three Saints fans would sing a "way to go Favre" chant every time Brett did something imperfect. I don't know... I'm as competitive as the next guy, but I cheer "for" my team, not "against" the other one. I guess I found it pretty odd though cause that Drew Brees got a pretty big contract to caugh up the ball three times in the first quarter. Brett, however threw for 340 yards and one pick. Beyond that, he's still Brett. I'd rather have him wearing our jersey than any other one. Anybody who hates him and thinks he should retire is just one of those folks who knows he can still walk into their stadium on any given Sunday and do some pretty serious damage. If that's not it, then why bother caring?

Just wanted to give everybody something to think about while we wait to watch the momentum-changing game this weekend.

GO PACK GO.... Simple. Eloquent.

Luke

You forgot about Brett Favre to Robert Brooks for a 99 yard TD catch that happened against the Bears, another reason to be pissed at the Pack.

Although I do not have an audio download to contribute, I would have the commercial as part of a video that came out in 1996 called "Connie Gomper and the Pack"...

It's an entertaining video, but a bit hookey, but if I am able to talk my I.T. nerd at work to somehow record and download the commercial I would be more than happy to send it on to you to share with Pearl and the masses.

I'm sick of it. And tired. I'm sick and tired of hearing how Brett Favre should be traded to a "contender". I'm sick and tired of hearing the chant: "Tampa Bay!", like Tampa is any more of a contender than the Packers. Favre is playing more within himself than he has since 2003. (The two Chicago interceptions were meaningless, and the New Orleans touchdown happened while he was trying to throw the ball away.) This team is only going to get better as the season rolls along. Yes, they are going to lose games, but sometime around Week 7 things will start to click, they'll win more than they lose the last half of the season and maybe, just maybe, Brett sees promise and comes back for just one more year.

My apologies for not blogging earlier. Busy, busy, busy...drunk. To assess this teams performance this early is ridiculous and I encourage those fans from MN and IL to blabber their senseless hopes...that fall from grace makes it that much more pleasurable for me and more painful for them. Living in the midst of the house of cards known as the Vi-queens, I have taken wager that our beloved team will finish with an equal or better record and with some luck we will challenge our shit on thy neighbors to the south. But I digress in speaking of our foes.

I am encouraged that our soon to be 37 year old QB has got some in the tank. Ahman is running as well as to be expected behind a kid OL (Thanks be to Mike) and the WRs are solid. I have to see improvement from the Defense...to this point I expected them to be more ahead of the Offense. Everyone will continue to get better that is what young, inexperienced players of such caliber will do and when they do...we will patrol the frozen NFC North once again. I think I predicted 9-7 at the beginning of the year, I see us at 8-8 right now. Young team, new head coach and system and to say those forbidden words... we are retooling. I maintain faith in TT; after all he does have a track record of doing this before. And with a little Irish luck we might compete for this crappy division.

Drinks are on me fellas!!

Beer Kid is right...so what we endured a bad season last year and this year is the same. We still have the pleasure of calling some of the greatest players and moments in nfl history our own. Brett Favre may not be what he was, but he is still a legend and that is more then what many other teams have at the Qb position right now. Althought we lose, we can take it proudly knowing that although this week, season, or couple of years may be tough. When we get back to the superbowl and we raise the trophy up high we can remember what Holmgren said, that it means more to US then any other team. The packers will always have home field advantage because everywhere else we play its just a game. Be proud to be a packer fan and that no matter what goes wrong with your life that at the end of the day you always have something to hang your hat on when being a packer fan.

no worse than 9-7..... we're close, our defense is looking good, holding teams to little or no gains, and if we can just get the offense to learn their routes a bit better, and don't be so timid, we can do this! Then shove it right back to 'ol Joe in Il.-right in his face! Actually, put him on the back burner. We don't need to deal with him until Dec. Until then, don't give him the time of day, let alone time on our beloved website. (troll!)

Beer Kid,

I couldn't agree more. From 1987-91 I went to school in Minnesota. In 1989, I endured a relentless amount of idiot-speak from the Viqueens 'fans.' From that year on, I relished a Viqueens loss as much as a Packer win. I now live in the Chicago area (near Batavia), and am enduring similar idiot-speak from Bears fans. I guess a dozen or so years of losing to the same team does that to them....Anyway, I too, will be donning a purple stripe on my Packer gear this Sunday. Are the Bears a talented football team? Yes they are. But, that being said (quoth Mike North), they have played 2 F*CKING GAMES, beating two of the least talented teams in the NFL. Yep, pack your bags for Miami.

How about if Grossman makes it through at least HALF of the regular season games before we start talking pro bowl? I think they like it when the players play a WHOLE SEASON to select pro bowlers.Packer fandom is about being part of a great group of fun-loving people. I encourage any and all fans from opposing teams to attend a game at Lambeau. Will you get razzed? Yes; but you will not be direspected or made to feel like your life is in danger (a la Oakland). I attended a Bears preseason game vs. the Browns in 2000. As I stood in line in front of the trough to releive myself, a chant of 'Favre sucks' started in the men's room. What? I guess they are still upset about all of those passing records that Favre holds at Soldier Field.

Go Pack - The Bears Still Suck!

This guy should be roasted on a spicket. Farve, come on this guy is just as good as he has always been, how can you dominate without an offensive line, christ let me throw boulders at you from inside a box. Give the damn Packers a line and some Defensive backs and we would win with pure devastation.

Running back, well when was the last time we did good at that section, maybe when we had our dime a dozen offensive linemen. The fact is Seattle couldn't win when Ted Thompson was there, he left and now look at 'em, Mike Holmgren brought in Hasselback, all the key players, Ted Thompson that good for nothing virus is sucking our team dry just as he did with Seattle. He is the anti-christ belittling our Brett Farve and our former coach Mike Sherman, Sherman had a great record and is was pooped on by this little jocked big headed wierdo we like to call a GM. I'm glad Brett came back and wasn't pushed out for the worthless Aaron Rodgers, if this is the case well we better go after Matt Leinert cause thoughts of J.P. Losman still haunt me.

Lets be real Brett is 5 years younger then Rich Gannon who went to the superbowl at age 41, there is nothing wrong with farve, injuries, cut rate recievers that are route burners, and 8th string runningbacks, hacked offensive line, and a hopeless third round drafted punter, which is Sherman's bad move but hey he took chances, some work some don't. Brett is the same and because he doesn't have the supporting cast people are jumping on him when lets not forget all his comebacks, heartaches, and wins he has given us. The Randy Wright years are right around the corner, so get ready to have a high suicide rate here in ole Wisconsin.

Speak Out Spew Off...

Another sunday, another horror show from the Packers.  Well it's more like b-movie horror, almost a parody of itself as it unfolds.  Great 1st quarter which led to 13-0 lead, but nothing much more from the defense as the Packers lose to the Saints at Lambeau Field, 27-34 for a great 0-2 start.

Anytime anyone is around Santa Monica, we've started to make The Daily Pint (2310 Pico Blvd - 310-450-7631) our home.  They've given us the projection screen TV on the backside and full audio to hear the game.  Come on down and join the handful of us sitting around drinking Chimay's (or the favorite beverage of your choice), woofing down Chili-Cheez dogs and screaming 'bout the Pack.

Speak Out Spew Off...

Just a quick note before heading off to the Bar to watch the game today, the Packers may finally get their first win today.  Oh there's almost no chance that we will get the same kind of game as the last time the Saints came to town.  The Pack is playing a team more to our level of talent (thanks to our GM) so there's a good chance of a competitive game today.  So I'll just throw it out there that the Pack will get a 4th quarter comeback touchdown from Brett and will edge the Saints 23-19.

Speak Out Spew Off...

GM Ted Thompson has gone out and placed his tarnished repuation just a little more on the line by signing troubled WR Koren Robinson.  K-Rob is a big fast reciever who should be able to help the Packers (if he can stay sober and out of trouble with the law) at an undermanned WR position.  Now we know why Ted cut down to 4 WR's, he was waiting until after the 1st game to sign K-Rob.  This will lessen any liabilities that the Packers will have towards his salary this year, and I'm sure that there is all kinds of contract language protecting the Pack in case Koren Robinson goes off the deepend again.

I like this move, I really do.

BeerKid - Still Pack 4 Life!

Damn Ted Thompson!

The guy who said it felt like watching the game with his old man swearing at the TV called it right. I can just hear Grandpa rolling over in his grave. Not only are we bad but Brett is going to take the blame. Did anyone not see the INT's coming at the end of the game? The guy wants to win. If he really were to leave at some point to go to another team God bless him. I mean this is unwatchable. TT didn't have enough respect for Farve to improve that line? I think that 42 million that he gave Woodson would have bought a whole lot of beef up front. To make matters worse I read today we signed Robinson....? That took us from bad to pathetic. Are we the Raiders now? Wait we are worse than the Raiders we are taking there castoffs too. At least Sherman took the team down trying to build it around his franchise player. TT's plan to rebuild consists of brining in a back up Seattle safety and Charles Woodson? He better turn it around real quick or no one will want to play in GB except for the guy's looking for just the money. I have one question...where did we improve from week 17 last year to week 1 this year?

Build a team around a franchise player?  What a unique concept!  I'm sre GM Ted Thompson will get right to work on that, right after he fills the holes at Guard and Center.
_____________________________

If this is true, they really are ruining this team... reports say that Green Bay will sign Koren Robinson today. He's the 'Queen who got a DWI whilest fleeing police at over 100 MPH in MN last month. He's a career dirtball from way back, to include statuatory rape and much substance abuse, according to Seattle sources. Chances are also good that the league will be suspending him anyway.

Isn't this the type of loser that Green Bay would typically be throwing out of town, not welcoming with open arms? Can we bring Chmura back?

The Stud of the Bluffs

The team is already ruined after 2 years, you know, rebuilding, and our WR positions needed upgrading.
_____________________________

Hey BeerKid....... I thought the game looked pretty much as expected, playing a decent team w/a bunch of rookies starting their first game and a new coaching staff w/a rookie head coach. We'll know alot more in a few games. TT seems to be looking for the next Venetari vs. settling for a Cundiff. I've been watching Packer teams the last ten years that have been losing the home field advantage, needing runs to make the playoffs and punching out early when they get there. The one year they got close, I don't know that they had enough to win the SB, and they still had a game to go just to get there. Looked like they were a step behind in coaching and the AFC champ has been beating the NFC team for a while now. TT is a football guy, I don't think he's looking for a team to make the playoffs regularly.....I think he's looking to build a team to win the SB......no one remembers who the fuck came in second!!!! No one says so and so has won a total of 5 SB's now, but such and such nade it to the SB this many times and lost...... Whooops, maybe they do. The Vikings and Bills, and that's not how you want to be remembered!!!!!!!!

Long Live the Pack!!!

The 2 words for the Packers at place-kicker are: "Paul Edinger".  You're right, no one remembers who came in 2nd, let alone who comes in 32nd, except those team's fans.

Now that Brett didn't retire against all the NFL Reporters wishes, and now that the Packers appear to suck really bad, they've done a complete 180 and now want Brett to retire on winning team, or at least a team that has some chance at hope, errrh, the Playoffs.

Beerkid, ...where do I start?!

I'm just sick to my stomach! I didn't have the opportunity to see this one, but hearing the score/analysis later on the radio when driving home.....I almost wrecked my car! Not even one field goal!!! Ughhh!!!

As you know, the guy next door to my office is a Bear's fan, this isn't gonna be good. Gotta hear his crap 'til who knows when!

Is this what we have to resign to this season? And everyone needs to quit blaming Brett for the teams' shortcomings. One person can't do it all, people! All of those guys are earning a paycheck.....they need to play like it! And 'ol Teddy needs to pull his head outta the sand! (who made him GM?)

Let's hope that McCarthy & Co. can work some coaching magic. Light a fire under these guys, and start winning some games!
*&%$#@!

I predict us to finish 9-7......
I know, I know.......I'm raising my hopes.

Lady K, Packer Club of Hemet, So. Cal.

Our coach is supposed to be this tough Pittsburgh type guy - I haven't seen any of that this pre-season and definitely didn't see any of that on the sideline last Sunday against the Bears.  This team needs some inspiration from it's coaching staff... and the team won't win until they do.

Not counting that failed experiment at fullback earlier this year in training camp, but Samkon had some trouble making blocks and making cuts in the new offensive scheme, and although he's a little bigger and a little faster than Ahman Green, he was still too raw to be a 2nd running back.  In his defense I will add this, he improved his play in each game he played last year.  I think this means the Pack like Noah Herron as backup.

F.Y.Finger Award Goes To...

Due to the miscalculation of gazing at the Green Bay Packer Organization and seeing a NFC Division Crown awaiting the Packers... We're forced to give this week's Fuck You Finger Award to ourselves.  For not seeing that GM Ted Thompson would again not address the interior of the Offensive Line, for drafting QB Aaron Rodgers 2 years ago when any other player might have been able to help a team "reload" and gain the playoffs again.  By "rebuilding" the Packers in dribs and drabs instead of blowing everyone out the door upon your arrival.  If you're going to "Rebuild" then rebuild, don't hide it, that's created a lot of false expectations for us Packer Fans.

We also have to give ourselves this FYFinger Award for thinking that Coach Mike McCarthy would be able to coach his way out of wet paper bag.  How many of you out there cringed in anticipated horror during that 1st offensive series for the Packers, already trailing 7-0, after 2 Ahman Green runs put us at 3rd and 1, that the Packers would call a run again, instead of play-faking, and with the whole football world, including the Bears defense, knowing exactly that the Pack would run.  No gain, no first down, big surprise.  How about the QB sneak later in the game on 4th down, when's the last time Brett Favre has done of one those, never, not even with a good offensive line, and we have a poor one this year, again no first down.

So, here we stand staring into the mirror while simultaneously whipping us the bird, for our high expectations in believing that this Packer team had somewhere else to go beside the cellar of the NFC North.  Now it's time to go and read the mail and see how many of you agree.

How gawd-awful was that!!! The Bears were definitely "Bad News".  Packers lose big to their hated rivals, the Bears, 0-26 on opening day at Lambeau Field.  What a spanking.  You have to go back to 1970 and the 40-0 drubbing the Packers took from the Lions to match this pathetic effort.  This game looked like those 2 road game preseason losses... still, "The Bears Still Suck!!!"

Ted Thompson Should Go

Dear Palace,

I have listened to all the discussion here in Milwaukee since the game ended. I think there are many people still blaming Brett for this mess. Let's call it the way it is!! The Pack is a much worse team after two years with TT. This team did not need to sink to this level. People want to leave this on the door step of Mike Sherman and Brett. Well, they were a much better team with Sherman. I am not saying he was a coaching mensa, but Mcarthy and TT have produced a team that is even worse than when I was a kid watching the game with my dad swearing at the TV after another loss. This team is bad on almost every level and when you make that statement you can only blame it on management. So I will be the first one to call for the head of TT!! Sorry in a real life business this guy would be out!!!

Hey Beerkid, I've never sent anything in before, but I think that we have to be realistic. The Packers will be lucky to match last years record. I've been a Packer fan since the '60s and have seen them be real good and real bad. I happen to live in Chicago and I keep hearing how great the Bares are going to be this year. Did you notice how everyone on the Bares had a great game? Even guys who never really play well. Clark and Grossman. They pushed the Packers around. What happened to that great defense? Manuel AND Woodson AND Hawk AND Poppinga were supposed to add to the Packers defense. I really didn't hear a lot of good things with their names attached to them. This defense is not an upgrade of last years defense. Most quarterbacks can do what they want against the Packers. Just look at what happened in the preseason. We have continually allowed most teams to push us around. This defense has to learn to kick some ass because mediocre offenses are making them look really bad. As bad as the offense is we need to let them get on the field more. I believe the Bares only punted once, and the Packers punted ____ oh never mind.

Is the defense already missing former D-Coach Jim Bates hi-energy inspiration?  Looks that way doesn't it...

Average Joe cited in Drive-By Pleads Innocence

DEARBORN, Mich. -- Detroit Lions assistant coach Joe Cullen shed his embarrassment with close friends today to offer an explanation for his recent citation on suspecion of indecent and obscene conduct on Aug. 24th.

"The whole incident was blown out of proportion.", Cullen was reported to have said. We have it on good authority that while Cullen was on his way to the emergency room to seek treatment for a case of priapism, he was overcome with hunger. "Any of you that has had to suffer through the long waits common in a non life-threatening ER visit can sympathize with my situation. It was bad enough I had to seek medical attention for a potentially diabilitating condition, but to have the prospect of developing a stomach ucler on top of that, well, that was too much to bare... I had to choose, suffer a non-treatable ED condition for life, or risk the chance of a DUI or worse." Cullen said, "Plying the fire of Amore with champagne is not a crime."

Once the facts become known, his legal counsel gave him all indications it should not move to trial. His employer was not so forgiving, having suspended him for one week. They understood his situation completely, but said the public demanded blood letting. PR over ER. His job security all but guarranteed, he would have to take this one between the legs for the good of the franchise.

Although unconfirmed, it has be rumored that Matt Millen was seen doing a Chad Johnon-like River Dance in the club's offices just prior to the press briefing. Anything that, however swift, focused the fan's wrath away from his direction was reason enough for a display of uncontrolled mirth and glee.

Speak Out Spew Off...

So the opening week of the Green Bay Packers 2006 football is about to begin, and luckily for all of us, it's also Packers-Bears week.  Which is going to make for a great opening day game.  We're stoked here at Packer Palace.  BeerScout, during his 30 day trip to Wisconsin, actually found a ticket to attend the game.  So Packer Palace should have some great pre-game, game, and post-game party pics.  Even with the Beer flowing...

But in a week filled with over-hype for the coming NFL Football Season, I find myself just kind of sitting back and waiting expectantly.  The Packers are a young team, they're going to make mistakes, and some of those mistakes are going to lose games.  It's the nature of the football beast, though, and we'll still stick to our season prediction that the Packers are going to beat the Bears on opening day, they're going to win a few and lose a few during the year, and then with a big win on closing day down in Chicago, that should leave the Packers sitting on top of the NFC North at 9-7 with the Divisional Crown.  Go Pack!

I'm sick of it. And tired. I'm sick and tired of hearing how Brett Favre should have retired because of last season. Like 2004, when he had 30 TDs to only 17 INTs, and a passer rating of 92.4. Or 2003, when his TD-to-INT ratio was almost as good and the Packers were a 4th-and-one play away from the NFC Championship game. (A play, by the way, that would've precluded the infamous 4th-and-29 later.) At least we Pack4Life fans know better that to believe last year is a harbinger of everything to come. The Bears can feign respect for the ol' gunslinger, but I believe they have bought into the "stick-a-fork-in-him" hype, and will be thoroughly embarrassed by the "I've-got-a-point-to-prove" Favre.

The bears have confidence on their side after sweeping the Pack last year, that and (arguably) one of the best defenses in the league. Also our team is loaded with rookies who will need some seasoning. I hope I'm wrong...

It's hard to argue that duh Bears have the "best" anything... that's why they will lose to the Packers this sunday.

Loved the classic cartoons, but I didn't think the NFL/AFL Championship was called the "Super Bowl" until the second year. was the first year cartoonist clairevoyant?

Keg Man

It seems that first year all the Sport Reporters and fans were calling it "Super Sunday" and "Super Bowl Game" so the NFL was quick to adapt and formalize their championship game as the "Super Bowl" by the second year.

The PACKERS are like my kids, whether their good or bad you gotta' love em'! So in the spirit of good parenting and sportsmanship I say fuck the shitcago bears and every other team in the north but us!

BIG ERN said so!!

Hey Big Ern, I like your description of Good Sportsmanship... similar to my Uncle Robert's.

I'll be making the short drive up from Neenah for my first Packers vs. Bears game, so I just wanted to chime in with my prediction of a snapped Rex Grossman leg and a Packer rout. 27-7 will be the final and Monday will be a long, hungover day for me and my friends!

Go Pack Go!!

I see that you also subscribe to the Big Ern's style of Good Sportsmanship.  Yeah!  Have a drink for me.

I agree. I am sick of people (the non-Packer nation) who are essentially criticizing Brett for coming back in 2006. I am sure that Brett is sick of hearing it, and is ready to get the job done with a big F*CK YOU to all. There are some parallels to the 1992 team, as he said in a recent interview. In 1992, the Pack was 9-7, due in large part to coaching, since the team 'didn't know how good we were.' You have a couple of players who have been there, that can help to lead the younger guys. Just like the Bears....er, no wait, they have NO players who have EVER WON A PLAYOFF GAME! What the hell are we afraid of? A one hit wonder? It's like Dexy's Midnight Runners! "Come on Eileen, get me into the end zone" (quoth Rex Grossman). Having Brett setting the tone staying with this team will go beyond when he is finished.

why can't ESPN stop crying about Favre coming back to Green Bay? Were on ESPN 2 times this year. If they think he's to have a bad year why have them on monday night
in a sport world were every one say no ones loyal, Brett Favre being loyal to US! for all the time we support HIM he now supporting us what maybe bad season or not
remember these words

WE GOT FAVRE SO FU!

ESPN and many others haven't forgiven Wisconsin for unleashing Cheezhead Mania across the rest of the nation during Brett's 15 year reign of terror.  So now they repetitively beat us down 'cuz they can.

Sure the Packers do... It just might not even be up to some kind of average NFL standards.

A Piece Of Packers History...

Green Bay's City Stadium

Milwaukee's County Stadium

Here was something that was actually kind of cool, one of few unsolicited emails that's been worth checking out.  It's an offer from Ball Park Pens for a ballpoint pen made from the wooden seats of Green Bay's City Stadium...

For all the Packer fans who want to write with a piece of Packer history, we offer pens made from wooden seats removed from City Stadium.  Mary Ann - Ball Park Pens

...and they offer balllpoint pens from the wooden seats that were at Milwaukee's County Stadium too!

They offer many pens from some of the major Baseball Parks for those of you who have obligations and loyalties to that sport.  Go check them out.
