Blast From The Past...

Speak Out Spew Off...

The Packers were able to bring a little of the Frozen Tundra to Seattle last Monday night, but when the snow quit falling, it was sync'd to the fortunes of the Packers.  34-24 was the final tally for the Seahawks win over the Packers.

I didn't like the give-up play when the Packers went from 3rd and goal at the 6 yard line to 3rd and goal at the 11 yard line because of false start, it was going to be tough to get the TD.  So what does the coaching staff come up with, a run up the middle between the tackles, 1 yard, it was a give up play and it was no surprise that the FG attempt was blocked, the Gods of Football were punishing us.

I hate the rule that made that great pressure on Matt Hasselbeck by Cullen Jenkins become a personal foul penalty.  It wasn't late, he didn't hit Matt's head, and Hasselbeck was already diving for the ground after throwing the ball away to avoid the sack.  But the rule basically says "error on the side of throwing the flag", and that's exactly how the Referee arrived at his decision.  It sucked for the Packers.

You know BeerKid.......... I've been trying for a few weeks now to figure out what the Pack needs and where they need it. Is it coaching or players? We've been hearing about miscommunication and poor fundimentals for quite a while now. Can the players handle it? I watch the other teams in how they seem to have an extra gear they can shift to when they need it, don't really see that with the Pack. I'm sure the players really need this year to gain some experience and muscle for a much better year, next year. I don't think they have the studs up front on the lines..... defensively or technically efficient offensively. Looking at coaching, Shotty hasn't done well anywhere, I don't have much to say one way or anohter about MM. Where were the draws, screens, misdirection, etc. again last week? The Hawks were in the SB last year, so you know they're sound and you had better put in a couple plays for some extra points or momentum. Hate to bring up Bilichek again, but everyone whines about losing Javon Walker and what a difference that has made. Well, Bilichek has lost both his starting receivers from last year, his whole DBfield is injured again, sub par offensive line to work with again, etc. and all he does is win alot...... so should MM or any other coaches be able to use those excuses, because we've seen it can be done.

Long Live the Pack!!!

We've now seen the Genius of Mike Holmgrem come through Green Bay, the bland solidness of Mike Sherman, but compare Mike McCarthy's game-planning to either of those 2 former coaches, it's not a favorable comparison.

Well enough shown... Favre is done. A 4 turnover lead, should be a win. He's not Brady, Manning... but he had his day. W/o Reggie... zip. 10 years now. So he can play every game... can't win many. Call'em as I see'em.

Long Live the Pack!!!

HEY BEERKID, UN-FLIPPING BELIEVABLE!

WHO SAID “IT’S NOT WHO YOU PLAY, BUT WHEN YOU PLAY THEM?”

I PERSONALLY PLACED AN “L” ON THE SCHEDULE FOR NOVEMBER 27TH WHEN THE NFL SCHEDULE CAME OUT FOR THE PACK AGAINST SEATTLE (IN SEATTLE), BUT WE HAD OUR OPPORTUNITIES, BUT WE COULD NOT CAPITALIZIE ON MOST OF THE TURNOVERS IN THE FIRST HALF.

NOW, I DON’T WANT TO SOUND LIKE SOME FUCKING VI-QUEEN FAN ABOUT THE OFFICIATING, BUT THE STRAW THAT BROKE MY “FUCKING MNF LET DOWN BACK” WAS THE CALL FOR ROUGHING THE PASSER AGAINST CULLEN JENKINS. IT WAS BAD ENOUGH SEEING A SMUG MIKE HOLMGREN ON THE SIDE LINES IN THE CLOSING MINUTES OF LAST NIGHTS GAME; BUT WHAT I DID NOT SEE INFERIATED ME.

ANSWER ME THIS, WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH COACH McCARTHY AND HIS LACK OF GETTING IN THE FACES OF THOSE FUCKING REFS LAST NIGHT AFTER ONE AND ANOTHER FLAG WAS THROWN AGAINST US?

McCARTHY NEEDS TO GET PISSED OFF AND MAKE SURE THOSE OVERPAID MO-FO’s KNOW IT. HE NEEDS TO BACK HIS TEAM AND ITS PLAYERS.

JENKINS DESERVES AN APOLOGY (NAY, THE ENTIRE TEAM) FROM COACH “I’M A FUCKING TED THOMPSON PUPPET” McCARTHY, FOR HIS EMBARRASSING LACK OF LEADERSHIP. COACH McCARTHY: “I HAVE NO COMMENT” ABOUT THE JENKINS CALL? WHAT THE FUCK!?!

I’M SORRY ABOUT THIS RANT, BUT THE PACKERS PLAYERS AND THEIR DEVOTED FANS DESERVE BETTER AND IT IS TIME TO “RAY RHODES” HIS ASS OUT OF GREEN BAY (ALONG WITH TED “DUMB AND DUMBER” THOMPSON).

GO PACK!

Ghost Of Halloween Past...

Just something we wanted to mention about good friend and Bigfoot Folk Song Artist Tom Yamarone and his visit to the John Madden Estate for last Halloweens Trick or Treat.  Apparently, it's a favorite spot for all the little ghosts and goblins every Halloween night as Mrs. Madden ladens down everyone down with lots of goodies.

We'll let Tom explain it:

Mrs. Madden fixes up the front gate and walkway with all kinds of Halloween themed decorations...a mannequin dressed like a gardener and signs out front saying "the witch is IN" "park in driveway"...it's a classic stop before hitting the streets for the real trick-or-treating. The big deal is that HE'S never there... away during football season... and she puts on the ultimate Halloween stop for candy craving kids...and the urban myth lives on about the 5 whole candy bars she'll give you....this year she topped that with a bag including 5 whole candy bars and about 20 bite size candy bars. The photo is of the butterfinger bar that we got at the Maddens... with BeerScout holding it.

The Big Score!!! BeerScout's got the goods, a Butterfinger from Mrs. Madden!

Just when Packers fandom was starting to reach the upper levels of Stage Two, we've just been whacked all the way back down to the very bottom of all bottoms, Stage Three.  I'm a Packer Clown again... So when the pain cuts across you as harshly as that 35-0 blow-out the Patriots put upon the Packers, there's nothing left to do but take a sip of beer and laugh and laugh.  Brett Favre whacks his funny-bone in his right arm, just keep drinking and laugh.  Aaron Rodgers breaks a bone in his ankle, tapes it up, plays some more, badly, just take another sip and laugh and laugh.  Packers couldn't score a TD, couldn't kick a FG, couldn't coach their way to a first down or any kind of control the ball, kill the clock, rest your defense level of professional play, just keep on drinking your beer and laughing and laughing.  Even with the tears streaming down your face here's nothing left to do but to laugh at the play of the Packers.

Now here's the real question - Did New England Head Coach Belichick just psyche the hell out of the Packers coaching staff by making them go through all kinds of pre-game gyrations on play-planning and the Patriots come out and play straight up vanilla defense and the Pack is running all these goofy wasteful plays?  Like the first play of the game, when the hell have you ever seen Favre run that play-fake, like never.

But it just peeves me to death that you have guy like Brett and they refuse too give him any help just continue too hinder him first guardgate,then TT Boy starts the season with 4 wr's on the roster.I thought when you have a Hall of fame superstar you build around them..Oh well im beatin a dead horse. thanx as always for listening to me rant.....

Achilwil

I'm just the same way... don't get me started on how the Packers have kept a competitive team around #4 by... not doing much.  I did finally notice that we traded DB Mike McKenzie for eventual 2nd round draft pick DB Nick Collins, ummm, that's not a positive in my book.

Whooooops BeerKid.... Rodgers out for the year, I see on TV tonight. So much for my thoughts of getting him some experience. You know, all I kept thinking during the game was: Resistance is futile..... Reminded me of Star Trek w/the Borg episodes. The Pack was completely over run and assimulated!!! Don't think there were more than a couple wooooooo whooooos in the whole three hours.

Last comment... Favre's quote: "I don't want to get in this game and try to outplay Tom or show him up or anything like that. I just want to help this team win."

Lucky for us and Tom!!! I'm sure after winning three SB's, Tom was probably worring about that!!!!

Long Live the Pack!!!

Oh boy, their interviewing former Packer QB JT O'Sullivan himself to come in as our #2 now that Aaron Rodgers is out for the rest of the year and 3rd string rookie Ingle Martin won't be promoted up, yet.  There's an argument to be made for Ingle that he might be better than JT.

___________________________

Wow BeerKid.......a couple weeks ago, I thought the Pats by 50. Since then I thought it'd be a closer game, it was. The Pack got schooled, hope they took some notes!!! I think the time has begun to schedule Rodgers the 1st series in the 2nd quarter for the rest of the season, and give him some meaningful time. Can't keep throwing him to the wolves and expect to build up his confidense and play. It's fair to assume we've still got a ways to go. Gamewise, I could tell we couldn't over power them, kept waiting for some reverses, draws and screens to get the offense a little momentum...still waiting. Favre almost threw another pick on the slant. The Pats backup DBs look better than our starters. Guess we need to find some more 1-2 win teams to play......

Long Live the Pack!!!

So in a way the Packers exceeded your expectations by only losing by 35 points.  The notes from that blow-out game would be good for one of those "How Not To Execute A Game-Plan" coaching books.  Mike McCarthy might need to make some side cash if he can't bring his coaching and game-planning up to NFL levels.

Seeking Divine Intervention...

Packers Verses...

The Packers walked into the Metrodome
Not showing a sign of trepidation
Doing their best to put on a brave face
For the anxious Packer nation

Then something happened in that place
That not even the most confident fan expected
The Packers took control of the game
And earned the right to be respected

A decade ago this week's opponent
Faced the Packers in the Super Bowl
And though Green Bay's not won another
The Patriots have gone on quite a roll

Once Tom Brady took control of the Pats
They became a team with which to contend
He throws the ball with such coolness and accuracy
That they are nearly impossible to defend

Against the run New England is first rate
While their own running game is thriving
Green Bay will have to play a nearly perfect game
If they're to have any hope of surviving

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Minnesota Vikings have seen so inept
That no matter how they play Miami's going to win
While the Pats will bring a tough game into Lambeau
where the Packers might manage to pull one out again.
Green Bay beat the Minnesota Vikings  23-17.
Speak Out Spew Off...
It's always hard to say (with a straight face) that God helped your team beat another team.  No matter how deep your faith, I don't believe things work that way.  However, when you use the Pope to mock the Vikqueenies, like we did here, Someone up above must have taken notice and agreed with our green and gold prayer... so nyaah, nyaah, God is on our side, God has always been a Green Bay Packer!  We won!  You lost!
Correction on the what looked to be a mistake in coverage by Al Harris, turns out that AJ Hawk blew his coverage on the Vikings TE.  As planned by the defensive coaching staff, Al Harris was rolling over to help with that zone coverage.  Oh, Al wouldn't have been able to stop a catch if the QB has chosen to throw the ball to this TE, but the mistake was by Nick Collins, who had the deep coverage on Al Harris' guy, what appears to have happened is that Nick reacted to quickly to AJ's early mistake on the play, and hurried to cover up, but he forgot his original assignment, stay deep on Al's guy, because Al is supposed to help out AJ Hawk.  Al still had a penalty called on him, opposite field holding penalty, declined because of the 1st down that the Vikings had gotten on the reception.  DB's who go to the Pro Bowl do not average a penalty a game.
Maybe one of these days will have a "captain" back there on defense at safety, similar to how Eugene Robinson and Leroy Butler ran things... because Marquand Manual and Nick Collins aren't showing this type of leadership that the defensive secondary needs so badly.  It shows every week.
Are the Packers starting to look like they have the most promising young linebackers in the game?  Nick Barnett, AJ Hawk and Brady Poppinga all were able to get pressure on the Vikqueenie QB Brad Johnson.  The Packers have a new look Dime-Package, 3 - 3 - 5.  That's 3 DL's, 3 LB's, and 5 DB's, allowing Poppinga to line up as a DE.  All 3 get to stay on the field and play on passing downs.
Grabbing The Brass Ring (of 2nd Place)
So when the Brass Ring (of 2nd place NFC North) swung by today the Packers jumped up and grabbed hold by going into the Humpty Dome and pulling out a 23-17 win and dragging the Vikqueenie's down to a 4-5 tie with us, but by virtue of head-to-head tie-breaker gives us 2nd place in the NFC North division.
Funniest "The Coach Outsmarted Me" moment: Watching the clock run down at the end of the 1st half and complaining over-loudly about the tick-down from 2:30 to 2:00 and the 2-minute warning happening, wondering why the Packers didn't call a time-out.  Turns out Head Coach Mike McCarthy had the old 82 yard pass from Brett Favre to Donald Driver up his sleeve making any time management skills un-necessary.  Could be that we were "lulled" into not anticipating the Packer Storm that is starting to surge forward again towards the shores of the NFL Playoffs.  I'm ready to be thrown upon the beach.
One last thing, the Packers missed a chance to toss the red flag and review the spot on one of Ahman Greens 1st quarter runs, he clearly made it inside the 1 yard line, which should have resulted in a 1st and goal situation... but a bad spot by the Referee and the Packers chose to kick the 1st FG of the game for 3-0 lead.
Winning does make you thirsty for more...
Beerkid: Win or no win, Bubba Franks is still the worst Tightend in the league...
The play of the day was Favre throwing the ball out of bounds on 3rd and 2 to allow Rayner to ice the game with the last fieldgoal.
I don't think Bubba is the worst starting TE in the league, he's probably less than enthused about staying in to help block on almost every passing play, he did end up with 2 catches for 22 yards.  You don't see Brett throw too many balls away, but sometimes you just have to.
Hey BeerKid......... The first Vikings touchdown....... that look like a replay of last week?????? We need to get Shottenhiemmer the fuck out of there or DB's that know what the fuck they are doing??? The interesting thing is that no one seems to say one way or another from the Packers whether Shottenheimer sucks the the DBs aren't smart enough. 9-10 weeks into the season, they keep making the same ole fuck-ups and blaming communication. 9-10 weeks into the season, they should know what the fuck they are doing..... they're are starting to get that loser mentality, lose after lose followed by excuse after excuse!!! Momentem is gone now.... guess I'll just take in the rest of the game!!! They need a new coach or new DBs!!! It's early, they still can win.
Long Live the Pack!!!
I saw Al Harris make that same stop and cover an empty zone while your WR runs down the field to catch a horribly under-thrown ball for a Vikqueenie TD.  You get so used to Al always just running with the man he's covering that when he doesn't you're left wondering what the hell the defensive call was.  Amazing that the Packers were able to hold their composure and pull this game out.
"Oh What A Feeling BeerKid!" you were sooooooooo right! The Packers (and their loyal fans) have the current bragging rights for this "border battle" and it feels great!
My wife and I took in the game and it was awesome seeing a victory and the usual flood of Vi-Queen fans streaming out of the "Humpty Dump" well before the game was over too.
The Vi-Queen "whine-lines" are full to capacity with these self proclaimed "NFL's best fans" on the local sports talk radio station calling for Brad Johnson's head.
We stayed late after the game with around 250 other Packer fans still in the dome and we ran into Brett's wife Deanna, signing autographs and taking pictures with the Packer faithful. She shook hands and signed my ticket stub.
She signed everything that was put in front of her and she looked great! I think we Packer fans all looked and felt great after today's v-i-c-t-o-r-y! Yes, sweeeeeeeeeeeet victory!
Packers Verses Vikings...
The silence from both Green Bay and Minnesota fans
Is a tragic comment on the way this season's going
Usually by the time the schedule is half done
One of these teams' fans would be loudly crowing
But this year is different from the norm
As neither team has a lot to talk about
They've both fallen short of expectations
And the fans are wondering what's it all about
Last week's games were truly a case in point
Of how both teams' seasons have gone
Minnesota went west while Green Bay went east
But in both cases everything went wrong
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Vikings' defense held strong and fast
Keeping the 'Niners from the end zone
But the Viking offense sputtered and stalled
Leaving their fans to shudder and moan

Brad Johnson fumbled twice and threw a pick
While the running game couldn't get on track
Once it looked like they'd scored on a pass
But a penalty brought the football back

Minnesota couldn't move the ball
And they certainly couldn't score
They only managed a measly field goal
While the 'Niners kicked one and then two more

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Packers too faced a trying time
As they faced the lowly Buffalo Bills
They out gained that team so massively
That Green Bay's fans were having chills
Late in the game the Pack was running well
With a first down at the one-yard line
Knowing a score would force a tie
And the game would turn out just fine
For whatever reason McCarthy called for a pass
It was tipped and went horribly wrong
For the Bills picked it off and then ran it back
And any chance Green Bay had said "so long"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So who will win this week's game?
The answer isn't very clear
Both teams' strengths and weaknesses balance out
Though neither exactly inspires too much fear

Brett Favre should be the difference
For unlike his Vikings' counterpart
He can still throw the ball downfield
For his arm is as strong as his heart

So while the vacuums are cleaning up
The turf at the Humphrey Metrodome
The Vikes will be licking the loser's wounds
As the winners board their plane for home

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Green Bay lost to the Buffalo Bills  10-24
Minnesota lost to the San Francisco Forty-Niners  3-9
Q: What do you call a Mudduck on the moon?
A: A Problem.
Q: What do you call 100 Mudducks on the moon?
A: An even bigger problem.
Q: What do you call all the Mudducks on the moon?
A: Problem solved!!!
Two Packer fans were walking through a cemetery when they happened upon a tombstone that read: "Here lies Johnny Doe, a good man and a Viking fan." So, one Packer fan asked the other: "When the hell did they start putting two people in one grave?"
Q: How many Minnesota Vikings can you get in a police car?
A: One in the front, one in the back, and one on top going "eeeeee aaaaaaa eeeeeeee aaaaa"
Q: What do you call a dead Mudduck in a closet?
A: Last years winner to the hide and seek contest.
Q. Why do Queens fans whistle whilst sitting on the toilet?
A. So they know which end to wipe!
Q: What do you say to a Queens fan with a job?
A: Can I have a Big Mac please!
Q. Two Mudducks jump off a cliff. Which one hits the ground first?.
A. Who gives a F*** ?
Brad Childress went to the Vikings halloween party as a pumpkin.
Come midnight he still hadn't turned into a coach.
Q: What would Brad Johnson's name be if he was a Spice Girl?
A: Waste of Spice.
Thanks goes to Lemondrop for dropping these mudduck jokes on us, it helped that during my 3 minutes of free time last night I had some needed laughs.  Now it's time to go into the Dome and make it 3 losses in a row for the Vikqueens.
Here's another from Duane in AGC:
Hey, BeerKid, I hope it's not too late for this one:
A Packer fan and a misguided Viking fan were standing side by side in the Men's Room at Lambeau Field. The misguided Viking fan finished his business and went to the sink to wash up. The Packer fan finished and headed for the door. The now incredulous and misguided Viking fan called out, "Hey, didn't your mother teach you to wash your hands?" To which the Packer fan responded, "My mother taught me not to piss on my hands."
It seems like it is McCarthy's mission to get the all-time touchdown record for Favre this season. It seems like we are seeing more slants at the goal line than ever before. I thought someone would have mentioned it, but all we get is more Al Harris dribble...
Interesting read on the situation... If Brett breaks Dan Marino's career TD record, and he doesn't break George Blanda's INT record, will Brett retire in at least some glory?  Al Harris is getting picked on more because Ahmad Carroll is gone, and it shows that Al is a very good CB, but has some breakdowns during the game, and when you average at least one penalty a game - you don't make the Pro Bowl.
Speak Out Spew Off...
It feels like it's a Funk #49 - How could the Packers let themselves lose a game that they outplayed their opponet so easily... I guess you might say the Pack was outcoached, or maybe you can blame it out on over-thinking to much.  The whole running the ball up the middle on just about every 1st down... sure it set up at least one pass to a TE and Ahman Green and had a long run on first down to start the 2nd half.  But is that philosophy worth following when it leads to 0-10 deficit at halftime?  I don't think so, and then after running all-over the Bills in the 2nd half, we get a short 1st and goal and instead of capitalizing on running the ball on 1st down, Brett Favre wings one out, INT!!! It was the chance to tie the game late... and I must have said F**k about 175 times during the game.  Ugly, as in the game and my mood.
So there still comes a silver lining... Besides the Bears loss to the Dolphins, the Vikings played worse than us in San Francisco and we still have the chance to go into Minnesota and with a win, pull the Vikqueens down to our level in the NFC North standings at 4-5.  The Pack would own the tie-breaker... It's the only glimmer on the horizon that I'm following this week.
Hey BeerKid..... Just got done turning off the game after 1st and goal for another INT and the resulting TD. I've gotta say each week I watch the Pack, it's like watching what team is more inept. The Packers or similar 1-5, 2-5, etc. team they're playing against. I think there needs to be a law that you can only run the slant pattern no more 1 billoin times!!!! The first one Favre threw for a touchdown to the other team, had no business of being thrown!! They lined up in their defense and had two LBs in the way on either side to throw that inside slant pass. I have no fucking idea what the hell Favre was thinking????????????? Get a chance to watch that play again, you will see what I mean, there was no movement or trickery by the defense. I think it's time to move on with Rodgers, so as the team progresses, it doesn't have to take a step back to get a new QB some game experience. If anyone out there wants to debate..... fine I'm up for it... send in what you've got. History was good, now it's time to move to the future. I've seen them snatch defeat from the jaws of victory twice this year............lets move on since they're intent on plying like this. Patriots by 50 points easy!!!!!!!!
Long Live the Pack!!!
OKAY, NOW I'M REALLY PISSED OFF... LET'S REWARD THIS GUY FOR F'N UP??? DID TED "I HAVE NO FUCKING CLUE" THOMPSON NOT SEE LAST SUNDAY'S GAME? I SUPPOSE NOT WITH HIS HEAD UP HIS ASS AND ALL.
Packers extend Wells' contract
Green Bay - The Green Bay Packers have rewarded center Scott Wells for his steady performance this season with a multi-year contract extension that will keep him from becoming a restricted free agent in the off-season.
PACKER PAUL - MINNEAPOLIS, MN.
I saw that too and had just about the same violent reaction that you had Packer Paul, and then I realized all the Packers want in offensive lineman is cheap and adequate.  It hurts...
Hey BeerKid....Anyone notice a similarity with the Pats-Colts/Cowboys-Packers games. Every year the Pack got stuck going to Dallas giving them the tye breaker for the home spot if they won their home game each year. Just like the Colts. For some reason, one team gets a, seems like 5 years pass, instead of rotating.
BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now don't go wishing on us some type of "GroundHogs Day" scenario's for the Packers - that meet the Cowboys on the road twice a year was head-banging-wall enough to last for anyone's lifetime of experiences.
HAPPY MONDAY BEERKID?!?
I CAN'T BELIEVE WE LET THIS ONE GET AWAY. I EVEN WENT TO CHURCH SUNDAY MORNING AND WORKED MY "GREEN AND GOLD" BEADS BEFORE THE GAME. THE PACKERS CERTAINLY "BEAT THEMSELVES" AGAINST BUFFALO; THIS GAME WAS OURS.
SCOTT WELLS FUCKED UP ONE TOO MANY TIMES (COST US BIG TIME) AND WHAT WAS WITH THE DECISION TO THROW ON "FIRST AND GOAL" WHEN AHMAN WAS AVERAGING 5.3 YARDS PER CARRY. I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO HAVE A BRAIN HEMORRHAGE WHEN McCARTHY CALLED THAT PLAY AFTER IT WAS TIPPED AND INTERCEPTED. I HAD VISIONS OF OUR 2003 PLAYOFF GAME IN PHILLY WHEN WE WERE 3RD AND ONE FUCKING YARD AND SHERMAN DECIDES TO TRY THE HARD COUNT AND TRY TO BRING THEM OFF SIDES.
YOU MAY RECALL AHMAN WAS HAVING ANOTHER 5 + YARDS PER CARRY AVERAGE THAT DAY ALSO. FACE IT; WE NEED TO PLACE THE BLAME ON SCOTT WELLS AND COACH McCARTHY FOR THIS TOUGH LOSS. GO PACK GO AND LET'S KICK SOME ASS AT THE "HUMPTY DUMP" AGAINST DA-QUEENS!!!
PACKER PAUL - MINNEAPOLIS,MN.
Again...Bubba Franks is the worst Tightend in the NFL. He can't block and he can't catch. Period.
Sure looks that way, doesn't it.  Thank God that David Martin has finally lifted his play to a better level.
Hey BeerKid.......Mike Woods has a column posted in packernet about how selfish Al Harris is. Well I'd like to see the paper he works for, hire a new repoter and pay him alot more than ol'Mikey, give him the easy assignments, etc. and see how the hell he likes it. We don't need dumbshits like him writing articles!!! The Packers created this and now they're left with having to a least pay him the same as Woodson or a smidgion more or face the consequences. It's quit simple really be it football or a factory job.
Long Live the Pack!!!
I loved how Al Harris is supposed to be the cover guy but yet he bailed on his WR to cover an empty zone... nice job Al.  That re-worked contract doesn't look like it will happen with this level of play from him.  Didn't he drop an INT right to him after an amazing recovery (ok it was under-thrown ball) after being beaten?
Packers Verses...
While lumbering around on Lambeau's sideline
Denny Green may have reflected on the days
When he'd bring the Minnesota Vikings in
And usually lose the game to Green Bay
While the team was different the outcome wasn't
As the Packers ground the Cardinals into mush
And for once it wasn't Brett Favre's arm
But the Packers' new-found ability to rush
Green Bay started this year slowly
Making fans wonder if they'd ever win
But with this team beginning to play together
It appears they're reborn once again
This to Buffalo the Packers will shuffle
To face a Bills team labeled as 'underachievers'
While their running game has been a strength
There's not been much scoring from the wide receivers
This is a game that will be won in classic ways
As the play of the lines will tell the tale
While the Bills will be trying to upset the Pack
Ultimately they are going to fail
And while the Bills will play the Packers tough
They've not seen Green Bay's best game yet.
The Week In Review...
Sunday:  The Packers win a big game (for them) at home over the Arizona Cardinals 31-14.  An easy win?  We had our suspicion's after that botched fake FG attempt on the Packers first series... but with the help of DE Aaron Kampman (Defensive NFL Player of the Week) and rookie LB A.J. Hawk along with everyone else on defense, and steady game plan of passing the ball with QB Brett Favre and 100 game performances from RB's Ahman Green and Vernand Morency (106, 101 yds respectively) and the Packers did roll out to a 21 pt lead and eventual 31-14 thrashing of the now lowly Denny Green and the Cardinals.  The usual large quanities of Chimay Triple Lager were consumed during the victory celebration.
Monday:  Much to our delight here at Packer Palace the New England Patriots clobbered and humiliated the Minnesota Vikings 31-7.  Big smiles all around as we head into that Packer-Viking matchup coming up on Nov. 12th in Minnesota.  Vikings are one of those weak teams with a winning record, where-as the Packers are one of those strong teams with a losing record.  This is going to be one those great defining games that we fans all love... but we've gotten ahead of ourselves here.
Tuesday:  Happy Halloween!!!  Attended a costume party at a bowling alley.  Good fun all around, just went as your typical Demon with Goathorns in black regalia... thought about the Packer Zombie from New Orleans get-up, didn't want to damage or lose any of my key (as important to the Packers winning each week) paraphernalia during the party.  And as with most of us demons, we're never caught on film.  Here's one of the better pictures from Halloween Night, our beloved Princess Twins in an active battle of hugs and kisses, and "BoomBox" Shawn with his authentic IPod powered BoomBox shown up above.
Wednesday:  Working off the post-party hangover jitters from Sunday... RB Vernand Morency is out for this week so the Packers have snagged RB P.J. Pope off the Chicago Bears practice squad.  Still working off the post-party hangover jitters from Tuesday night's fun... Asleep by 10:00pm, even with a houseguest staying overnight on the couch. (ed.note: Dude - Where's this weeks flash animation?)
Thursday:  Big game agaist the Buffalo Bills coming this Sunday.  We'll be in our usual Sunday hangout - The Daily Pint 23rd/Pico in Santa Monica - watching the game on the over-sized projection screen TV like always.  The Bills are no pushovers but the Packers are in a key must-win game to draw themselves up to a 4-4 record at the halfway point of the NFL year.  It's a road game the Packers can win.  Our defense is playing well and the Bills have a rather inept offense themselves, and our offense is starting to play smarter and stronger and should offset their tough defense.  The Pack can win!  (ed.note: Ummmm The flash movie for this week?)
BeerKid - Still Pack 4 Life!
P.S. the Flash movie - It's coming, It's coming, at some point... this week.
Hey BeerKid..... I know this is not about the Packers really, but I sure hope MM and TT pick up on this stuff because did you see what the Pats did to the Vikes Monday night??? Once again there coaches look at a team and morph into whatever is best to beat it. They've done that offensively and defensively over the years and simply outcoach the teams they play (they have the players for it)&(even when they really don't, like now with three rookie and/or FA O-linemen and one receiver from last year) I just hope the Pack coaching staff is taking notes from the Pats team and games.....see something good, copy it and make it better!!! And the Pack will be playing them soon. I just hope the Packers play well enough to make them stay awake during the game when the time comes.
Long Live the Pack!!!
I'm trying to figure out if the Patriots spanking of the Vikes is a good thing for us Packers fans - a way to beat the Vikes, or a bad thing, now fearful of the Patriots coming into Lambeau and doing the same to us.
Hey BeerKid..... A few quick thoughts. First it's nice to see things coming along. That said, they have a lot of rookies and 1-2 year players, so don't go getting all excited everyone. Second.... I still don't think that Shotty Baby is a SB caliber coach, but MM is going to stick with him, so one of us will have to be wrong and I hope it's me. Third...... I like the play calling alot. All the way back to the Philly game in a lost cause they run it four times to see where they were at. To the end around with Driver last week on 4th and 1. To the fake FG this week even though it failed and should have been a run at 4th and 1. He's calling them to win and sometimes just to learn. Forth.... I was surprised they didn't play a two tight-end set last week with Clifton out and low on receivers.... and slow to react in the first two series to react to that situation. Lastly.......I think the Pack needs to be be the pioneers and do adjustable contracts. Keep'em a little shorter and less money in them. Then take it upon themselves to adjust the contracts that need it, fairly. I think w/Harris you have to look at his whole body of work since he came here and the fact that he shadows the top receiver and is getting paid less the the other one, and say hey... He's getting up in years and it won't benefit us from redoing his contract, but is probably the right thing to do.
Long Live the Pack!!!
