We're Going With Brett...

All the way back to 1996. The Onion has had up for a week this very funny take on the whole "Brett Favre wants to be traded" fun we all went through a few weekends back. Easy to laugh it all off now... barely, anyway do click on over to The Onion and read the whole hilarious article on Brett's New Trade Demands.

Brett Favre Demands Trade To 1996 Packers

GREEN BAY — Three-time MVP and undisputed future Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre, disappointed with the Packers' refusal to aggressively pursue receiver Randy Moss and frustrated with his team's apparent indifference to making immediate improvements on offense, is demanding a trade to the team he feels will give him the best shot at winning a last Super Bowl ring before his retirement: the 1996 Green Bay Packers.

"I just don't think this Packer team, and GM Ted Thompson especially, is thinking in terms of winning with me," said Favre, speaking to reporters at his charity golf tournament in Mississippi Sunday. "On the other hand, 1996 Packers GM Ron Wolf is committed to building the team completely around me. I don't think it's out of the question to say that with me behind center, the 1996 Packers are looking at going all the way to the Super Bowl."

"It would really be something," Favre said. "We'd be one of the all-time great teams, a once-in-a-lifetime thing, you know? I'm going to have my agent look into it right away."

Come join Brett and us as we head on back to 1996 when the Packers were a great team, with Super Bowl potential and Packer Palace was just starting to feel its way around the web. Go Pack!

Speak Out Spew Off...

Offseason sightings:  OK, I was just drinking more beer in Pacific Palisades, CA and who do I meet? A 2005 Green Bay Packer training camp WR... Mike Payton (from L.A.) via WVU Tech. OK, Mike was too honest and said he was only there for a very short time, but he was a really nice guy. I told him about our "freak" Packer website, PP, and he said he'd heard about it! Anyway, if you've had any run-ins with any Packers, let us know your story! Just click on any Vince Head and send Beerkid the details and photos! C'mon don't be shy people!

BeerScout - Still Pack 4 Life!

I like to hear that we need to give Ted 4-5 years. So how many years does he have remaining?? I don't want to hear he gets more years when Favre retires. Regarding, Harlan, since Holmgren we have seen the likes Rhodes and Sherman. Now there were some great executive decisions. Using the excuse that there is no free agent out there that would have helped this team is questionable. I am sure every other GM who picked up free agents doesn't have a team as deep and stacked as the Packers. It is nice we have that luxury.

I like many fans, think it is good to hold management accountable. I don't want to go back to the years of accepting losing. Once you get used to it you can justify many things. I think Ted's days should be numbered if we have a losing record this year. I understand some think that drafting for special teams this year will really help this team. I hope it does, just hold Ted Thompson accountable if we have a losing record at the end of the season.

Everybody's held accountable, and it's been 3 years of off-season moves for TT and this year may be the "make or break" year, well probably not, it would take a fairly horrendous year for that to happen. It appears that TT is getting 5 years only to make the playoffs, let alone an actual playoff contender. BeerKid.

Hey Beerkid, ...thought I'd finally 'check-in'. I've stopped by to catch up, but wanted to say hey. Here's a pic for ya. Does TT always look like this?! Can someone relay to him that the 'scared' look is so out. We're tired of the look of just plain 'ol "duh"! Just 'cuz he's in deer country doesn't mean he has to always look like one stuck in the middle of the road looking at a set of headlights. Besides, I thought hunting season was over-for now.....

On another note, I'm looking forward to seeing what we will do this year. The draft wasn't as good as I would like, considering we need a jump in the offense, but we'll see what turns up. I'm predicting we'll be 10-6, hopefully even 11-5. As long as we beat the Vikings in the NFC North and make it to the playoffs, I'll be very happy!

Love the 'Favre Inside' logo. It's currently my desktop background. One of my favorites so far! Keep up the good work.

Lady K - Packer Club of Hemet, Calif.

Hey LK, yup, that's pretty much how TT looks 24/7. BeerKid.

Hey BeerKid... Things that make you go hhhmmmmmmmm....???? Ok, after reading a few stories and some responses from readers (one in particlar), Harlan is a great man in his care and love for the Packers that he'd make this call on Jones, even as close as they are to transferring power... So, yet we are to believe that Harlan is really very evil, in that he hired TT (or Albino Ted, as one guy calls him) just to secretly ruin the Packers.

Hey, if after one good year you don't label Javon Walker a star and pay him the big bucks... do you after one bad year label Manquel a bust and replace him???? Why haven't the Packers traded K. Barry to the Texans yet... are they waiting for a Texan's linemen to go down so they can get a better trade?

Just a few quick thoughts... I liked the contradiction that was made with Harlan (as I thought about it).

Long Live the Pack!!!

Hey LLtP, obviously TT wasn't hired to ruin the Packers, but at WR, we haven't replaced Javon Walker's ability yet. You would think that S Marquand Manuel couldn't play any worse then last year, so I would expect that his play will improve and start again this year, perhaps only Marviel Underwood, if he can stay healthy, will challenge him seriously, and then there's the rookie Aaron Rouse, with his size, could be a star in waiting. I like T Kevin Barry, but the Packers have moved on from his style of line-play, and I'm fairly sure that the Texans are waiting for the Packers to release him, rather then trade even a 7th round pick for him. And as for Jones, health problems can affect your leadership abilities. BeerKid.

You know BeerKid... I'm really stuck between what might happen this year. You have a team from last year that put out an 8-8 record, which could have landed in the 9-7 catagory and the play-offs, yet were steam-rolled by good teams. That being said, they played a fair amount w/three rookies on the O-line and one at WR. They had one at LB and Poppy you may as well have called one too. Rookie kicker and punter, for the most part. Can't be making excuses, I know!!! Now we're kind of looking at a rookie RB situation this year, but I think if they knock off a couple decent teams...........WATCH OUT!!!!! Draftwise, I'd like to say if someone had drafted Brady first over-all, they'd been pissing and moaning..... you rate them, you take them, you stand by it!!!! I couldn't give a shit if someone had Jones as a 5th.... he just might shove that up their ass!!!!! I'd like to say that I've watched Fergy all these years and I'm more than really fucking tired of them listing the clothesline tackle in with seasons he's missed w/injury...... that's bullshit, don't include that cheap shot on his stats!!! The guy is a special teams monster and could easily be worth the money for that alone. He and Davenport made a hell of a kick-off return team!!!!!! Next......... as coveted as DL are, if you can get a good one w/o having a top ten pick, your lucky!! TT may have stole one w/o being a piece of shit team to do it.... I'm certainly on board with his pick.... if there's nothing outstanding, and is needed on O....... grab some good D!!!!!! And Robinson is back at game 4 which everyone seems to be ignoring. He's a 1, good 2, and a 2 at least!!! He'll be playing at full speed by game six!!!

Everyone wants to get too excited about TT and MM!!! They have been saying the same thing over and over.... which is very good, right or wrong!!!! He gets his five years to prove himself in my book. We'll see how he does..... TT may not be on the same page as his last chance 37 y/o QB!!! We have two guys on different paths and fucking TT better get it right!! Fucking Favre needs to get the INT's around the single digits with the other top flight QB's. I think Sherman had it right. Favre can't carry a team, he's very good supporting cast though. Unfortunately Sherman was not very good at the tough decisions, after installing a running game almost second to none!!! At a minumum, I expect the rookies will give the good teams a decent fight this year and I could see them being very dangerous next year!!! I think fans look at names and Kiper's draft board too much!! OK, I'm in a Margarita drinking kind of mood tonight!!!!

It's coming, I can feel it!!! Put a bunch of cocky kids together...

Long Live the (this/next year devistatingly awesome) Pack!!!!

You really see the different styles of the last 3 GM's that the Packers have had. Ron Wolf is held up as the standard, he had great drafts, he had poor drafts, he was able to grab some free agents, he missed on some, he mostly had Coach Mike Holmgren, QB Brett Favre and DE Reggie White. Those 3 made Wolf's tenure successful. Mike Sherman became GM way before his time, he always seemed to gamble on players who were starters, or out of the league, resulting in few draft choices and no depth to the team's roster, with aging QB Brett Favre, his tenure was moderately successful. Ted Thompson, almost completely through the draft, has built the Packers depth up incredibly over the last 2 years. But is it enough to win 10 or 11 games this year? Finally, nothing wrong with the Margarita drinking kind of mood, I'm quite fond of that feeling myself. BeerKid.

Speak Out Spew Off...

The Packers Insider Blog has some more lines from Saturdays mini-camp by the Green Bay Packers. Check it out: Afternoon Wrap , worth a few minutes of your time. I'm sure they'll have more info on Sundays camp breakdown up eventually too.

Packer Net has Fridays Sportsline 05/18/07 WDUZ radio rebroadcast show with Kevin Garthwaite and Johnny Gray, they focus on Brett Favre's news conference from that Friday morning.

Also make some time to browse through Packer Net's Article page for your daily feedbag of Packers news. There's a few players who are facing the step up your play or you're stepping out, but it's early, the summers going to be long and the real training camp doesn't start until late July. Can't hardly wait. Go Pack!

BeerKid - Still Pack 4 Life!

Hey BeerKid...

Long time. Always good to call by your site from time to time to pour over the latest entries. I read that your 1,000,000th visitor has now passed by. Great effort and a reward for your prolonged consistency.

Any way the other day I was searching for some information on St Norberts College and found a reference to the Rockwood Lodge fire in 1950 which eventually led to the selection of St Norberts in 1958 as the Packers Training Facility.

The Rockwood Lodge reference reminded me of the BeerKid which reminded me of a question I've wanted to ask in the past. How does one leave a post in response to a "Speak Out Spew Off"... is it by email?

Also before I sign off... here's a beer recommendation for you... The Monteiths Celtic Red brewed in New Zealand is an excellent drop. One of my favourites. I actually got to visit the brewery last year on a holiday to NZ. Great stuff...

Bye for now.

Peter - Packer Backer From Down Under

Peter, it's fine to email, but the anonymous comment form for "Speak Out, Spew Off!" can be found by clicking on any of the Vince Lombardi Audio God icons found with his quotes, and the icon is always at the bottom of any of the blog pages. We'll see if we can round up some Celtic Red the next were out and about.

Check out this video of Packers fans losing it after the choice of Harrell.. this definitely made me feel better knowing there were others out there like me! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekPumyJjdX4

Hey Cheeser, Thanks for the laugh, If Brett is capable of attending Packers Training Camp in 2020, well, my hat's off to him... but Lord Favre seems to want something more, the I'm too good to come to camp feeling... Maybe it was wise to keep Randy Moss off the team.

Speak Out Spew Off...

One thing to add about rookie RB Brandon Jackson missing this weekend's mandatory training camp due to the NFL's Premiere Photo Shoot for rookies in Los Angeles. This comes from Colt's head coach Tony Dungy who mentioned that his player, Anthony Gonzales who will also miss this weekend's mini-camp, that once the NFL invites the 35 rookies to attend the photo shoot, it becomes mandatory. In another words, Jackson's agent did not double-book Brandon for this weekend. So for both head coaches Mike McCarthy and Tony Dungy, it was have the mini-camp on Mothers Day weekend, or have a top rookie miss this 2nd mini-camp.

A great place to catch some video of the Packers last week of turmoil, is to head on over to AOL's NFL Fanhouse Green Bay Packers blog. Down towards the bottom of their right-hand column of links and info, you can find video feeds for stories on Brett Favre's upset over not acquiring Randy Moss, the story from ESPN on 70,000 fans waiting on the Season Ticket List, and a much more. Worth checking out.

Here's a rundown of the Packers 1st day of mini-camp from Packers News Insider Blog Gone Campin'. It's a breakdown of some of the Packers key players and new players who are already starting to impress.

BeerKid - Still Pack 4 Life!

All is said and done when you take the field.

BIG ERN said so!!!!!!!!!

Hey BeerKid..... I'm about as likely to find a Chimay on the shelves around here as you are to find a Spotted Cow on yours!!! That said, as I check things out each morning, I've read about as much as I can stand!!! Fans pissing and moaning cause they didn't do enough to help Favre this year, pissing and moaning cause they didn't trade away this years first round pick and some more threatening never to go to a game if Moss is a Packer and more yet pisssing and moaning (Favre incuded) that we didn't get Moss!!! I can't hardly stand to read anything anymore!!! Part II to follow.

Long Live the Pack!!!

Hey BeerKid..... Part II. The way I see it, there are 31 teams chasing the Patriots. So there's an example the Pack and everyone should look to. I keep saying how the Pats have injuries, rookies, lose both receivers. lose a few O/D coordinators and all they do is win. D-backfield all injured, convert a reciver. Stick in a few F/A's and rookies in the O-line, not a problem. Both receiers leave as F/A's, just a 2-3 TD lead over the Colts at halftime before falling asleep and losing last year (and our fans are stiiiiilllll pissing and moaning about Walker). One O-coordinator left and two D's (Mangini was my pick, looks good for the Jets, hey...). The Pats were very close to matching 5 championship in 7 years the Pack has accomplished. So very, very close, even with all those obsticles. They may still, they might win the next three. So that's what I want, a team that's solid in every way, solid foundation, pushing for SB's every year!!! The fans have gotten a bit rediculous!!! No-one thought Harlan was an idiot after hiring Holmgren/Wolf and the resulting SB's, but now he is? TT may not be building for now, but he got this job (not because he's an idiot, I imagine) so you need to give him 4-5 years and judge the product. That's only fair. We may want something sooner for Favre, but after watching the teams with something to play for last year whip the Pack w/o hardly working up a sweat, I'm kind of wondering what players in free agency we were going to get to fix all that. Then again if they get on a run and get some confidence, they could be dangerous this year. That said, fucking TT had better get this franchise back in shape by the time his time is up and if he doesn't want to sign F/A's...... then he'd better draft with the best of them!!!! With or w/o Favre, he'd better get us back to where we all want to be and that's winning!!!!

Long Live the Pack!!!

Spew Off Speak Out...

If you want more on the Brett Favre and Ted Thompson Green Bay Packers fiasco - check out Chris Havel & Harry Sydney's radio show from yesterday at Packer Net's Radio Replay Page of WDUZ's Sportsline 05/14/07 radio show.

Sounds like the impression is that TT really didn't want WR Randy Moss in GB, kind of acted like he did to string things along, had to know that Brett Favre would know about all the negotiations (shares the same agent Bus Cook with Randy) and that Oakland Raider Owner Al Davis didn't want to trade Moss to any AFC team. Basically, the Packers had Randy Moss for a 4th/5th round pick and re-negotiated contract around 3 million guaranteed and TT passed on that, knowing that Brett would more than likely get upset over it.

Also there's an alleged gentleman's agreement between Brett and Ted. Brett announces he's playing again this year before the Super Bowl Game, and Ted would try to upgrade the team in an effort to get some offensive play makers to help the Packers offense. It's safe to say that hasn't happened... yet. No, it's not bringing in Keyshawn Johnson, even with his talent and age, he would be the 2nd or 3rd WR on this team behind only Donald Driver. I'd rather have had... ahh it's just sour grapes, and well, TT sucks.

A Public Service Announcement...

Speak Out Spew Off...

What a fun 3 days this has been! Who would have thought that Brett Favre would be the one to call out Ted Thompson over the off-season (lack of) acquisitions and potential failure of TT's football philosophy. Let me assure you, it is about philosophy. It's the Win-Now vs. Win-Later, and building for the future is a win-later philosophy. Like most fans, we here at Packer Palace want to win now. Brett's been in his twilight of career for a few years already, and Packers are not doing much to acquire any explosive offensive players that would help Brett, or any QB the Packers are planning on counting on to win playoff games.

Brett has gone through some emotional times with his on-field and off-field life. He wants to play hard. He wants to win, and it's finally dawned on him that even after 3 years GM TT is still rebuilding for some payoff 2,3 or even 4 years down the road. I don't remember anyone telling me it was a 5 year plan to take the divisional crown or make the playoffs again. The Packers had come off 3 straight NFC North Divisional Championships when TT showed up. Sure the Packers were declining some, but rebuild? Start over? Why?

The salary cap increased by over 20 million those first 2 years of TT's reign. Sticking with Mike Sherman as coach for another year may have been unwise, but to go with a rookie coach who wanted to install a zone-blocking offense when the Packers were one of the premiere power running teams in the league, may have been his biggest mistake. That's one that has directly effected the offense's red zone scoring last year. By not getting an explosive TE or WR it's going to be a big issue this year. The Packers were probably wise to draft the best long range kicker in college last year.

BeerKid - Still Pack 4 Life!

Building for the long term or an excuse for more time!!!

Beerkid, I have waited a couple weeks to let the draft go down in history and let my blood pressure come down to the point I can talk about the draft without getting light headed. I know everyone says TT is building for the long term - to be honest when is he responsible for the team and the record. We have done nothing to improve our offense since TT came to Green Bay. Many have blamed Favre's declining skills for the Packers sink into mediocrity. I blame one person, Ted Thompson!!!! I don't want to hear the draft was for the future and Favre is being selfish. I don't think TT has wanted Favre to be in Green Bay since he arrived. He has worked continuously at dismantling our offense and done almost nothing to give Favre the tools to be successful. Basically, I don't blame Favre for being pissed. Thompson has wasted a couple years of his Favre's career and then sat back while people have taken shots at him for being selfish and upset he has short armed mensa's like Ferguson running routes that will never result in a completion!!

I am just plain tired of the current Packer management. I know their defenders will come running to center stage to say you have to look to the future. I say the future is NOW!! I want to win NOW. Ted will want more rebuilding years when Favre retires and some will say you have to give it to him. NO WAY, the future is now. Ted you are on the clock this season. I am all for us to trade down and send you on your way for a 4th round draft pick.

The Future is NOW!!

Hey BeerKid, Well, Brett is pissed off and with good reason. For the record, I continue my "Let's run Ted out of town" campaign. He fucked up the draft and did absolutely nothing to acquire a seasoned free agent during the off season. I am sure Brett and a cast of 50 or so of his team mates would love to see a "changing of the guard" at 1265 Lombardi Avenue.

Mike Holmgren must be laughing his ass off every time Ted fucks up and rattles the chains of the PACKER NATION. Why not, Ol Mike unloaded Ted upon an unsuspecting organization and we are now paying dearly for his inability to manage the PACKER organization.

Shit, did you wonder during the draft when our number came up whether he would pick up Brady Quinn? The thought ran across my mind, but just for a micro second. I was sure we were going to load up our offense and start with our first draft pick of a receiver or a prime-time running back.

Instead, the PACKER faithful shouted out load in unison, "What the FUCK, a Defensive Tackle, from where??"

The PACKER cam at Lambeau said it all after our first round draft pick was selected.

Anyway, I just wanted to chime in as it has been a while and I want to invite everyone in PACKER NATION to put together some (ahem) tasteful banners to post during training camp and demand that Ted be run out of town before he destroys this proud franchise.

Hey BeerKid, Your trusty LEMONS fan here. I'm feeling the remorse of the poor GM-ing! # 4 is beloved by all football fans!!!

I propose a trade: Millen, Kitna, and 6 of our next 7 4th round picks plus 3 mil. for Bret, Teddy and Aaron R. We have WR's, O plenty.

How the F*#$ does a team/GM treat a Hall of Fame QB like this. Good organizations help there H.O.F. players at the twilight of there careers get one more championship, NOT sabotage it! More lies and cover ups out of Green Bay. It is time to purge the NFL of inept GM's. I can't imagine #4 wearing anything but green and gold. Even after more & more Chimay's a bad GM is still Rotten, not Johnny.

Speak Out Spew Off...

All's calm the weekend before the first mini-camp of the year. We've heard that both QB's Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers won't be participating physically, we've heard that all 3 days of practices are going to be closed to the public, so any information we get will be through the media sources that will be invited inside the Don Hutson Center. So nothing to get too excited about, guess the Packers don't want the fans to see the draft picks on display, I've always had the feeling that I've been participating with the Packers over the years, but not this year. I feel like I've been told to go away, lame-ass free agency, lame-ass draft picks, lame-ass as in how did we help your offense to score some red-zone points this year. Oh I know how a strong defense will give the Packers 2 or 3 more offensive possessions a game, that still doesn't translate into scoring points, touchdowns anyway, lot's of FG's on this year's horizon.

BeerKid - Still Pack 4 Life!

Great jokes.

If you're looking for a lighter but exotic beer, try Imperial from Costa Rica. Only about 4.6% alcohol but mighty tasty. Since it's only about half the alcohol of your Chimays, you should be un-hung over by Monday.

Aren't 10:00am games great? I remember I was so excited when I moved to San Diego, that I never even "got" the time change and just thought they started playing earlier. If you're ever in San Diego, stop by the Aussie Pub (Grand and Cass in Pacific Beach) on game day. I'll buy you a few for all the entertainment you've provided me.

Keep up the good work. At the tap!

At The Beach...

BeerKid was walking along the beach early one morning with a bit of a sore head when he tripped over something in the sand. Reaching down, he picked up a lamp and starting rubbing it. There was a huge crack of thunder, an awesome amount of smoke, and lo and behold, a genie appeared.

"Mornin' Lad," said the genie. "For releasing me from two thousand years of bondage, I'll be grantin' ya three wishes."

"Isn't this grand there, eh," said BeerKid. "Can I have a pint of Chimay Blue?"

"Sure of course ye can," said the genie. And poof! a pint appeared in BeerKid's hand. BeerKid starting sipping away at the pint. "Oh for Criminy's sake, this has to be the best pint I've ever been tasting."

"Of course it is," said the genie. "I'm a genie after all, and I do know a bit about tasty pints. Now, let's get on with business. You've got two more wishes left, and I haven't got all day!"

"Now just be holdin' on der," said BeerKid. "I want to enjoy me pint."

"Ah," said the genie. "That's a magic pint."

"And what do ye be meanin' by that, eh?" asked BeerKid.

"Well," said the genie, "as soon as it's done, it'll fill right back up again just as good as the first."

"Is that so," said BeerKid, finishing off the pint. Sure enough, back up it came, and when he tasted it, it really was every bit as good as the first one.

"Now," said the genie, "about those other two wishes?"

"Ah," said BeerKid, "Well I'll have two more o' these!"

Lord Faaaaavre's Castle...

You can see why Brett was ready to sell his house in Green Bay. He had this little estate tucked away down (to respect the Favre Family's privacy, we'll say) south of Wisconsin a ways and towards the Gulf of Mexico just a bit.

From the note attached with the 2 pics - "Looks like a small city, doesn't it? Favre's newly built house in Mississippi. He owns 400 acres around the house as well." - not really a city, but describing it as a Castle in th middle of a pine forest sounds about right. Doesn't that look a bit like a short Golf hole running all along the driveway down towards the river, even a sandtrap close by to practice pitch shot's from? Why not, his salary supports it, and I should say that he's been worth every spent dollar to the Packers Organization and it's Fans all these years. Money well spent... Money well deserved.

BeerKid - Still Pack 4 Life!

Quoth Lombardi...

I don't think there's a punch-line scheduled, is there?

The QB And The Ref...

It was a particularly tough football game, and nerves were on edge. The home team had been the victim of three or four close calls, and they were now trailing the visitors by a touch-down and a field goal. When the official called yet another close one in the visitors' favor, the home quarterback blew his top.

How many times can you do this to us in a single game?" he screamed. "You were wrong on the out-of-bounds, you were wrong on that last first down, and you missed an illegal tackle in the first quarter."

The official just stared.

The quarterback seethed, but he suppressed the language that might get him tossed from the game. "What it comes down to," he bellowed, "is that you STINK!"

The official stared a few more seconds. Then he bent down, picked up the ball, paced off 15 yards, and put the ball down. He turned to face the steaming quarterback.

The official finally replied, "And how do I smell from here?"

The Coach And The QB...

At one point during a football game, the Eagles coach said to starting QB, "Do you understand what cooperation is? What a team is?"

The QB nodded in the affirmative.

"Do you understand that what matters is whether we win together as a team?"

Again, the QB nodded yes.

"So," the coach continued, "when a penalty flag is thrown, or you miss an open WR, you don't argue or curse or attack other members of our team. Do you understand all that?"

"Yes", his QB responded.

"Good," said the coach, "now Donovan, go over there and explain it to your mother."

Heaven vs. Hell...

St. Peter and Satan were having an huge argument one day about football.

To settle things once and for all, Satan proposed a game to be played on neutral grounds between a select team from the heavenly host and his own hand-picked team from his realm.

"Very well," said St. Peter, the gatekeeper of Heaven. "But you do realize, I hope, that we've got all the best players and coaches up here."

"I know, and that's all right," Satan answered unperturbed. "We've got all the Ref's down here."

Flogging A Dead Horse...

Q: How many Vikings does it take to win a Superbowl?
A: No one knows, and we may never find out!

Q: Where do you go in MN in case of a tornado?
A: To the Metrodome - they'll never have a touchdown there.

Q: What's the difference between the MN Vikings and the Taliban?
A: The Taliban has a running game.

Q: Do you know why the Minnesota Vikings play in a dome?
A: Because God doesn't want to watch them play either.

Speak Out Spew Off...

I'm sure most of you out there are still just as numb as I am after the drone-fest that GM Ted Thompson calls his Packer Draft. So amongst all the despair and cries of pain, and there's even a few of you with shouts of joy, comes a serious question from a long time Packer Palace visitor:

What is a Chimay? That a beer? Can you get those in Packland? Always willing to try something new. You seem to hold them in high regards... must be good!!! Appreciate anything you can share about locating them. Maybe I've walked by them.

Long Live The Pack!!!

"Chimay is an authentic Trappist beer that is brewed within a Trappist monastery,
under the control and responsibility of the monastic community."

Oh Long Live The Pack,

Let me tell you about Chimay. Yes it's Beer. Yes they have a high alcohol by volume content. You have the Chimay Red, used to be my favorite, nice color for a Red, 7% alcohol. Chimay Blue is the darkest color and strongest, you may want to categorize it with Guinness but I'm not sure you can, it's better, 9% alcohol. Chimay Triple (White/Lager) is my by far my favorite beer, it's got a bit of fruity head to it when first opened, but you can find heaven after a few tastes, 8% alcohol.

Just a side note here, but I had to quit drinking Chimay's on Packers Sunday mornings out here (10am is game time) for several years, I was so jubilant during and after a Packers victory a few years back that I was hung-over until Tuesday morning, and yes, I was at work on Monday somehow. I didn't know what or if I had posted that Sunday afternoon until that Tuesday morning when the head finally cleared a bit. It was Bloody Mary's and Bass Ale for a long, long time, but now I can handle my Chimay's in heavy moderation, so it's a beer the of choice at Packer Palace any day of the week and a certainty on Packers Game Days. Have a drink with me...

BeerKid - Still Pack 4 Life!

Hey BeerKid what does Ted Thompson have up his sleeve, he has what 15 mill to work with yet come on he must be waiting for people to cast off there garbage and come running with his pocket book open to through money at them what do you think.

packer fan at heart and for life

I'm starting to think that TT doesn't have anything up his sleeve, during the opening day of free agency he was isn't even in his office, he was at a college working out players, not even pretending he is going to try for anyone in free agency, and when we did have the chance to take a Notre Dame player, he chose not too, but his one exception is that card he keeps replaying over and over, you know, the trade down card. TT has done nothing to get the Packers fans excited about the upcoming season, nothing.

So tell me... Why should I not be emotionally destroyed that we didn't take this kid? Everyone was talking about him going top 5. Then he slips out and it starts to look like maybe he'll be available. And it keeps going and going until pick 16. Then we take a DL.

Every draft tracker I saw had Quinn rated in the high 90's. This guy we selected was in the low 90's and 80's. What ever happened to picking the "best available player"? What ever happened to Brett retiring? Are we now to trust Aaron "I broke my foot in less than one quarter of real football" Rodgers with the future of the franchise? did Brett finally reveal that he is not human and will never actually get hurt or retire?

I'm so mad, it's insane. Everybody is treating the Browns like they're some sort of visionaries by selecting Brady Quinn. They should be treating us like idiots cause we didn't.

That's all I got.

Aaah Luke, that's quite a bit but keep the faith brother, the draft wasn't that bad, unless you know, well, unless you were expecting a topflight WR like Bowe from LSU or a trade for Randy Moss, or unless you were expecting a speedy TE to split the middle of the field against the cover-2 defense, it was a decent draft unless you were expecting those 2 things. I also have to say the tagline for Aaron "I broke my foot in less than one quarter of real football" Rodgers is one of the best taglines I've ever heard.

Hey BeerKid....... Getting close now! I sure wouldn't mind seeing them get Moss. Your running game improves a whole bunch if your lining guys up like Driver, Moss, and Robinson in three wide sets. That's two safeties off the line of scrimage. Not so sure you don't pass a few times on 3rd and 1 with guys like that. And talking about RB's, yes it's nice to have a good one, but you or I can run behind a good O-line and even the best backs can't run behind a crappy one. Morency doesn't run straight ahead as well as Green but he does the cutback runs much better. I hope they get Moss and draft some more defense!! A great defense and decent offense will get you to the SB.

Long Live the Pack!!!

Hey LLtP, you didn't know how right you were about drafting for the defense... and as for trading for Moss, I think this response (errrh non-response) to a reporter who asked TT if he knew that Moss had been traded to the Patriots, no, what? huh? where? TT didn't know...

Success is like anything worthwhile. It has a price. You have to pay the price to win and you have to pay the price to get to the point where success is possible. Most important, you must pay the price to stay there.
