Spew Off Speak Out...

If any of you missed the former QB of the Pack being interviewed by some baseball guy on HBO last night.... you can find an abbreviated summary from Aaron Wilson over at PFT - Favre: "My Intentions Are Not To Create Controversy" and the almost complete transcript over at the Insiders Blog at Press Gazette/PackerNews.com - The Expanded Brett Favre Transcript.

I'm only going to say that for BF to compare his quitting on two teams to Vincent Lombardi actually retiring for a year as a coach, he was the Packers GM his last year in Green Bay, and then going on to resume his football career as the head coach of the Washington Redskins before succumbing to cancer really shows what a classless act BF has become.

Now for my prediction... with BF on the Vikings there is no way that the Fat DT Williams Brothers will be suspended by the NFL. There is absolutely no way that the NFL Commish will allow the new feel good story of the year to be overshadowed by actually suspending those two for violating the CBA, besides, if BF is truly on the Vikes, no Judge in Minnesota will allow their Super Bowl pending season to crash without a major fight. Just a prediction...

Lastly, a simple thanks to Packer Paul, Jim, Boz and everyone else who contributes to Packer Palace, we love you all.

Sent in to Packer Palace last summer via Packer Paul via a Vikqueen Fan who emailed it to him... It's another cheap laugh at BF's expense.

We should all get the feeling now that BF absolutely doesn't give a shit about the Packer fans who adored him for years. He's out there just buttf**king us daily as he spews his stuff over the airwaves. I am very tired of seeing the name "favre" everywhere. He knows that people want him to succeed. He knows that we want to believe him, so it's OK to lie like a dog. We Packer fans will find a way to believe him. However you feel about TT is not an issue. It's time the we took BF off the pedestal and looked at him without Rose colored glasses. He really isn't as pretty as we think.

I don't know if I hate Favre or if I think he is a prima donna. All I know is my gut feeling is that this could all end bad.

While all the NFL Live experts are in love with him and are already giving the Queens a Lombardi trophy, I'm a realist. He's almost 40 playing sixteen weeks of football against the leagues toughest defenses, I don't know, I'm just saying he might regret this decision and go crawling back to Mississippi with his shreaded pride, and ruined ego and realize that this wasn't such a good idea after all.

Somebody in his life needs to pull him aside and stop him. Nobody will. He will be a 50 year old former great who's mangled body we will be seeing on TV, crying about how he's physically unable do take a crap anymore thanks to football.

Favre save yourself now, I beg of you. Save yourself the embarrassment of getting killed week after week and losing what little respect you have from your fans. Save yourself from the boos you will get when your 75 and come back to Lambeau for that reluctant number retirement. QUIT WHILE YOU ARE AHEAD.

Hey Salt Lake Cheese, here ya' go: http://sconnie.com/view_item&id;=137 is the place to buy one... thanks goes to D for following through and letting all of us know where he found the t-shirt.

Hey Salt Lake Cheese, it was forwarded around (scroll down a few times to view) a bit before Boz sent it in, you would think that it's from last year when BF joined the Jets so... yes it's funny and it's a burning question for several people today. Here's a link that says her BIL(?) created these t-shirts last year - knitorious.typepad.com/knitorious/2008/09/well-never-forg.html - and a link from As Seen In Wisconsin - www.asseeninwi.com/well-never-forget-you-brent-favre - and another modified one as a desktop wallpaper - www.asseeninwi.com/well-never-forget-you-brent-favre-desktop.   BK

WOW! Jonny, you would be the last person I'd expect to say that... but then I suppose you are like most of us, it's one thing for BF to play for the Jets, quite another to purposely want to go to your teams hated rival.   BK

Isn't there an interviewer on earth who can ask Favre some tough questions???? I wonder if Brett makes them show him the lists of questions before the interview...

Why bother to lie about whether you told the Packers you wanted back then changed your mind? Or, Why do you think your buddy Mooch should get hired as coach even though he SUCKS? Or Why do you think you need to be GM, too, acquiring players? Or, why make a point to say in your Jets retirement presser that you WEREN'T asking for a release, when you obvious were going to do just that in another 2 months? Somebody question this guy's motives, please...don't just humor Favre the cash cow.

Can't wait to see the draq queens crumble with a 40 year old drama queen QB who has a 76 QB rating in playoff games since SB XXXII. Can't blame them for signing Mr. Popularity, though, since they can't even sell out a football game.

We'll see if the Viqueens can stomach the interceptions as easily as Pack fans....Favre will want to "put it to TT and the Pack" so bad that he will forget he has a running back and use his surgically gunslinger arm and throw and throw and throw and the Pack will score, and score and score! Speak Out Spew Off...

Here's something of interest I ran across a few days ago from Real Scouts over at The Sporting News... Best of the best: NFL's top 25 players for '09 and although there's no Packers on the top-25, they do have the breakdown's for the top-20 at each position. You can find the individual links for each position along the article's left column as you scroll down.

Head coach Mike McCarthy is 16th, defensive coordinator Dom Capers is rated 5th, with offensive coordinator Joe Philbin also at 16th. Last year, the Packers offense finished 5th in points, and 8th in yards per game and the Packers defense finished 22nd in points allowed, and 20th in points per game.

Packers players listed on offense: QB Aaron Rodgers - 14th, RB Ryan Grant - 18th, WR Greg Jennings - 9th, WR Donald Driver - 13th, and T Chad Clifton - 11th.

Packers players listed on defense: CB Charles Woodson - 14th, CB Al Harris - 18th, S Nick Collins - 6th, DE Cullen Jenkins - 18th, OLB Aaron Kampman - 11th, ILB Nick Barnett - 17th and ILB A.J. Hawk - 13th.

No special teams players made the top-10 list at their positions.

Enjoy the weekend - Drink in heavy moderation. Viva Los Packers!!!

Two things in regards to what Long Live the Pack said (see below). First of all, none of these rookies has played a down. We can call BJ a top-rated DT, but then again so was Steve Emtman and he turned out to suck. I may be totally cynical, but I hate it when people talk about how great their draft was before anyone has played a down. Secondly, and I know I will take huge amounts of crap for this because he is everyone's savior now, Aaron Rodgers has really done nothing. Are we better off with him? I don't even know. We were a 13-3 team, and he was handed the reigns and we won 6 games, 2 of which were against the most hapless team ever in the Lions. I'm not pro-Favre, I may have been at one point, but I really just want this to end, I want him to retire and go away. I just don't think we really know if the Packers have the players they need or not. I understand the want of them to win, but banking on rookies and a new defense just seems like such a bad idea.

It would be nice if Favre made up his mind for a change instead of dragging all of us through the mud for months on end. It appears the Viking's deal is going to happen and it will forever change my opinion of Favre. I used to put him in the same category as Robin Yount and Bart Starr. It now appears he is closer to Gary Sheffield. It is hard to see things from his end of this fiasco.

Per the report, which cited two sources, Vikings coach Brad Childress has set a deadline for this week for Favre to make up his mind on whether he’ll join the Vikings as their starting quarterback or remain retired in Mississippi.

This made me laugh. All of PackerNation have gone through this before. BF will do what he feels like doing. He will sign with the Queens on his own schedule. He will meet no deadline. He knows he can get away with it because he's Brett.

This is a pretty interesting article I found over at Bleacher Report, on just how rare it is to find a starting QB in this league, and why GM Ted Thompson was almost forced to draft Aaron Rodgers when other needs were supposed to be addressed at the time. It's not too long and it's over-generalized on it's points, but worth the read even though it's scattered across 10 pages.... just keeping clicking "next".

BeerKid - Always Pack 4 Life!

____________________________________________

Hey BeerKid............. Thought I'd do a little write up to see where we’d be in hindsight had things turned out in the preferred (?) way. It’s summer 2008, TT decides to welcome Favre back, AR is back-up once again. May be fair to assume that the Packers finish w/a record similar to the Jets (defense, O-line and special teams play limit outcome a bit). Let’s see where we are today, now. Favre has retired with a bad shoulder but hints he may come back for another year. Everyone waits. Meanwhile, AR’s contract has expired and he signed elsewhere as a F/A (possibly in our division). The draft has come and gone. Instead of the top rated DT, we’re picking around #16. We pick the best D player available (who ever that would have been, I’m not looking it up to see who was there for the Jets). We don’t have that 3rd (Favre trade) to trade, so we didn’t get Mathews. Packers announce that if Favre doesn’t return, the starting QB will be the winner between Brohm and Flynn this year. The thought around headquarters is that “we were close, maybe a player or two will get us back” so the coaches that were fired are still Packers. (for the most part) So, currently, we’d be sitting around waiting yet again to see if Favre plays another year (the current Viking situation). We’re minus AR, Raji, and Mathews but have added a good player on D. Of course, F/Agency might have went differently, then again, the Vikes might have signed AR……….

"Leadership is based on a spiritual quality; the power to inspire, the power to inspire others to follow."

Overheard In Training Camps This Week... Encore

  • Our offensive line was so good that even our backs couldn't get through it.

  • Football is a game of inches, and that's how some teams move the ball.

  • As John Madden says, "If you see a defensive line with a lot of dirt on their backs, they've had a bad day."

  • Our linebacker is so strong he can pitch horseshoes while they're still on the horse.

  • We play in a dome stadium. We always prefer to kick with the air-conditioning at our backs.

  • Football is a game when 22 big, strong players run around like crazy for two hours while 50,000 people who really need the exercise sit in the stands and watch them.

  • The coach says his favorite play is the one where one of our players pitches the ball back to the official after he has scored a touchdown.

  • Pro linemen are so huge that it takes just four of them to make a dozen.

  • Our players have a lot on the ball. Unfortunately, it's never their hands.

  • We were in a really tough game. Our quarterback started praying, and we heard a distant voice say, "Please don't include me in this."

  • The place kicker missed his attempt at a field goal. He was so angry, he went to kick himself and missed again.

  • They call it their nickel defense, because that's what it's worth.

  • I knew that he was on steroids. His I.Q. and neck size were the same number.

  • Old quarterbacks never die. They just pass away.

  • We have so many players on the disabled list the team bus can park in a handicapped space.

  • This team employs their famous "Doughnut Defense" the one with the big hole in the middle.

  • This year I can assure you that we are going to move the ball. I just hope that it's forward.

  • The only way they can gain yardage is to run their game films backward.

  • Husband: "Hey, Marie, do you have anything you want to say before the football season starts?"

  • He retired due to illness and fatigue. The fans were sick and tired of his coaching.

Spew Off Speak Out... It's The OTA's

I don't know about any of you... but all I got out of the Packers OTA's recently was that Allen Barbre is working out primarily as the new Right Tackle. Last year's draft pick OLB Jeremy Thompson is apparently adapting well to the 3-4 defense and former DE and now OLB Aaron Kampman won't talk to the media. The speculation ranges from the "he's not adapting well" and "looks stiff" in these OTA's to "he's just annoyed with all the media..." angle to the his silence.

I'm just going to pop another beer and move right along... to "wanna be back in the news" Fran Tarkenton. I don't need some vikqueen scrub who's 0-4 in Super Bowls to tell me how much my former beloved QB should play or not play, for who or not for whom, and frankly, if Brett Favre can still whing the ball around like early last year, more power to him. Play for the Vikes. Please...... and "twinkletoes" can go back to staring at his 1 NFL Championship ring... which was eventually their 1st Super Bowl loss so it doesn't really count as a champion-anything. Bwa hahahaha hahahahah bwah hah-hahahah ha ha haaaaaaa.... eh.

_______________________

Hey Beerkid, In the words of Sgt. Hulka in the 1981 "Ball Buster" movie "Stripes" ... "Lighten up, Francis." Fran Tarkenton's attack on #4 was clearly a way for the Vi-Queens organization to take themselves off the hook about signing Brett Favre.

Back in the day I am sure Francis was taking showers with vi-queen greats such as Coach Grant, Cocaine Carl Ehler, Jim "Wrong way" Marshall and Freddie the Foot Cox. Who out there thought that after Brett un-retired, only to be traded by the "Village Idiot" to the NYJ's that he was going to make it another 16-17 year career in the Big Apple? Brett knew that it wasn't going to be forever, so why get close to the team?

When Francis came out of his cave on the Afghan border to give a radio rant about Brett I had all but forgotten that he was still among the living. I mean, WTF has he done since that outstanding (HA!) TV show of his from the 1980's, "That's Incredible!"?!?

Brett still remains the guy you just want to kick back and have a few beers with and talk about football, family and hunting.

Francis still remains one of only a few NFL QB's to have reached the "Big Show" 4 (FOUR) TIMES and choked on the big one when everything mattered.

It was also a different game back then Francis. Perhaps Fran should look to the asshole in his "Ivory Tower" at 1265 Lombardi Avenue for blame for the preseason Mella-drama that played out last summer and perhaps have that beer or two first with Brett before passing judgment.

So "lighten up Francis" and crawl back into your hole, your "Fifteen Minutes" in over 27 years are up.

PACKER PAUL - Minneapolis, MN.
_______________________

I live in MN and got to listen to the whole 20 minutes Fran spent with Paul Allen, the Queens announcer on the radio. What's funnier than Fran's ramblings is the fact that Allen, and everybody else up here, thinks that just plugging Favre into the Queens QB spot is an automatic Lombardi Trophy. Nobody up here is even considering the fact that it could end horribly.

I loved the guy for all those years in Green Bay, but right now Favre is old, his shoulder is fried, and his playoff numbers are basically horrible over the last several years. The Queens will be more dangerous come December if Rosenfels has a year running the team than with a tiring Favre. I hope they sign him. Go Pack.

Beerkid, Just off the wire, Greg Ellis DE/OLB 11 Year vet was cut by Dallas today. What a great insurance policy for the Packers, Come on Ted sign him. He would be a good fit for the 3-4 and come in and rest Kampman on some series!!!!!!! Go Pack Go

Hey Packman, yes, Ellis has given the Pack fits over the years whenever they played Dallas... I don't know what he has left in his tank, and he's rumored to be heading towards New England, but one of the things we fans have talked about over and over is "where are veteran leaders" on this team when the decisive moment on the field arises.  BK

Dan, whom loves the old Packers, is completely insane. As much as I wish Favre's career path had ended in a different way, what do we achieve by bringing back a guy who doesn't really want to be here and then making him GM? I'm a huge Brett Favre fan, he is the only Packer's QB I have known. But at this point, I just want it all to stop. Brett just needs to retire and get ready for the hall, and we need to move on and try to be successful on the field. And, if The Pack finishes below .500, then we can start saying Ted needs to go. But right now, this is by far the most absurd thing I have heard in ages, AGES.

Dave B
_______________________

Love the way Fran's opinion is juxtaposed against Dan's. Which one makes sense to you? And this after watching that 99 yard pass Brett threw to Brooks in Chicago, the last Packer game I have seen in my hometown due to the inane level of abuse. How can I possibly forget the sweet silence that fell over the 17 y.o. imbecile who was screaming Fudge Packer (a favorite Chicago putdown) for an hour straight right into my ear. Suddenly he turned into a well mannered suburban Chicago boy. Don't expect anyone here to believe me but my 3 friends would confirm that I called that third down play, and well I remember their jaws hanging open. If there are going to be any mass demonstrations in Green Bay I hope it is to issue a mass apology to Ted Thompson for the misery he has had to endure as Packer GM which I am sure eclipses that which all his predecessors endured combined, including good ol Dominic who ever he was. One subtle trait of Thompson unrecognized is I believe he tries to draft "Packers" which I believe are in shorter supply than 40 years ago, what correctly or not are often referred to as character guys.

It's nice to see some things never change--Fran still is and always has been a self-absorbed prick. Who really gives a rat's rump what he thinks? Is he whining because nobody really noticed when he retired?? Maybe he's sore because the biggest thing he's done since retiring is that dumbass show on NBC all those years ago-or clearing the probabtion from his illegal businesses.... Crawl back under the rock Fran--nobody still cares................
